:confused3 Hi all,
I reciever a refferral for the F&F promo this week and I called tonight but there seems to be a minor problem.
In September my wife and I were at WDW and decided to check on the DVC.
We made the appointment and the next day we went to DVC headquarters at SSR. We advised the guide that we were there for information not to buy as we were departing in two days for our first 7 day DCL trip. (It was great) That was our first priority. We were told that we had somany days to contact the guide to recieve the deal that was being offered. $101 per point or 10% off plus 250 2005 extra points since that was September 2006 and UY would be DEC 2007
The guide I spoke to tonight advised me that he could not speak two words to me about the DVC as I was attached to a guide already.
Well I want a divorce!

If I'm being reffered by someone I should be able to speak with their guide not someone who wouldn't ever discuess a Disney resale's with us. That guide only wanted to discuess SSR and seemed not so careing of our wishes.

As I'm not a member of the DVC, is this true?? Once you speak to any/a guide your stuck with them for life. What if you don't like them? What if how they were selling felt kind of pushy and favored their way and not mine/yours?
Help. Help. We need some quick advice as 1/20/2007 is coming fast..

That's basically how it works.

You can try to escalate to get another guide, but since time is short, all you need to do is contact the old guide, and see if you can use your referral for F&F deal.
I would focus on getting the deal first and new guide later:goodvibes

Divorces can be messy and take a long time...........

It has been Disney's policy, once you have made contact with a guide, he/she's yours till they leave Disney. That is a failsafe for Disney..not to create anamosity/cut throat competition within thier ranks. Its just how it is.. and has worked out fine for most of us.
Now..once you say you have a referral for the SSR Incentive..just tell your guide..should be no problem.:goodvibes
I dont understand your annoyance??:confused3 You say "all he wants to do is talks about SSR", OK, thats what you want..right??

If you truly dont like your guide... callDVC and ask for a supv, change guides.. if thats what you want to do.

I made a phone call to dvc about 3 years ago and spoke with a guide who's name i will not say. Anyway, spoke with her for about 5 minutes, and then moved on to other things. Of course, we wish we had bought in at that time, but did not and did not pursue it further nor hear any further from her. (frankly, if she had followed up and provided the information I requested, we might have). Anyway, move up to this past November. We are there at SSR and finally decide to take the official "tour". We wait and wait and wait. Well, it was because her name was attached to ours as our guide, and they had to track her down and send her down to us!

This would have been fine, but I feel she deliberately misled us!! I made it very clear that I am on the Disboards alot, and had a F&f referral. I even gave her the name at that time (which she promptly went and looked up). She made it very clear in no uncertain terms that this was only good for us for 3 DAYS. She even wrote the date on out literature! I do not like being misled or lied to. About 6 days later, I called with questions and directly asked wasn't the promo good till 1/20, and she very very reluctantly agreed.

That was a very big reason why we bought a resale. We only saved $200 buying a resale (but frankly got banked points and use year that she could not offer...) but, a large reason why I went with TSS was due to her attitude with me (she said that most people did not ask as many questions as i did...), and several misleading coments.

I would love to know if we could change guides as well. We want to buy into AKV, but would rather not use our current guide.

DVC guides are not allowed to discuss resales. That part won't change if you change guides.

After talking to my guide about BWV she said she could get us on the list for resale BWV through disney... so I believe they can talk about resales.

They cannot talk about "resellers". Yes..they can put you on a "wait list" for points at the BWV, but, they don't call it "resales" .

Just to clarify. Guides can discuss sold out resorts and whether they are on a waiting list or not. When we went on the tour in may I was very clear with our Guide that we wanted Beach Club and only Beach Club. I did this because of the horror stories I had read here and elsewhere. He was perfectly fine with it. We chose not to go on the waiting list then, but did in mid October and got our points in December and got to bank that years.

Our guide has been nothing but extremely polite and courteous. It is the customer service that Disney has me expecting. Do not settle for a bad Guide there are some GREAT ones out there and they can discuss sold out resorts.

Senecabeach beat me to the point. Sorry
Best of Luck from a new member.

We have a guide assigned to us who in the couple of times I have spoken with him he is excellent (If anyone that wants a DVC agent referred I will happily give them via PM). When the time comes that we have the $$ to get the big 150+ contract, I will happily use him. However, reality setting in, we are considering a resale for like a 50 point contract because I figure like our lil family (DW & I) our DVC can have a chance to grow.

The person before me says that DVC can mention sold resorts and put you on a waiting list. My question is, is it strictly for a 150 point minimum contract or are there smaller contracts too?

I have seen plenty of threads of people questioning whether to use DVC as an investment or a go with the heart decision. For me, it would definitely be a go with the heart but finances being the way they are, I would like my heart to still have a good connection with my wallet

when we were in Disney 2 1/2 yrs ago we toured SSR and didn't buy. In Dec we were once again in Disney and decided to tour again. Since the guide we saw was out of town, but still with DVC, we met with another guide. He told us at the end of our meeting that we could call either one of them. Unsure of who to call we called the newer guide and left a message. He was the one who returned our call and sold us our membership.

:goodvibes Thank you all for responding so quickly.
Remember I'm the one not in the club, I'm the one who might not know the proper or correct words to user when asking questions and I'm the one that reads this forum and am told to ask all the questions I need to before I spend my money. Right or wrong words, the guides know what I talking about.

Bottom line I just didn't know that a guide was "till death or new employment do us part".
I'm sure a year from now I'll be smarter than I am now.

If you are not a member, Disney will not sell you a contract smaller than 150 points. If you want less than 150 points, your only option is resale.

It has been reported that Disneyis more aggressive about exercising its ROFR on the small resale contracts (<150 points) if the buyer is not already a member. It can still work, but you may have to offer more than you would expect to get by ROFR.

Once you are a member, even if your contract is less than 150 points, you can buy an add on directly through Disney. The smallest contract available is 25 points if you pay with cash or 50 points if you want Disney financing.

You can definately change guides. We went on our first DVC tour back when they were selling BCV, and our guide made so many bad comments, that it turned us off him completely. There was no way we were going to buy from this person. When we did finally buy in Jan 06, we made it very clear that we would not buy in if we had to go with our original salesperson. They were happy to comply, and we quite like our new person.

:wave2: Hi all,
Got my guide changed this AM, also baught 150 points as a start.
thank you all for helping me make it so easy,

I'm getting in a little late but a couple of thoughts. Referrals are directed at new contacts. If one has made any contact at all previously you will already have a guide but you can change if there is a reason to do so. Many timeshare sales would not let you have the referral specials in the situation described. I'm glad it worked out.
