You've Got a Friend in Me:TINKGURL & XOKTENOX's Adventures in WDW~UPDATE: 6/9 p.74

It was soo exciting to meet and get to be VIPs together. I totally noticed how tall your friends are in all your pics lol I'm 5'5", pretty average for a girl but I felt like a giant next to Tink haha. I would have thought you were taller, maybe because it seems like you have long legs?

Haha...I do not have long legs but dress to trick people into thinking so. People always think I'm taller than I am...and then I take my heels off!! :rotfl2: You are just at average!! I won't feel like a midget next July!! ;)

ADORABLE pics of the little guy with BUZZ!! Such a fun age to have it "all be real"!

It's so fun meeting DISers, even more so for when Tink and I met since we are so close. But all the ones I have met so far it was like talking to old friends, not people I was meeting in person for the first time.

That's the way it has been for us, as well. Hopefully, you'll be moving further south one of these days, and maybe you can be in on a fun Atlanta meet. Atlanta seems like a good location for a lot of us 'southern folks', so I hope there will be more big meets in the future. :)

Whaaaaaat??? No picture of THE meeting??? That's okay, you guys described it so vividly and perfectly and so full of emotion, you created a picture with words.

I'm loving your little guy with all the characters!! I have to tell you that we did Chef Mickey's for breakfast this summer, and my DH was saying the same thing about Mickey. I totally noticed it, too, but I was in denial. :rotfl:

Can't wait to hear about the luau! popcorn::

I graduated from Stony Brook! But I live in Suffolk...and like you, we are totally moving down South after I finish grad school.

That's what I like to hear :thumbsup2

Sorry to butt in but this is so funny..because in 2 years i will graduate from Stony Brook and me and DBF are moving down south too!

Also, loved to post when you guys finally met! I think its so cool that you guys got to be VIPs..can't wait to read more!

in 2 years i will graduate from Stony Brook and me and DBF are moving down south too!

Another SB er! I am what they call a half back around here. I moved all the way to Florida ( Tampa area) and then
Half way back. :rotfl2:

July 20, 2010 *continued*

We left off leaving the MK and heading back to the Contemporary. Fiancé and I decided just to walk back. I can’t tell you how many memories this brought back of when we used to stay there. There’s this one particular memory that always stands out when we use this walk way- there are some smelly plants (I’m guessing the smell is fertilizer?) as you’re walking…and this was back when Friends was still on the air, so the first thing that came to our minds (for some odd reason) was Phoebe’s “Smelly Cat” song- except we changed cat to plants. So there we would be, just using the walk way, and as soon as we got to the plants, we’d start singing “Smelly Plants…it’s not your fault!” So of course, as Fiancé and I are walking and got to the plants, I had to start singing it. I don’t know what amuses me more: the fact that I remember the song OR the fact that the plants still smell. Haha

Chris and I walked to our bus stop after we parted ways with Tink and her DF. We got a bus at 2:20 and I got some pictures as we walked into the building. We went in the main doors and not through Everything Pop this time because we needed to go to Guest Relations to pick up our Spirit of Aloha tickets.

I went over to Guest Relations and sent Chris to go take pictures of things in the Pop lobby.

I guess he liked the shadow boxes haha I think this picture is funny because Tink’s DF was playing paparazzi when they went to WDW in March and Chris apparently decided to do the same. You can totally tell how ENORMOUS my rear is in this picture, don’t judge!

Then we walked back to the room and of course I was snapping pictures the whole way.

Definitely made a few stops here later in the week!

As we got closer to the Contemporary, I texted Mom to see where everyone was at. Grandma, Grandpa, Little Guy, Cuz, and Uncle were all in their adjoining rooms taking naps. Mom, Dad, and Sis were sitting in the Outer Rim lounge area, waiting for the maids to get done cleaning our room. So, Fiancé and I went up the two escalators to the Concourse Level and sat with them awhile.

We decided we had waited long enough, so Dad, Fiancé, and I headed up to the room to get changed into our swimming suits. Mom and Sis decided to check out the gift shops. As we were changing, Grandma texted me and told me that Little Guy and Uncle were awake and ready to swim too! So we went over and got Little Guy and Uncle and headed down to the pool. We didn’t have very long to swim, so we made sure Little Guy knew that ahead of time because we wanted to try and avoid a freak-out when we had to leave. We swam a good hour and a half, and by swim I mean- Fiancé and Little Guy spent the whole time going down the slide while Uncle waited at the bottom to catch Little Guy. Dad and I had fun just watching them go down. When it was time to leave, I said to Little Guy, “Guess what?! We’re going to get ready for the Luau now! Remember I told you about the fire guy?!” He, of course, remembered and was ready to head up to the room.

Chris and I each showered and he unpacked fully while I only had time to do some of my things. We left our room by 4 to catch a bus to the MK again and then hop on the monorail from there to the Poly.
He looks tired but was happy!

Mom and Sis were up in our room when we got back. We all got changed and ready for the Luau, then headed down to Grandpa and Grandma/Uncle’s room. After everyone was ready, I texted Kristen to let her know that we were heading down to the monorail to go to the Poly.

I was so excited. Little Guy was wearing the cutest Mickey Hawaiian shirt that I had found on E-bay. He asked me more about the Luau as we stood in line waiting for the monorail. I told him about the dancers, and that there would be music, and YUMMY food. He liked the good food part. haha. Before we knew it, a monorail was pulling up:

230-2.jpg

Of course, Little Guy had to stand up with Fiancé the whole way there. As we left the TTC, I had him come over to my window and I showed him that the Poly was where we were going. He said, “Where’s the woo-au at?” haha So, for the rest of the night, we all pronounced it “woo-au” instead. I’m sure Kristen and Chris thought we were nuts!

No way!! Either that or we’re nuts too haha

We were still a bit early and Kristen and Chris were still on their way, so we decided to hang out by the Ohana bar and get some drinks. Mom and I, of course, had to have Lapu Lapu’s. Grandma also had to try one after I told her what it was. I know Little Guy got another Buzz Lightyear light-up drink. As we were finishing up our drinks and paying our waiter, Kristen and Chris’s monorail was pulling in. I was getting so excited for them to meet my family- especially Little Guy since I talk about and send pictures of him all the time to Kristen. I walked over and met them as they walked into the lobby. Again, it felt like meeting up with old friends that I had known my whole life. I took them over to where my family was sitting and introduced them to everyone. Of course, Little Guy acted shy at first.

Tink’s family was AMAZING. They all were sooooo friendly and treated us as if we were part of their family. We couldn’t have asked for better people to be meeting up with and spending time with.

By that time, we could head down to Luau Cove and check-in. Kristen, Sis, and I led the group. They just fit right in with us. There really was no awkwardness at all! As we approached the check-in, Dad and Kristen went up to talk to the CM about seating us together. She did some talking into her mic and came up with the best she could- we would be at tables right next to each other! Good enough for us! Then, there were CM’s there putting lei’s on all of us. After we all got our lei’s, they had my whole group go one way for pictures and Kristen and Chris went another. Of course, Little Guy was on Fiancé’s shoulders and the CM asked us if we wanted him to get down. We figured if he was happy up there and would smile for the picture, why not leave him. Of course, when we got the picture back, we realized that he made a funny face! But, we got the pic anyway because it was hilarious. As you will see as the trip goes on, he had a reoccurring theme of making faces for the camera. As you can see here:

akdisney134.jpg

We went over our way to take our picture and of course there was just the two of us so our picture took half the time that Tink’s family’s did haha no biggie, we took some pictures and waited in whatever shade we could find because it was HOT!

103.jpg

104.jpg

Pretty Chris! Haha
105.jpg

After our picture, we headed over to the waiting area, which is where we met up with Kristen and Chris. By this time, Little Guy was getting comfortable with them. They would play with him and he would play back. His favorite thing- Kristen kept tickling him in his armpits. He would laugh his head off. That really occupied our time waiting to be seated. Before we knew it, they were herding us over to the side entrance. As our two groups headed to our tables, we realized that we were in the front!! As someone who goes to the Luau every year, this was a first for us!

The little guy was warming up to us and we was loving it!! Remember Tink, he had those five umbrellas which he insisted he had to have FIVE of them, not four, not six, just five lol It was pretty coincidental because I think our tables were set to be next to each other even before we asked to be seated by each other. Our seats were great!

We all got situated and figured out who was sitting where. Grandma, Uncle, Sis, Mom, and Dad were on one side and Cuz, Fiancé, Little Guy, and I sat on the side closest to Kristen and Chris.

Our table:

Of course, Little Guy was out of his chair in no time and over talking (FLIRTING) with Kristen. First thing he tried? To tickle her armpit!:

Then, he had to show her the umbrella he got with his Buzz Lightyear light-up drink. I stayed close to make sure he wasn’t going to poke her with it! I did manage to get him to smile for one of my favorite pics from the trip:

236-2.jpg

As soon as we took that, I was able to get Little Guy to sit in his chair and eat for awhile. Of course, he had to keep turning around and yelling things at Kristen and Chris. I hope they didn’t mind! Little Guy is all about doing things himself, so he HAD to use the tongs:

akdisney136.jpg

He was being so good. He really liked all the food, except the salad. While we were eating, he kept asking me, “When is the fire guy coming out?!” I had to tell him, “Not until the very end.” Then he asked me, “When do we eat volcano?!” He remembered me telling him back at home about the volcano dessert! I had to tell him, “Pretty soon!” Thankfully, the show started about then. He loved the opening number just as much as I do- Lilo & Stitch’s “Hawaiian Roller-Coaster Ride”. He had to turn around and tell Kristen what the song was from. haha.

Chris and I LOVED the food here. All of it was sooo good starting with the bread and the salad. They bring out the portions on these long plates and it was SOOO much food!

My BFF and the Little Guy being adorable as usual!

As the show went on, I would always tell him what was going on or point out things to him. I guess Mom caught me in the middle of that!:

momdisney083.jpg

He saw the flash and then had to pose again:

akdisney150.jpg

I’m not posting all the pics from that moment, but there is a whole bunch of pics of him making different funny faces. We lined them down in a row on our fridge so now we have a “slide show”. I always look at that and laugh.

Here’s some pics from the show:

It was cute because I’m pretty sure I heard Tink’s grandma pointing out which guys she thought were the hottest of the dancers lol

Then came the part where any couples celebrating their honeymoon, anniversary, or engagement had to go out and dance. Grandma and Grandpa loved it:

akdisney139.jpg

Fiancé and I went out there and of course, Little Guy came along. I laid my head on Fiancé and held Little Guy’s hand while Fiancé held him. I just wanted to stay in that moment forever-with my two guys.:

115.jpg

As you can see, Little Guy was getting hot so I took off his outer Hawaiian shirt and his socks and shoes. haha. Then, they had everyone come out who was celebrating a birthday. Cuz went out and Little Guy wanted to go too, so Mom took him and they hung out in the back. (Cuz is in the red shirt):

momdisney084.jpg

Then, it was time for volcano!!!! Little Guy and I yelled “VOLCANO!” along with the CM’s as they brought it to our table. I know it’s kind-of a different dessert, but I like it.

118.jpg

Of course, throughout the whole show, Kristen and I were talking. It was so much fun and it was hard to believe we were all really there after talking about it on the DIS and on the phone for so long! I was so happy that we lucked out with nice weather. That was the one thing I was worried about- them cancelling the show due to bad weather!

Before we knew it, it was time for the fire guy!

Little Guy was SO into it. He still talks about how he put the fire on his feet. He was leaning forward watching it for awhile, then laid back on Fiancé, just mesmerized by it all:

akdisney163.jpg

akdisney153.jpg

After him, they did their finale and we all clapped and cheered. Kristen turned around and told me that she was glad I talked her into doing the Luau with us. I was glad they had a good time because if they didn’t- the blame would’ve been on me! haha

I was soooo happy Tink had told us to try this, it was great and we’d definitely do it again!

As all the other people were heading out, we stayed back and figured out where we were going next.

Another SB er! I am what they call a half back around here. I moved all the way to Florida ( Tampa area) and then
Half way back. :rotfl2:

 I would like to be a half back!! Right now we want to move to FL but maybe we'll move half way back too!

Great update, guys!! Looks like everyone had a fun time at the luau-- that's adorable that they have all the celebrating couples come out and dance! The picture of the two of you with the Little Guy is definitely frame-worthy! Everyone looks great in that shot!

Great update! The luau seems like it would be so much fun. Sounds like you all enjoyed it!

Wonderful night!

I've never done the Luau but now I really want to try it. Y'all really did have great seats.

Little Guy really did look like he was having such a good time.

Wow guys!! What a great update!! The luau looks so fun!! I love looking at Little Guy being mesmerized by it all!! I will have to take Landon!! If he saw the fire guy now, I know he would continually point and say "hot!" haha. I'm trying to teach him to say fire...but I think he might just think it's called hot.

Kristen, you are so cute with Little Guy!! Is he a good tickler? I don't know what age they start actually learning how to effectively tickle. Right now Landon tries and just kind of moves his arms all crazy. So cute.

You guys got SO MANY good pictures!! I love it.

oh my gosh, what a fun update! All your pictures came out so good! I love the one of you, Tink and Little Guy! the luau looked so much fun. I definitely want to see it now!

Awesome update, ladies! I love all of the Luau pics. And the Little Guy's Hawaiian Shirt is so cute!

It's hard to believe, since I've stayed at the Polynesian almost every trip, that I've never been to the Luau. I really wanna go though. It looks like so much fun!

Fabulous update! It looks like you guys had a great time at the Luau! We went in 08 and it was a lot of fun! I know everyone in my family really enjoyed the food and the fire guy too ;)

Looks like a fun time at the Luau!! :thumbsup2
I have never looked into it or the food but it looks fun for a large group of people! :goodvibes :rolleyes1 Fire guy......;)
Love all of Little Guy's faces!!! He is quite the ham ;)
