You've got 24 hrs in NYC...On your mark, get set..GO!

OP - How was your trip? What did you end up doing?

Hi! I kept forgetting to come back and update. We had an amazing time. Pretty expensive time too..lol.

We drove to Port Imperial Ferry station, parked and took the ferry over. Very convenient. Alittle on the pricey side. But still cheaper then parking in the city and paying the bridge tolls.

The first day we stayed around Times Square. We walked everywhere on the 1st day. Ate lunch at Ellen's Stardust Diner. We both loved it. Then we shopped and shopped and shopped some more. By 10p we were exhausted.

The next morning we got up at 530 and headed over to the Today show. I was my plan to go there all along, my daughter grumbled until she heard Arianna Grande was having a surprise mini concert. So we watched the Today show, it was live outside, then the concert.

After the concert, we came back to pack and chill for a bit. We checked out and the hotel helped us to order 9/11 Memorial tickets. We had the hotel hold our bags and off we went. I bought $20 in subway tickets and a map and we were off. First we went to the Staten Island Ferry, which was pretty cool. Then took the subway over to the memorial and cried my eyes out...from there we took the subway to Chinatown/Little Italy. But I don't think we got far enough into either, because we both turned to each other with a "this is it? kinda face. We were starving but couldn't find a restaurant to eat at. We ended up coming back to the hotel area and eating around there.

After lunch we grabbed our luggage, hailed the NYwaterway bus to the ferry and we were on our way home.

The little trip was wonderful. I can't wait to save and do it again. I'd only make 2 changes. Go when the weather is cooler. It was in the 80's but humid from the off and on rain. A fall or spring trip would be perfect. Also better shoes. I have bad feet but I thought I found a pair of sandals that could handle the walking. Alas, my feet were killing me. Right from the very first walk.

I wanted to talk about safety because I know I was a little nervous a it was just me and my 14year old. At no time did I feel unsafe. Not at 10 pm. Or at 6am. Not even on the subway. The police presence was all around as well.
