making multiple dining ressies for same time slot - Possible?

I am taking a group of students to WDW in Aug/Sept (18 students and 3 chaperones). While I do not want 'group' dining, meaning, all 21 of us do not plan on eating together (so no 'grand gatherings' type deal), I do have members of the group who want different TS meals at different places. I've made ADRs before but have never had to make them where I will probably have to make ressies at two or three different restaurants during the same timeframe. Will the CM taking my ressies allow me to do this knowing that I have multiple rooms (10 altogether)? Thanks in advance

Did you book directly through Disney or through a TA? If you booked through Disney, you'll make ADR's under your confirmation number. That could be sketchy because they're known for deleting reservations if you have more than one in the same time frame.

If you booked through a TA, you'll use your phone number to make ADR's. In that case I'd have each group of people eating together use their name and number to make their ADR's. That way they shouldn't get confused with all the others and run the risk of deletion.

It's also possible that they have a special set up to combat problems like this with Grand Gatherings - it can't hurt to ask!

thanks. We did not go through a TA. Grand gatherings is only for 8 or more and the groups dining will be less than that here and there. I wonder if the CM making the reservation for me could make special note on the ressie or if the system automatically would boot out some of the ressies? Hopefully someone can come by and add more info. Thanks so far!

A Grand Gathering is 8 or more people travelling together as a group and staying onsite - not necessarily eating every meal together! It's a program to help you facilitate planning a vacation with a large group of people and make the experience more magical for everyone involved. It's probably the best way to go to Disney with a group - it wouldn't hurt to call and see if you can switch your group over to a GG!

When you call Disney Dining you don't have to give them your reservation number. Just make the ADR's as needed and get the confirmation number for each one!

Just make the different dining reservations you make for the same meals with different hotel reservation numbers.

Or just use the name and phone # of one of the people who will be dining at that ADR, if you don't need to use a res # (I DID need mine to make my ADRs this month) Good luck

Now I see it! Thanks for the link! I knew that they would do large group dining but now I see that they will do the ressies for smaller groups also. Phew! That takes a load off my mind as the 180 day window approaches. Now, if I can just get the kids to definitely make up their minds! Many of them have not been to WDW before and want to try everything! We are giving each a dining card that will cover enough counter service meals but some want to do a few restaurants. It will be hard for them to narrow it down to one or two! Thanks for the info!

The problem with that is it will then be tied to a phone number and multiple ADR's at the same time could get deleted.

If your reservation is through WDW, your dining reservations are not necessarily linked to your room reservation. I normally just give my phone number....easier to rattle off.

Anyway, we've had more than one reservation at the same time and do for this next trip as well. My husband and I are dining at V&A on our anniversary while our "kids" have dinner at Narcoossee's. I anticipate no problems.

This is what I didn't want them to think I was doing. Making ressies at more than one place and then deciding which one I want to eat at when the time rolled around. I was assuming that DIS had a system in place so that people couldn't do that, which would be smart of them!

I would explain to the CM what you are doing. If you have 10 at Mama's while 11 are at Chefs, I just don't think you'll have a problem.

I would go with the Grand Gatherings help, as advised above. That way, the CM (and more importantly, the reservation system) will know that there are 21 of you, and not cancel dining reservations made at the same time at different restaurants for subgroups.

We just got back from a trip with my family & my dparents. I used my name & cell number for most of the reservations. In the cases where we were splitting off - I used my dm's name & cell. Multiple ressies/same time slot - voila. No muss, no fuss.

I wasn't asked for a ressie #, but I booked after the 180 day window. You could use different ressie #'s if necessary.
