You're Killing Me Disney...

No, No and No.

It is NOT a benefit of your ADR. It does at times come as an indirect benefit of booking early. No, Disney does not tell you that getting in to an empty park ahead of all others is part of your ADR. If anything these boards should be leading people down the correct path .... that it is possible you may get this perk but equally possible you will not. It is a gamble.

No, they do not open this restaurant in the middle of the park so that you can get in the park ahead of all others. That is silly. The restaurants that tend to get PPO ADRs are the restaurants that are popular and often fully booked. They are restaurants that Disney knows they can make more revenue from if they expand RESTAURANT hours. They are willing to do this in the mornings because many families are up early and willing to spend money on breakfast. CP and CRT were doing this for years long before 7DMT became a factor. This is all about REVENUE and nothing about letting guests in early. They don't care why someone is willing to pay that much for breakfast, they are happy to take their money.

No, Disney should never say they won't change hours. So a hundred folks lost the gamble, the thousands that are now in the park earlier are very happy. Park hours are park hours - Dining hours are dining hours. Not connected. Not to revenue or operations.

The OP wants Disney to promise set hours so her ADR to get a benefit not included in her ADR is guaranteed................ it's not part of her ADR.

Calm down. My goodness.

I did not mean its a benefit as in "Included with your ADR is . . . ". Do not take things so literally. It is an added benefit if you can eat and then beat the crowds. We have done PPO ADRS and we picked the restaurant because we wanted to eat there but we picked the time because of the ADDED benefit of getting in early. Getting in Fantasy Land or Adventure Land completely empty is a pretty big added benefit.

Some how me thinks that Disney did in fact choose the hours of the restaurants for a reason. I don't seriously think they "forgot" that no one could get in before 9 and decided to make Crystal Palace open at 8. They knew full well people would make the early ADRS to get in the parks. If they didn't think that would be a great bonus, they would not have chosen that time. There are plenty of resort restaurants to eat breakfast for early risers some with much better and cheaper food. Of course its about revenue. That doesn't mean the guest doesn't get something extra too. The added bonus of getting in the park early makes the 8:05 reservations very popular and so in turn makes for more revenue for Disney.

She didn't say she wanted Disney to promise set hours. It would just be nice if they were at some pointt. Not at 6 months but at some point. They won't do it because it works well for other guests. That doesn't make it any less frustrating for the one's whose plans it upsets.

On the contrary, I think with MM+ they can anticipate demand even more now than ever in the past. I think they are using that additional data to "right size" their staffing and hours after gathering as much info as possible from resort and FP+ advance reservations.

The irony is that Disney getting guests to schedule things further in advance has given them the information they need to make more last minute adjustments.

Don't forget about the number of guests who stay off property and buy tickets when they get there. As hard as it is for us on the Dis to imagine, there are many people who do not plan in advance. These guests cannot be quantified. The evidence also indicates they are not coming.

As much as Disney hoped MM+ would give them accurate and precise numbers, I think the evidence is to the contrary. Otherwise, park schedules and cast staffing would be set in stone. Yet they are more unpredictable than ever right now. ADRs merely suggest interest, as anyone can make them regardless of tickets. Even FP+ reservations aren't a guaranteed indicator of attendance to a particular park at a particular time. We humans don't function along set algorithms when touring wdw. Plans change last minute for a variety of reasons. The only data that still seems to actually matter is the number of bodies actually entering a park, which can't be known 100 percent until day of. Hence the frequency of early releases for cast as of late.

I firmly believe that MM+ exists for the most part to encourage guests to shop instead of queue for rides. It in theory increases sales and decreases demand on an already stressed infrastructure. It also eliminates the need for additional cast in much the same way as self check at the grocery store. This should be a win for guests, as Disney should theoretically be able to offer guests more with the savings, but guests are losing out too. Something is wrong when characters and entertainment are constantly being nixed. What that is, I don't know, but I think many of us can sense that there is a problem, as shadowy as it seems to be.

You are right in the sense that they were able to track resort guests and realize the numbers were down, hence the CM perks. None of which I was able to take advantage of, sadly.

I never said the information was accurate and complete. ;) Just more extensive than ever before and they can probably identify trends with it.

If it makes you feel any better, we were at MK for an early CP ADR. We arrived to find a huge line. They only let in small groups of people at a time, and by the time we got in, there was a good amount of people already there. It's not empty the way it used to be in the early morning hours, as so many people have extra early ADRs. So keep the reservation if you want to eat there, otherwise, it's probably better to just plan on getting there for rope drop.
