recent Experiences In Getting Points Transferred

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum.... I'm may need an additional 25 points for our August vacation. The whole point transfer thing is new to me so I started researching on the rental board to get an idea how the process works. It seems like members are having difficulty getting point transfers from other members. Is this because of the new rule of only one transfer in or out per use year? Also, based on recent members being scammed, should I be concerned if an offer comes in from someone with very few posts. I am a bit nervous about the thought of doing this.

Can't help but I'm interested in the answers - we're in the process of trying to locate an additional 18 pts for our August vacation.

Yes, it does have something to do with the recent transfer ENFORCEMENT limits. ( I know the limits have always been in the POS)

I've never transferred and don't plan to but if I was I wouldn't want to "waste" my one transfer out for such a small amount of points.

You may find a nice member willing to do it but it may cost you a little more money. 25 points, I'd want at least $400 to even consider burning my one transfer.

My guess is someboby will step up and help.

Yikes! I think or better option is to add on points! :)

I think I am confused. Is the rule 1 transfer of points per use year in or out? or is the rule 1 transfer of points in per use year and 1 transfer of points out per use year? Not sure why one would do both in 1 use year but you never know.

One transfer either way (not both) per member per year. It does not matter if you have multiple contracts with multiple UY's. It's one per member each year.

True if they share the same master contract i.e add on. If one contract is in wifes name and other in yours, seperate member numbers, then you could each do the one, either in or out.

I agree with Dumbo. Unless I was near the end of my use year (when my right to transfer would "reload" ) I would be reluctant to use up my transfer rights for such a small amount. First there is the hassle, and second, what if I needed to transfer for myself later in the year? I would hate to take the risk.

As noted above, it's one in OR one out. There are many reasons you might want to do in and out. Maybe you want to trade points with someone to get the home resort priority and just swap points. Or maybe you want to get more points for a large trip than you could get with what you own and one transfer.

Technically different master contracts are different people. I haven't seen any direct info since the change but in the past when it was one in OR one out, it was one per master contract and see no reason to think this has changed.

I predicted initially this would hurt the average owner more than the average renter for this exact reason (in part). Harder to get a smaller transfer, likely harder to get any transfer, and at a higher price esp for the small ones. Plus it makes a subset of owners who would likely have rented out to pay for a cruise or other large trip, less likely to do so.

My husband, myself and our daughter decided to transfer points from her acct. into ours for our trip after Thanksgiving this past year. We wanted to do a 2 bedroom instead of 2 studios. They told us then that we couldn't transfer for another year. Yuck!

Why is transferring points considered a hassle? What do you need to do?

Everyone's definition of hassle varies, for me it is a hassle because:

The necessary incense, :hippie: Florida Gold, :hippie: and the Mickey Mouse incense holders are getting so expensive, even on ebay.

Then you need to wait for either the Winter or Summer :) Solstice, put on that heavy (and smelly!) horsehair robe. :chewy:

You need 13 DVC Owners :grouphug: who have never rented (Rental VIRGINS) to start chanting :dance3: "M-I-C-K-E-Y, Y-because we love you, M-O-U-S-E........"

And finally that whole blood offering

thing..... :crazy2: yuck. :faint:

I find it easier to rent. :teacher:

Another way of looking at this is that Disney may think that it encourages owners to add-on. See OP's second post...

Thank you for some much needed humor this morning. It's been a hard week and I really needed this.

I own two separate UY's and was told only one transfer per owner. If one was in my wife's name and one in mine then I guess that should work. However, separate contracts (i.e. member numbers) with common ownership will be viewed as one contract for the purpose of transfers (I went to a supervisor at MS on this issue).
