You're the best parents in the world! I gotta pee! Where's My Tooth? Trip report!

We had no real agenda for our next day as it was our "sleep in/do whatever day". Wouldn't you know it! We slept in until a very late....drumroll.....9:45 a.m. which was 8:45 a.m. our time. Not really that late was it? John has to take his seizure medication at 7:00 a.m. so I was actually up earlier but dozed off again.

I've said it before, we aren't big breakfast eaters so we just snacked on stuff we had brought from home. Yes, Hunter ate his two vitamin/nutrition laden Little Debbie Fudge Rounds for breakfast.

We tend to get ready in shifts while on vacation. I am up first. I wake up Hunter and let him eat and watch television. I keep punching John until he wakes up which takes a while sometimes. He can't help it though because his night time seizure meds really dope him up.

Hunter and I decided to walk around the Caribbean Beach grounds while John showers and gets ready. Here are a few pictures. Again, the freakin' dates are screwed up because I can't leave well enough alone and I started messing with the date setter thingie. Ughhhh!!!!

*****INTERRUPTION***** Crap it! Boss got back from lunch early (he usually doesn't come back until 1:30 p.m. ) Be back later.

Interrupted mid-update....HOW RUDE!! LOL!

Cool history at your building....it would be fun to really dig into that and find out more!

Bosses? Why do think they are in charge anyway. Most of us are early risers. Thank goodness. Just cause we are up early doesn't mean we move. We are pokey getting ready for sure. We wanted to stay at CBR but CSR won because of the queen beds. Will give it a try next time.

Okay, boss is stuck on the phone and I can't get to him so I might as do a little report posting.:rolleyes1

The humidity was doing a real number on my hair this day so we had little clippies in it to try and tame the swirls. I could also tell I was really tried because my eye was drooping a bit more this day.

Let me stop a minute. I told you guys in the first post that I have Bell's Palsy. For those of you who don't know what this is (don't feel bad 'cause I had no clue what it was until I found out I had it). Here's a little medical test/knowledge fact for you today. There is a nerve behind your ear that is very sensitive. For the life of me, I have forgotten what the name of the nerve. It'll come to me after I sign off. Anyway, if this nerve gets damaged, it will actually fracture and regrow/repair itself.

The problems associated with Bell's Palsy? Drooping eye, sagging mouth, temporary paralysis, pain behind the ear, severe headaches and a bunch of other stuff. Anyway that nerve behind my ear repaired itself alright but it grew back incorrectly. Thus: 1) The right side of my face is a little puffier because the muscles aren't as strong; 2) My right eye looks a little smaller than the other and squenches up when I smile; 3) My right eye has crocodile tears when I eat anything spicy, sour or salty; 4) I'll get really bad headaches every once in a while and pain behind my ear; 5) I have more wrinkles on my face because the muscles aren't doing as good of a job as they could be. I'm thinking I like that because I have an excuse for the wrinkles. :) ; 6) My face and neck will actually "freeze" up and I can't move them for a minute or so. But, I can't complain too much because....heck, it could be worse and it's nothing that will kill me.

But, it can take a while for the nerve to repair itself, normally a few weeks to a few months. Well, for me, it's been two...almost three years and I still have problems. Lacey and I were going to the mall one day and stopped at McDonalds to get a Coke on the way. By the time we made it to the mall (8 miles away), my face was getting numb and it was hard for me to drink out of my McDonald's straw. I thought it was because I had a fever blister in the corner of my mouth and had just put some medicine on it. Anyway, we shopped for several hours and I noticed my muscles in my face would freeze up. That night, I have excruciating pain behind my ear. This was on a Saturday. On Monday, I called John's neurologist who told me immediately what had happened. I went in and she checked all my vitals and looked at my eyes and face and confirmed Bell's Palsy. Most recent tests show that viral infections can cause damage. Remember the fever blister? Who the heck knew that could cause so much damage.

For about a week, I had to, literally, hold my bottom lip up to talk because it sagged so much.

Oh well, enough of your medical lesson for today. (I warned you before that I was a detail person.) By the way, you all know that we are jokesters at my house so when my Bell's Palsy acts up, my husband and kids try to make light of us and say "Do you want your face to freeze that way?" Ugh! Kids! Husbands!

So, feel free to really look at the wrinkles, puffies, droopies and saggies on my face. Nanny nanny nanny! I've got an excuse!

Let's get back to the pictures 'cause I know you're tired of your lesson for the day.

We saw these gorgeous flowers growing around the resort:

We decided to go back to the room and see if John was ready. But, not before Hunter took a turn in the hammock. It was super windy on this day and he almost turned over!

****INTERRUPTION: He's off the phone. Gotta go!

Shhhhh, don't tell my boss on here. Can ya'll see the pictures in my last post? I can't see them. Maybe photobucket is messing with my pictures again!

Lisa, my DH also has a Bell's Palsy. He first got it a couple of years ago while at the beach. July 4. Had to drive to Pensacola to the hospital. It lasted for 3 full weeks before getting better. Now when he is tired the ole eye does the drooping thing. He gets cranky. So we tell Grumpy to go to bed and rest his eyeball. We are evil.
Love those pics at CBR.

Wow, your camera certainly takes clear daytime photos. Love the flower pics!

The only reason I know what Bells Palsy is is b/c a co-worker recently had it. She only took like a month to get over hers. But seriously, fever blisters cause that??? I get fever blisters from time to time. :scared1:

LOL! :rotfl::rotfl:

Sheesh! Two posts and John isn't even out of bed yet! :lmao:

He's out of bed just moving slow as a snail. I swear that man takes way longer than me to get ready. I don't understand why because his hair is about 1 inch long, he wears a ballcap, a tshirt and shorts every day. :confused3

Isn't Bell's Palsy the weirdest thing? The doctor told me that I could have the nerve clipped and see if it would regrow correctly this time but I said "Uh no! I'd rather deal with it. I don't want anybody clipping anywhere near my face!"

I was all alone (or so I thought) until about 11:00 when my boss came in and complained about the back door being opened again. So, I guess I wasn't alone. I took a few more pictures this morning and didn't see anything. It's so hard to tell though when you just look at the little digital camera screen. I'll look at them on my computer tonight.

My boss went next door to his parents' side (well there's a large room that separates the two of us) and swore he heard goings-on other there. His mom and dad are in Houston, Texas at MD Anderson hospital so we know it wasn't them.

I asked my boss this morning if his mom had a guest book or any kind of log of who stayed in the hotel. He said she didn't which really surprised me because that lady doesn't throw anything away. When I say she doesn't throw anything away, I mean ANYTHING. I think I'll post some pictures of one of the rooms and let you guys see just how much junk is in there.

Anyway, he did say that the original building was built back in the 1800's and that part of it burned and was restored/rebuilt.

He has heard that a few "questionable" people stayed here. When I asked about "questionable", he said people like those who used to visit Hot Springs, Arkansas. Now, for those who don't know about Hot Springs, Arkansas, Al Capone and his "friends" used to go there often to use the hot springs bath houses there. He's got me thinking that some shady things may have gone on in this building.:scared1:

He also said that Clark Gable stayed here for several days on his way to somewhere, I don't remember where. I can't imagine why in the world Clark Gable would want to come to Monroe, Louisiana.:confused3 There's not a thing here. Maybe back in the day, it was interesting?

I am going to have to get Mrs. Nelda (my boss' mother) cornered and ask her for more juicy details. I know that she knows more than my boss does since she's a history buff.

OOOH Lisa! I'm chomping at the bit! I can't wait to hear all the goodies you get out of Mrs. Nelda!

I hope they are doing well at MD Anderson....They certainly are in very good hands at that hospital!

I'm off to read the latest installment. This trip report is really getting me in the Disney mood! Thank you!

Now the boss has a client with him so I've got a few more minutes.

Interrupted mid-update....HOW RUDE!! LOL!

I'm definitely going to keep digging. It's gonna drive me nuts until I find out what happened here.

Yeah, if my boss wasn't one of my dear friends, I'd probably fire him.:rotfl2:

My camera takes really good daytime pictures and it probably would take some good evening/inside ones too if I could just figure it out.

I had never even heard of Bell's Palsy before I ended up with it. The doctor said it could have been the fever blister or it could have been something as simple as maybe hitting it with a brush while brushing my hair. Who knows? All I know is I have a messed up face.

Thanks for such a great report! I have 89 days before we head "home" again! Your report is helping time go by.

we love CBR too. We decided to try Poly on our last trip in December and felt it wasn't for us so back to CBR.

Sorry about your DH toe, but it sounds as if he made the best of it.

Can't wait for the next update! Keep them coming!

Erin

Erin, Thanks for joining in. I don't think I could ever make myself pay the big bucks for Poly so the CBR will have to fulfill my Disney/beach needs.

Hi Becky,

I know what you mean about wanting more information. I may just have to bring a picnic lunch for Mrs. Nelda and I and sit on the patio out back. I'll ply her with food!

She is just going for a check up. She's been cancer free for two years!

The reason I started the trip report was to keep me sane until August.

finally got caught up. only gone for couple days and i get soooooo far behind. love your updates. so funny kept me laughing the whole time. i love your pics of the CBR. i want to stay there now.

I spent last night and during my lunch hour catching up on the trip reports I have been reading. I just love reading all about other people's Disney vacations so I've subscribed to quite a few.

We're quite a funny bunch of folks.

I love the CBR and will miss in this August but I know we'll be back there someday.

All I know how to do with my camera is what I do on "Auto". Everything else is just too hard for me...

You have a beautiful face! Stop making fun of yourself! That's your family's job. ;)

That's funny, I haven't laughed so hard in while. Thanks.

I've been playing around a little with the settings to see what works and what doesn't. I usually keep it set on Auto but then found a few more....low light, up close, action and even video. Who would have thunk it? Anyway, I've been walking around the yard taking pictures of some of my flowers, some of the old birdhouses that my dad built when I was just a kid (yes, they are REALLY old) and, of course, my family. We have a huge Oak tree in our backyard and have an old timey rope/board swing. I got Hunter to swing while I took some "action" shots and they turned out pretty good.

Oh and I've been taking pictures of absolutely nothing trying to capture a ghost.:rotfl: I'm telling ya'll, I'm gonna get something on camera and ya'll will be the first to see it.

My family doesn't ever let up on the "do you want your face to freeze like that?" line. I think they do it to make me feel less self conscious. Bless their little fartheaded souls.

Hey Lisa,
just wanted to let you know I am still here, through Pocohontas gate, through the big toe, through your own grinning ghost:lmao:and loving every bit of it! Thanks so much for writing with the detail you do, its keeping me going every day. 54 sleeps till disneyworld for this overgrown child:goodvibes

I've got just a few minutes before I leave my job that pays and head home to the job that doesn't pay. So, I thought I'd post a little more.

Hunter and I made our way back to our room to see if John was ready and we were amazed to see that he was.

Before we went anywhere else, we wanted to go to Old Port Royale and take pictures of the pool construction. The main pool was undergoing a complete overhaul and my CBR Dis friends wanted pictures of the progress. I couldn't see over the fence, so I made John, literally, stand on a railing and take these pictures. My aren't we the super sleuths!

And this is a picture that I took of John and Hunter when they were trying to act all nonchalant when John had to jump off the railing because another guest was walking down the boardwalk towards us.

Okay, just a mini update 'cause I'm headed home.
