Wow....after only 2 days I feel such a difference in my "morning" sickness. We actually went out to eat and grocery shopping last night. I still had to go sit down about half way through...I just couldn't look at all that food. But the fact that I even was out of the house was amazing.

All the expectant DISers.....you MUST ask your OB-GYN about this. It apparently is safer than Phenergan and it doesn't make you nearly as drowsy. It is expensive though.....but insurance should cover it. Zofran is actually used more for chemotherapy patients. I actually had a lady tell me she went off the pill when she heard of this drug....she didn't mind getting pregnant as long as she wouldn't get so sick.

YEA!!!!!! I can look at the bouncy guys again!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Bump for all the pregnant DISers!!!!!

Hopefully there are no side effects. I mean every "miracle drug" they advertise on TV have all these weird side effects. I mean, I'll never take something that causes anal leakage; I'll live with whatever's ailing me. :teeth:

But, I am glad you're feeling better and best of luck with your pregnancy. :)

I'm not a medical professional by any stretch, but I feel very strongly that no pregnant woman should take ANYTHING for a condition that is self-limiting. Morning sickness is self-limiting. When I was pregnant with oldest daughter, doctor tried to give me Thalomide. If you are old enough to remember, that drug caused babies with no arms or legs (just little flippers) and severe mental retardation. THANK GOD I didn't take it. Yes drugs are tested thoroughly but it is not until they are in wide-spread use that some of the dangers become known. Please do not take this stuff.

I'm so glad your feeling better! Continued good health to you and your wee babe!~
(I remember those days all too well even though it has been almost 5 years now! lol)

Thanks all!

Marlasmom....I will definitely question my doctor and others again. I had done some research on this medication and it appears to have had no ill affects so far. But you're right. You can never be too safe or cautious with medications, especially while pregnant.

I plan on only taking it if I absolutely need it. Some days are better than others. Hopefully, I won't need it all within a few weeks!

I would also be cautious. My Dr. put me on something when I was pregnant because I literally would not stop throwing up. I couldn't even get my spit down. My 3rd child died of a "side effect" that they didn't want to admit to and still don't. I don't thing it is available for sale anymore for that problem. I was involved in a class action suit but because it was a long time after they could only use my ds as an example. At the time I was told it was very safe to use.

tiger...I'm so sorry! Was the medication you were taking approved for use otherwise? This Zofran has been used for many years for chemotherapy patients and had no ill effects during pregnancy....but no drug is completely safe.

Just when I was feeling happy about not throwing up......:(

Best wishes for you and your baby. I know it's scary taking a new medicine and I know you wouldn't take anything that you thought would hurt the baby. I hope your morning sickness is gone soon.

I know that you would not take any medicine that you feel is not safe. It is really hard to be so sick and want help. The medicine I took is actually now being distrubuted for other things but it now carries a warning about not using it during pregnacy. It is so difficult to know. If your Dr. says that it really is okay I know that you will be okay. I don't want to tell you what you should or shouldn't do please. I do know however that you always need to be careful.

When I was suffering morning sickness ( rather all day sickness) I kept trying to tell myself what the doctor had told me. That it was a very good sign to be so ill as it indicates the hormones present during pregnancy are in full force and doing their job. Of course, it does not do much for you while you are puking away, but it was some small comfort at least.

Then of course, there is natural childbirth to look forward to in the end, lol. In retrospect, it is difficult to go thru at the time, both the sickness and labor/birth, but in the whole scheme of life, they are both events that are of relatively short duration. I prefer to go the no meds route whenever possible. Everyone has different levels of tolerance, however, so heed your own physician's advice. :)
