You've Got a Friend in Me:TINKGURL & XOKTENOX's Adventures in WDW~UPDATE: 6/9 p.74

Hi ladies! I am getting caught up after being gone for a while. I tried to save all of my comments until I finished reading so hopefully I remember it all.

Tink – I can’t tell you how much your update of getting to the MK had my eyes tearing up. It reminds me so much of our trip taking Dylan when he was 1 ½. I loved watching him see everything for the first time (especially IASW, and also when he wanted to stand on the monorail) and I felt like I was reliving it while reading your update. What a special moment for you! You did a great job of expressing your emotions at that moment.

Your comment about having a stroller made me laugh. Yes, it is quite different dealing with that all of the time. After a while, you start to get used to it but I remember thinking, “Oh, this changes everything!” Ha, ha.

The pictures of the slide at the pool are so cute. I can’t wait until Dylan is old enough to do that. They both looked so happy. Is the thing the Little Guy is wearing at the pool a type of life vest? I have never seen one like that before.

The Chef Mickey pictures are wonderful. It looks like a perfect first character meeting.

I wish that our little boys could get together sometime. I know they would be great friends!

Whoa, I am so far behind. Great updates! Chef Mickey's looks like so much fun. Glad the little guy enjoyed it!

Awww! Your Chef Mickey pictures are adorable! You guys look like your having such a great time!

I love the look on Little Guys face when he went down the slide!!

What a perfect view of the fireworks from the stairs!! WOW!

What a great time at Chef Mickeys!!!! Little Guy was so cute with the characters. Some great memories there.

And love the pic of little guy going down the slide all scared. Isn't it funny how you think they hated it and then they want to do it over and over again.:)

I was a bit behind but all caught up now:goodvibes
Love the excitement of a child and seeing everything for a first time...there is just nothing like it. :goodvibes
Dinner at CM's was magical....he was so excited to meet everyone..you can just tell on his face that he is beaming! Great picture of him on his first alone slide ride!! Too cute :goodvibes

Tracy

Thanks for getting caught up!

You are right..there's nothing like it! Chef Mickey's was great!

Aww what great character pics! Little guy looks so thrilled. He was so brave for going down the slide all by himself!

We got some great pics the whole trip! Can't wait to share more!

What a wonderful time at Chef Mickey's for Little Guy's first character meetings! :thumbsup2

Thanks for reading glennbo!

I'm so on board for another trip report! Great start and I can't wait to hear more! The little guy is so big now. I was crying like a baby when he met his first character. Not such a good outlook for next year when we take our daughter and new baby for their first visits.:rotfl: Keep it coming.

Thanks for reading!

Aw, I can't wait for you to take your kids either!

Aw..I knew you'd relate to my trip because of Dylan. I wish our boys could get together too!

Yes, it is a type of life vest thing. He steps into it and a strap buckles up in-between his legs, then we have to pull it up so it's on. Works perfect!

Whoa, I am so far behind. Great updates! Chef Mickey's looks like so much fun. Glad the little guy enjoyed it!

Thanks girl for reading!

Haha, we caught his face at the perfect time!

It was a great spot to watch from!

I was so worried what he was going to think of the characters, but it ended up being a great experience!

I know! He was scared on it, but LOVED it.

Aww, I loved this update! The photos of your little guy's reactions were priceless! I was tearing up at your description of his reaction to his first character. That is exactly how I was when DD met June for the first time this past trip (her first character interaction of the trip). Happy tears all around!

Aw, tink!! Your updates were SO good!!

okay, I have to tell you...there are just certain days with a few clouds where I think "WOW!! This is just like Andy's room!" and I get so excited!! I've never met anyone else who thinks that so yay!! I'm not the only one!!

And I just love the People Mover! How crazy it must've been to see Space with the lights on. I would've DIED if it had been down while I was there since it was closed for refurb my whole trip last year!! Luckily, it wasn't!! :goodvibes

You will have to wait for the part in my tr where I test out the George legend again!!

Of course, you had me crying like a baby during the whole pool and Chef Mickey's parts. I could just feel the magic you're family lived!! Haha. You always make me cry!! But its okay...even commercials do! I'm such a sap! :rotfl2:

Hi Tink!!

I am SO sorry I haven't been keeping up and being here regularly! It's been REALLY hard finding any computer time at ALL since we left Asia, and I barely have enough time to keep up my own thread! But I do think about you, and remember that you asked me to take a picture of any Mickey phones I find.

By the way, I put up a small post about our DC Meet tonight. ;)

Aw..we had the BEST June when we ate at H&V later in the trip. You'll see...

You think of Andy's room too?! Okay, now I know I'm not alone! haha

Oh my gosh, it was horrible not being able to ride it last year!

I can't wait to hear about the George story!

Hi Liesa! It's okay, I know you're busy!!

I'll have to go look at the update!

I love all of the excited faces around the Chef Mickey's table. Esp Little Guy's. His excitement is so easy to see. Makes me remember back to my first trip to Disney with my little one. It never gets old sharing the magic with the ones you love, esp for the first time! :goodvibes

July 20, 2010

~tinkgurl's day: We planned on all meeting this morning around 7:15, so I woke up around 5:50 for my turn in the shower. This was one of the times we really missed having the two bathrooms like we do at OKW. But, we made it work. After I came out of the bathroom, I opened up the curtains so everyone else would start getting up. The view of the sunrise was amazing. I pulled the curtains all the way back, so all you could see on that side of the room was the outside and the sunrise. We got ready that way every morning. I send Kristen and a few DIS’ers a pic of the sunrise, except with the one I sent to Kristen I said “You’ll be here today before the sun goes down!”

Another thing that happened every morning: Grandma would text me when Little Guy was all dressed and ready to go. Our group would still be getting ready, so Fiancé would go down to their room and bring him back to our room. He had so much fun coming to our room. He’d go out on the balcony with Dad and Fiancé and look at the ducks in the pool, then they’d watch for boats. Every once in awhile, he’d come back in and try and help us get ready..one thing he liked doing-helping Sis with her makeup, haha:

momdisney048.jpg

Once we were all ready to go, I put sunscreen on the Little Guy and we headed back down to Grandma and Grandpa’s room to round up the rest of the group. We were right on schedule! We made it down and onto a monorail around 7:15! Of course, as soon as we leave the Contemporary, the monorail stops. They announce that they are doing their morning testing. UGH! We had flashbacks from our 2001 trip all together when it seemed like we ran into the morning testing almost every day.

Little Guy kept asking why we were stopped. We tried to occupy him with pointing out things we could see like the Castle, The Polynesian- which we were going to later that night for the Luau with Kristen and Chris-, and the boats out on the water. I also pointed out to him that both he and I were wearing our Winnie the Pooh shirts for our breakfast with Pooh and his friends. He was so excited!

I was so worried we were going to miss most of the morning EMH at the MK. After waiting about 15-20 minutes, we started moving again. Thank goodness. I’m claustrophobic and I was starting to freak out! We eventually made it around the Seven Seas Lagoon and over to the MK around 8:10. SO-moral of the story-we could’ve easily walked from the Contemporary, but wanted to save Grandma and Grandpa from walking some more.

As we made it through the bag checks and finger scanning, Little Guy and I were getting excited. We were back at the MK! I told him we were going to walk through the Castle and go ride Peter Pan. His reaction- “Yay!” And then a minute later, “We can walk in the Castle?!” haha He thought it was so neat we were actually going in the Castle. I told him about the walls and how we were going to have to touch it because it feels so neat.

Since we had missed the opening show, there wasn’t too bad of a crowd walking down Main St. Of course, Little Guy ended up on Fiancé’s shoulders again:

akdisney096.jpg

As we made our way down Main St. and closer to the Castle, I was busy taking all the sights in. The piped in smells coming from the candy shop and the bakery, all the names up on the second story windows, and the music playing in the background. It’s all those little details and effort that WDW puts in to making this place truly an escape from reality and as if you’re really there living in that time period you may be in.

We were making it closer to the Castle and Little Guy and I were clapping.

akdisney098.jpg

Sis stood back and got a pic of all of us walking up to the Castle. It’s such a good pic that we have it framed:

akdisney099.jpg

Walking into the Castle:

akdisney101.jpg

See the balcony? On it is the original design of the railings that go all the way down the walkways up to the Castle. However, for the walkways, they had to add a rose in the middle because kids were getting their heads stuck in the holes!

Little Guy thought the murals were neat. He recognized the step-sisters right away. We had just watched Cinderella several times before the trip, so he knew the story. We waited for a group of people to leave, and walked up to touch it.:

akdisney103.jpg

He thought it was neat for about two seconds, then he was ready to go ride Peter Pan! Haha. The line was already outside, but they weren’t weaving all the way down and around inside so we got in line. Of course, I had to point out Tinkerbell:

akdisney104.jpg

He thought he was cool because he was wearing a hat and sunglasses just like daddy:

akdisney105.jpg

While we were in line, Mom and Dad headed to Winnie the Pooh to get FP’s for Mom, Dad, Little Guy, Grandma, and Grandpa. Then, they headed to Space to get FP’s for me, Fiancé, Sis, and Cuz. As we made it closer to the loading area, we asked who Little Guy wanted to ride with. Of course, it was me and Fiancé. He was attached to Fiancé all week. As we were the next ones to get on, I looked at the time- we had only waited 20 minutes! I think the shortest time ever for the stand-by line!

Little Guy sat in-between us, but he could see everything fine. We kept pointing everything out to him. Sis managed to get a pic of us:

akdisney108.jpg

When we got to the part with the pirates, he said “Those are the bad guys!” And when we made it around the corner with Peter Pan, Wendy, and the boys happy and safe, we clapped and cheered. As we waited for our ship to make it to the platform, he said “It’s over?!” I agree with him, it’s such a short ride!

We found Mom and Dad, who were sitting on a bench waiting for us near the exit area. We checked the time and realized that we better start heading over to the Crystal Palace to get checked in. There was a huge crowd of people waiting to be seated. Great. This was going to be interesting! So, while everyone else found places to sit and wait for our name, Fiancé and I took Little Guy to look around. It was such a beautiful morning! We went up to a railing and watched the birds and ducks. The big, tall white birds Little Guy named “Daddy-Long Leg birds”. haha. So the rest of the trip, if any of us saw one we’d say “Hey! A Daddy-Long Leg bird!” I had to step back and get a picture of my two boys.

228-1.jpg

I sent Kristen and a few DIS’ers this pic. This time, I said to Kristen, “See you here soon!”

We had been waiting for quite some time now and still hadn’t been seated! After awhile of watching the birds, we started walking towards Main St. I could hear some singing and knew right away what it was- the trolley! We found a stop to stand and watch the singers and dancers on the trolley. Little Guy thought the horse was neat. I said to him, “I hope he doesn’t poop! I don’t want to step in it! Ew!” and Little Guy was laughing so hard. They started singing “Walking down the middle of Main St. USA” and Little Guy was got down to hold my hands and dance with me. Just as we were waving them bye after the song was over, Mom came and told us that our table was ready! Good timing!

We met up with the rest of the group and the CM waiting to seat us. We walk inside the restaurant and she stops us. She asks us if we’ve ever been there and we said some of us have been, but not for breakfast, and some of us had never been. She proceeded to SLOWLY tell us about the whole set-up. What food was at what station, where the characters would be coming from, and who knows what else. Little Guy was getting antsy to sit down, I was getting antsy to sit down, we all just wanted to go to our table instead of standing in the way of everyone! Finally, she takes us to our table and we figure out where would be best for Little Guy to sit so he can be by the characters. He wanted to be in-between Fiancé and I, so Sis sat on one side of me and Cuz sat on the other side of her. Everyone else went up and started getting food while Mom, Fiance, and I stayed with the Little Guy just in case any characters came.

One by one, the characters made their way to our table. They hardly interacted, posed for a picture, then went on to the next table. I was disappointed. It was much different than our character interaction from the night before. Little Guy did manage to get some hugs in though!

First was Pooh:

Little Guy’s favorite from this meal, Piglet:

Piglet was the best interaction we had! Little Guy was in heaven. As we were finishing up eating and were waiting for the bill, Fiancé, Sis, and I decided to take Little Guy and Cuz over to get in line for Dumbo since I was dying to take him on it. I got Little Guy all clean from his messy waffle dips into the syrup and we headed back to Fantasyland.

Oh, I just loved this last update! I like how descriptive you are in describing everything just how you saw it. It makes me feel like I'm right there with you.
The morning sunrise picture was really beautiful. I bet Kirsten was getting so excited getting all of those pictures from you!

Very cute picture. :)

I am looking forward to seeing all of the BIG MEET pictures. I was so excited to get the phone picture of you two crazy girls together. :goodvibes

Sorry the CP interaction wasn't fantastic (and what was up with the long introduction? Most people can figure out how a buffet works!), but that's awesome the Piglet was good! Love the shot of the Little Guy giving him a big squeeze!!

I didn't know they did a morning test like that on the monorail, I guess I thought they would do it without passengers.

Great timing on Peter Pan. I think any ride with FP's, if you can go standby before the time those with FP's can go, the wait is never that long. Those FP people slow ya down, unless you have the FP.:)

Love the Piglet photos. Little Guy wasn't going to let go was he?

Thanks so much! We were up early and it was so worth it.

I hope you do think of 'daddy-long leg birds' next time you see one! haha
