Upon arrival some of the girls were drooling on the car windows - there were 1,000 father and sons camping in the main camp - thank heavens we were in the mini camp a field away from the main camp
The wagons were semi wagons - they looked like wagons on the outside with wheels and everything - there was a 'front door' that you reached by walking up a ramp, inside there were boxes that ran the length of the wagon on both sides with 2 mattresses on each side. The top was curved like a wagon with a canvas roof. So basically they were wagons cute and dry.
Racoons were busy watching the camp just waiting for us to go to bed so they could see what food we brought - the safest places for the food was the fridge - that we taped with duct tape, and the bathroom - since the door could be locked.
Everywhere you stepped was at least 2 - 3 inches of mud or more and with the storm that rolled in during the night more mud was created. But once the storm rolled through the weather held but it got very windy.
The girls got to shoot bee bee guns, climb a 40 ft wall - my dd was one of 2 that reached the top and rung the bell, archery, climbed Pete's tower, and horseback riding.
The sun did come out for about 10 minutes - Sunday morning when the girls were standing in a small horsehoe holding lighted candles and looking into the flames and thinking about what scouting means or meant to them.
It was a bittersweet moment when I pinned on my dd's 7th year membership star and she gave me a big smooch.
All in all a pretty good weekend
