Favorite Restaurant

Hi! I'm new to Dis Boards and I was wondering what the best restaurants are anywhere in the park. I've been searching, but havn't come up w/anything. Thanks!

I guess the question would be.... best restaurant for what? Best Character meal, Best Food, Most Romantic, Best atmosphere. Best gourmet experiences... Victoria & Alberts at the Grand Floridian (expensive, but for many, well worth it) or California Grill at the Contemporary. I also like the Brown Derby at MGM, Le Cellier at Epcot, Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and I have several choices at Downtown Disney. So that is a tough question to answer. For food alone, my personal choice would be California Grill... or Victoria and Alberts if it was a very special occassion.

PS: If SOMEHOW this is for real ... check out the menus at the top of these threads! Unless you have some unexpected tastes for a certain food (or allergies), at WDW you can throw a stone and hit a good place to eat ... well don't REALLY throw a stone ... you would get in trouble.

To answer Liisa, the best restaurants for families w/kids ages 10 and 12. And I AM really new to Dis Boards!! My parents surprised me and my brother w/a trip to WDW after Memorial Day for Christmas. What I meant to say was I wanted your input on good restaurants. Oh, and by the way, the rock joke was very funny!

WOW - what a great surprise! You are going to have so much fun! I think any place you eat at WDW is great - just make sure you bring lots of $$$$!

If you want to do Character meals, I've heard good things about Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom. Also, kids seem to get a kick out of Sci Fi Dine In at MGM. Coral Reef might be a good choice at Epcot since they would get to look at the really cool aquarium. The food is better at some of these than others, but with kids I would think entertainment value ranks high. Also, some of the resorts have places that kids enjoy... Ohanas at the Poly is great at entertaining kids. Hope that helps a little. If your kids are girls, they may really like to eat at Cinderella's royal Table in the castle (although people have mixed feelings because of the cost). Good luck. Picking out restaurants is my favorite part of planning!

In the parks? My fave is Le Cellier at Epcot. In the whole WDW resort? Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

In the MK, Liberty Tree Tavern is sooooooo good! Le Cellier in Epcot is fantastic too.

If you're considering resort restaurants too, our faves are Kona Cafe at the Poly and Boma at AKL.

California Grill for a relaxing get away and GEAT View!

If you want great View with Buffet, go with OHANA

Our favorites are Ohana at the Poly, Spoodles at the Boardwalk, LeCellier at Epcot, Crystal Palace at MK (table service). As for counter service, we choose Columbia Harbor House in MK, Sunshine Seasons in Epcot, and Tusker House in AK.

Sadly, we have yet to find a restaurant in MGM that can go into our "best" category, but that's just our opinion.

Magic Kingdom: Crystal Palace.
EPCOT: Le Cellier
MGM: 50's Prime Time
Animal Kingdom: Rain Forest Cafe, but I believe it's right outside the park.
Grand Floridian: 1900 Park Faire
Contemporary: Concourse Steak House
Polynesian: Kona Cafe

You will find that if you read enough posts on the DIS, for every person who loves a restaurant, there is another who despises it. You don't say if your kids are boys or girls or one of each and if they are picky eaters or not. Those would all be important when choosing a restaurant to eat at. You might want to read several of the other threads here on the restaurants board. Also check out the menus thread. It should give you a breakdown of the offerings at each of the restaurants. If your kids tend to be a little pickier or if they are adventurous eaters, then I would choose a restaurant w/ a buffet as there will be more to choose from. If you will be going during a holiday or peak time, you may want to book some ADR as alot of the eateries get very crowded due to the Disney dining plan. The one place I would definitely plan on going to is Beaches N Cream at the Yacht Club. It is an old fashioned ice cream parlour and a real treat. It's not very large though, so a reservation might be needed. Have a great time on you vacation. Ed

We have 4 children(age2-12) and our family favorites are Kona, Tusker House, and Coral Reef.(that one is all about the view!)

Our Family's favourite restaurants are Kona, Concourse Steakhouse, Le Cellier, Cap'n Jacks and Sci Fi Dine.

Our favorite from our July 2006 trip was Coral Reef in Epcot. We also like Raglan Road & Rainforest Cafe (both at Animal Kingdom & Downtown). We had a bad experience at Le Cellier (mostly service.) But it always gets good reviews on the Dis board.

Depending on where you are staying, eating at some resorts takes some planning to get back and forth.

We like Crystal Palace in MK. The buffet is pretty good and nice interaction with pooh and friends.

50's Prime time at the Studios can have some great interaction. (My father has been put in the corner and made to wear a bib - let that be a lesson to any tattle talers out there!) Plus the fried chicken and pot roast are fantastic!

If you are up to new foods, try Morocco in Epcot. Not the most popular choice, but they have belly dancers for entertainment and the food is very good.

At AK, we really like Flame Tree Barbeque. Get a nice table down by the water. The ribs and chicken are very good.

Our other favorite is Beaches and Cream. GREAT burgers and the ice cream is fantastic!

Do you have the dining plan? Might be worth adding it to your reservation if not. Do some research on it on these boards to see if it would be right for you. Check out menus and prices on allearsnet.com. That being said, our favorites with dd9 and ds10 last trip were Biergarten in Epcot (we'll do that every trip) and Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge (a short boat ride from MK). Animal Kingdom only has one Table Service restaurant, Rainforest Cafe, so you may want to go outside of the park to eat there, but they close earlier than the other parks, so it easy to wait.
