SSR or BWV/BCV

Currently I am on the waiting list for BCV, however I have been doing a lot of thinking. Being in my mid 20's having a lot of years would be better for me (if I chose SSR), however BCV is where I want to be. I enjoy the boardwalk area and have stayed at the Beach Club and Yacht Club and enjoy that area and the pool!

With the Friend/Family promotion I could get $86 per point at SSR which is a great deal! The only time I would want to stay at the BCV is the second weekend in November when we have a get together with friends. Would I have a hard time booking 7 months out at BCV the second weekend in November? (Wed-Tuesday)

Anyone have any thoughts on which resort is the best? I also thought about BWV instead of BCV, anyone know how much I could get per point from that resort with the friends/family promotion?

Any suggestions would be great. I want to make my final decision soon! (Before Jan. 20th )

Thanks

well i personally would go for the extra years. However that is the point its a personal preference and i'm sure your reasons are different than mine. I weighed all options and determined the extra years were more important. so far i haven't had trouble getting where i want at 7 months, plus SSr is very nice even if i can't get what I want. thus far we haven't stayed at the same place twice in a row and we want to try them all.

My home/favorite DVC property is BCV. So far we've stayed at BCV-2nts, Vero Beach- 3nts, 5nts, and 5 more this summer, SSR- 8nts, and we have 8nts booked at BWV this summer just before our stay at VB. We also used our pts for 4nts on Disney Wonder and booked 2nts at SSR for my parents.

You make valid points. To tell you the truth, last year when we planned our trip, we wanted to stay at anywhere but SSR. Unfortunately, everything was booked so we had to "settle" on SSR. We did not like the idea of a horse racing, New York themed resort. Man were we wrong. Once we got to SSR, we fell in love with the place. Is it our favorite DVC resort? Probably not. Would we have a problem staying there again? Absolutely not! We really enjoyed ourselves. We thought the pool, albeit small, was great, quiet pools were great, buses were very prompt and efficient.

One final thing, I'm with you, The Boardwalk area and the pools there are great. You can always pool hop at the BWV if it's not too busy. Also, just to give you some hope, I just landed BWV, preferred view, from 21-29JUL07. I really did not think we would be able to secure this, because this is in the heart of summer, but we really had no problem. We did not have to go on the wailt list at all.

Hopefully this helps you out. Good luck with your decision.

The "KEY" to getting ressies at these other smaller DVC's, BC, WL is "Planning"!!

It seems that you are already "locked in" to that Nov week, its not Thanksgiving, so you shouldn't have any problem making that ressie on the "exact" date of the 7th month:cool1:

Look at the absolute worst scenerio ( with NO planning).... if you cant get ressies at other places some time...you will be forced to stay @ your "home" resort.... DAH....hurt me!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You are young and have many years of "Magic" to enjoy. The extra yrs. are a plus for you...not to mention saving $3,000. on the 300 pt. purchase of SSR vs. BC that you are looking for ...don't forget the "yearly" mtc. fees and the difference between that too !!

We have decided to go with 150 points at SSR and wait for some points at Beach Club to Open up. If we don't have any problems booking at the Beach Club the second weekend in November this year with our SSR points then we might just go with 300 and add 150 points to SSR later.

Called my guide, left a message and waiting for his call back. I hope we get this finalzed today if he is working :)

Good for you! I really couldn't see how you could have made a bad decision. You'll love SSR and anywhere else that you stay.

If you are set on getting into the BCV for the second weekend of November and don't buy there, you'll need to plan on calling to reserve it day by day as soon as the 7 month window opens and as soon as MS opens. That 2nd weekend of November will coincide with "Jersey Week" most years and is a very, very popular time for NJ DVC members to visit. You will have a lot of competition for the openings that may still exist at 7 months.
