You're the best parents in the world! I gotta pee! Where's My Tooth? Trip report!

Love the update :thumbsup2. I know you are so happy to have Lacey home even if she is gone a lot. I know I am so blessed that Amanda still lives at home. I can't wait to hear how Lacey reacted to the change from Pop to CBR.

It is so tough to be the grandma. Austin called me this morning and had to walk me through his fantasy baseball league so he could make changes before the deadline. His internet was down at home. I said you could drive to the house and use mine. He stated he was too tired. He had been at the lake all weekend with friends and was going to bed. Oh to be 17.

That is so very true. It's funny now that I am doing my report the rain doesn't seem so bad. We sure did a lot of things between the drops er downpours. Maybe that is why I had such a good time. It allowed me to enjoy each moment instead of feeling so rushed.

My mother is so out of the loop when it comes to modern day technology. She doesn't own a computer. I had to buy her a cell phone because she didn't have one. She has no idea what I'm talking about when I mention text messaging. I have to constantly tell her it's okay to call Lacey on her cell phone (that's all the mission kids have) because she's on our calling plan and it doesn't cost anything. She does what we call "speed talking phone calls" to Lacey because she thinks it using up her minutes.:rotfl:

I guess we are used to rain at Disney since we usually go in May/June. We were very pleasantly surprised by the August weather.

I love the hundred acre woods guys! We tried that character spot, but the line was too long so we skipped it. Maybe next time.
I know I will never go on Primeval World! Just the ride description makes me nauseated:sick::laughing:

I guess we caught the characters at just the right time. Even when we left the greeting spot, there were only about two or three other families behind us.

Primeval Whirl is a cool ride. The only thing I don't like is the heights. I can handle the spinning and dipping. You can tell from one of my pictures that the spins are pretty serious.

Aww... I just love Pooh and Friends!! Especially Eeyore he's my very favorite!!:lovestruc

The boys talked me into riding Primeval Whirl this year.:sad2: It goes much faster than I thought it would and all that spinning!!!! I can certainly understand why you sat out the next ride.:thumbsup2 Great picture of Hunter in Primeval Whirl--too funny!!(especially w/one of the other guests looking on:laughing:)

You know how John can't stand Stitch? Well, for some reason, Lacey thinks Pooh and Eeyore are just plain dumb.:confused3 She'll still get in line for them because she wants to take a picture with Hunter but she could really care less.

I like the Primeval Whirl. I just don't like the heights and you get swung around a good bit took. It reminds me of the Tilt-A-Whirl at our local fair.

I'm in! Can't resist a trippie by a mom named Lisa! I only got to page 32, but the BBQ is calling to me, so I'll be back later to finish getting caught up!

Love it so far, very entertaining! :cool1:

Welcome aboard Lisa! I hope you'll catch up soon as I am leaving for our next WDW vacation in just two weeks! I don't blame you for stopping though....trip report? BBQ? BBQ WINS HAND DOWN!;)

If I couldn't talk to Lacey at least two or three times a week, I'd really go nuts. When she's off on a mission trip or doing a youth camp and she can't charge her phone every day, I get extremely antsy. You are, indeed, lucky to have Amanda at home still.

I'm here (better late than never huh?) Now I am going back to get caught up. :goodvibes

Welcome! It's always good to have a new reader come along. You'll soon see that we had quite a few "mishaps" along the way.

Now that I've responded to everybody.....Good morning ya'll! I've gotta get movin' on this trip report because we start our next drive to Disney in just 14 days!

This weekend, we're having a garage sale so that Lacey can get some spending money for Disney. We don't have a ton of stuff to sell but it's enough to maybe make a couple of hundred dollars.

Hunter already has over $300.00 to take to Disney. He earned his by John and I saving our spare change and Hunter getting good grades.

So, let me get the boss all settled down this morning and I'll come back with another Animal Kingdom day installment.

I can't believe you only have two weeks left to go! :woohoo: I'm so excited for you, and even more excited that we DISer's get another TR out of it!

After Hunter and John had ridden Primeval Whirl for the second time, they wanted to go again. Fine, I said, I'll just go see what kind of goodies I can find at a nearby store. While they whirled around, I ducked into the little store right outside DinoRama. I can't remember the name.....hum :rolleyes1.....nope, don't remember. Anyway, I looked around and found that they had some really cute, semi-cheap things especially over in the far corner (I've always found clearance to be tucked away in a corner.) I found a few cute little stocking stuffers and was paying for them just as John and Hunter were walking in. They looked around for a minute and announced they were ready for some ice cream.

Off we went to find a vendor. It wasn't long before we found a castmember selling these:

I got one of the orange juice bars, John got a Mickey head bar and Hunter got the ice cream sandwich. When John started to take out his wallet, the sweet castmember said they were on the house for our anniversary and birthday. Another freebie!

Before I post these next two pictures, let me tell you a little story. Our first trip to Disney was when Lacey was 11. We were in the Magic Kingdom and kept seeing people walking around with the Mickey head ice cream bars. Lacey wanted one really badly so we found the first vendor selling ice cream. It was near the tea cups and our next destination was Mickey's Toontown (Hey that's my name!). We bought all of us some ice cream and moved down the trail a bit towards Toontown before we opened them up.

Lacey had just opened her's and wanted to have her picture taken in front of the Mickey's Towntown sign with her ice cream bar. I told her to stand there and take a bite of the ice cream. She took one bite and the whole thing fell off the stick and onto the hot pavement! Poor baby, she had waited all day for the ice cream and then dropped it all. Of course, we bought her another one but it's been a running joke in the family.

Now that I've given you this little McBride memory, I'll post the next two pictures. We took them to send to Lacey.

For those of you fussing at us right now for being cruel to Lacey, let me just say that Lacey laughed her butt off when she saw the pictures of her daddy acting like his ice cream was falling off the stick.

Funny pictures having been taken, we watched the giant turtles in the enclosure behind us while we ate our ice cream. We also people watched. I love watching the different kinds of folks walking around Disney World. It's simply amazing to us. Yes, we are some strange people ourselves.

After our refreshing ice cream and relaxing sit-down, we walked on over to Dinosaur. The wait was really short because we walked right on in and waited just a bit before being shown into the preshow area.

When Hunter was really young, he didn't know if he would like Dinosaur or not but after watching a program on the Travel Channel about how Disney operates behind the scenes, he decided that the dinosaurs were just plastic and water hoses (I guess he saw the wires and thought they were waterhoses?:confused3). It's now a family favorite. Because we've ridden it many times before, we know where the camera is and we try to act scared for the picture.

Here's the pic which was just so-so:

Hunter saw this dinosaur sculpture and wanted his picture made with it. He's such a ham:

****My poor boss has just realized that I'm leaving in just two weeks and is really starting to stress. Let me clean off my desk a bit (he keeps piling things on) and I'll come back with more.

A Mickey Bar on a hot day:cloud9: I don't think you were too mean with the pictures. Family jokes are the best:goodvibes

Too funny about the ice cream bar pictures. I loved that picture with DH acting like his ice cream was falling! I bet your DD did get a kick out of it.

Love the joke. Lacey is your child, of course she thought it was funny. We are the family of jokesters. Not mean, just funny ones. Gives you something to talk about at get-togethers. Or at restuarants, shopping, and open events everyone is laughing and strangers look at you and wish they were part of the fun too.

When we did our dinosaur pic I knew from reading the Dis where the camera was so I told everyone. That is how Tim knew exactly when to give Sandi the choke hold. Or maybe he did it the whole trip and got lucky on the pic.

For some reason, I am almost too organized this trip and I feel like I am missing out on the excitement. No, I take that back, we found out that two of the shirts that I bought John for Disney (he wore them while in Georgia), aren't going to work. He likes his shirts big and I bought two ringer tees for him. He doesn't like the ringer thingie on the arms so I'll have to find some other kind of tshirts.

I would love to have one of those orange juice bars for my lunchtime dessert.

I actually had a couple of the ice cream drop pictures but I guess our Animal Kingdom day is the only ones I could find. I can't imagine being in a family of stuffy people. Ugh! That'd be the absolute worse.:scared:

I remember the choke hold picture you are talking about.

It is unreal that your time is getting so close. If I had more vaca days I would join you. I have 3 1/2 days till Oct 1. Then I start the cycle over. Don informed me while we were in Vegas we can retire Dec 2011. Yippee. I really wanted to go sooner. It's a money thing. Imagine that.

Lisa: I would LOVE to go on a trip with you guys! You all sound so funny! I agree, no fun being stuffy.

Ginny: How wonderful that you can retire in 2011! It will be here before you know it. I've been working at my current job for nearly eleven years now, and will be eligible for retirement in 14 years. I will be 44!!! Everyone tells me I won't, though. I said, "you never know :rolleyes1". DH and I are working on it!

I have worked for doctors since 1971. Don has been elegible for retirement for almost 5 years but the longer he works the bigger his pension gets, the smaller our insurance premiums get and by then we can have social security too if there is any. My pension is in IRA's and right now about 1/2 of what it was. It was our fun money. I planned on it lasting me 10 years. So now maybe only 5 or 6. I bet we can still have some fun. I'm taking Don on an Alaskan cruise when he retires and in 2 years we are going to ...............

DISNEYLAND for Sheri's 40th birthday. She says we can all come. Yay for us.

An Alaskan cruise sounds awesome! And I want to go to Disneyland. Macy's had a contest during Mother's Day to win a trip from Disneyland in CA to WDW in Florida, all expenses paid. I didn't win, unfortunately, but I had high hopes!!!

On Social Security, by the time I get to be eligible for it, I doubt there will be any at all, which is sad considering how long we've all paid into it. :guilty:

You'd be more than welcome to come along! Retirement sounds soooo good right now!

Girl, I told you to get your bags packed and be ready to hope on. The offer still stands!:lmao:

I wish there were more places here in Louisiana that even offered you a pension plan. The only places are large corporations. Certainly, nothing in the legal field. I'll probably still be rolling into some law office when I am 90 years old.:rotfl2:

My mother has always, always dreamed of going to Alaska. Her sister-in-law and some friends went on an Alaskan cruise and tried to talk my mama into going but she thought it was too much money. I told her she can't take it with her, she might as well spend it.

I state to my girls all the time "I am not taking it with me and I'm not leaving it for you. You have jobs and can figure out for yourselves what you need to do". Of course I'm leaving what I can to them but they don't have to know that. We are thankful for the union job Don has had all these years. Major benefit. I worked for the last set of docs 17 years till they retired and I've been here 7. I am glad I don't have to go another 10.

The neurosurgeons gave me a lot more in my pension than the psychiatrist does but I will take what he gives.

Lisa, I can't run as fast as you need me to move when you come flying by my house on your way to the world! And I don't want bugs in my teeth since with Lacey going, I'd be strapped to the top of the car. :rotfl:

I think I'm safer staying home and you can tell us all about it when you get back. I can't wait! :woohoo:
