Your worst meal @ WDW and your best meal @ WDW...

Here is the updated tally, as of 3:50 PM on 4/21/04:

BEST MEAL: :D

‘Ohana – 12
Le Cellier – 10
California Grill – 8
Artist Point – 6
Boma – 6
Jiko – 4
‘50's Prime Time Café – 4
Cinderella’s Royal Table (dinner)– 3
Garden Grill – 3
Hollywood Brown Derby – 3
Kona Café – 3
Restaurant Marrakesh – 3
Victoria & Albert’s – 3
Whispering Canyon Café – 3
Yachtsman Steak House – 3

WORST MEAL: :(

‘50's Prime Time Café – 6
Sci-Fi Dine-In – 5
Cap’n Jack’s Restaurant – 4
Yakitori House – 4
Hollywood Brown Derby – 3
San Angel Inn – 3
Tony’s Town Square – 3

Again, I only included those restaurants with three or more comments. Hope I counted correctly!

Best: Yactsman Steakhouse(wonderful service) 50's Prime time was good 2.

Worst: Wolfgang Puck Express
my burger was supposed to be well-done adn it was ice cold in the middle.DH's chicken was cold, very salty and rubbery. Never agian!

Worst - Pizzafari at AK. Cardboard sandwiches which we left untouched in protest!

Best - we've had many wonderful meals around WDW. California Grill is a favourite. Jiko, Flying Fish Cafe, Citricos, Artist Point...but by far and away the best, without question, was V&As. We eventually got around to it in January this year and at long last I know what all the fuss is about!

Hi, Jack! :wave2: :wave2:

Best: ohanas and whispering canyon for dinner(my kids favorite place they call the ketchup hotel meal)

worst: I did not like the crystal palace buffet or the hollywood and vine buffet. I hate when they go all fancy on a simple buffet.

Our Worst: Definitely Chef Mickey's. I know this gets rave reviews. However, we paid a lot of money for this meal, and there just wasn't a large selection of food. I wasn't very impressed with the character interaction at all. My 2 year old LOVES all of the characters, and they hardly interacted with her at all!!! It was just a lot of money for not a great experience.
I think Chef Mickey's is the only place we won't ever eat at again.

Our Favorites: Cinderella's Royal Table Breakfast. It might be expensive, but it's magical, and the food is good. The princesses are wonderful, and they are all in one spot.

Peco's Bill's burger place is a favorite. We love to get the burgers with all of the fixin's. Of all of the places we took my parents, this was their favorite overall. I think because my step-dad looked at the fixin's bar as benig "free" and he didn't see that anywhere else.

The Bakery in MK. We LOVE the ice-cream sandiwhces.

Rainforest Cafe. We just love the Rainforest. We eat there every chance we get. We love it, love it, love it!!!

Best: we had so many great meals, but I think our favorite was dinner at the Rainforest Cafe in DTD. Awesome food and our daughter loved the atmosphere.

Most disappointing/worst: Flame Tree BBQ at AK. I had a terrible customer service experience with a CM and I was not impressed with my sandwhich. It wasn't terrible, but I have definitely had much better. (I know lots of people love Flame Tree, though.)

Best - We have had so Many good experiences and wonderful meals at the World!! But the Favorite to us/Not to be missed would be:
Le Cellier!!
:thewave:

I honestly can't come up with a worst! I think reading the boards here has helped in that respect. If I read over and over how wonderful someplace is, we make a point to try it if we have never been. If I read horrible reviews outweighing good, I avoid it! We have added things like - getting ice cream (at least) at Beaches & Cream to our must do list, because of the reviews on the board. We also make a point of stopping for a hot dog (or two) at Casey's at least once - we used to be in such a hurry to get to the rides that we would walk right past abd get food further in MK.

Wost. Rainforest cafe. Waiter staff takes your order and DISAPPEARS. Over an hour later food shows up. (And they have done this to me more then once, I only eat there under protest!)

Best. Lots of places. Morrocco, LeCellier, Jiko

Best: I used to just love breakfast at Tony's Town Square - good food and there was something nice about watching everyone just as they walked into the MK - sorry they don't serve Breakfast there anymore.

Worst: I've never had a bad meal at WDW - but then again I've never eaten at the Rainforest there. I got enough of them here in Chicago - all gimmick & BAD food.

Best - CG

We haven't really had a "worst" meal yet. Like the previous poster, I read these reviews a lot so we have avoided restaurants that receive lots of negative reviews.

One last tally update for me. We're off to WDW today, so I'll update on 5/15/03 if there are new posts while we're gone. Here it goes:

BEST MEAL: :D

‘Ohana – 13

Le Cellier – 12

California Grill – 10

Artist Point – 6
Boma – 6

‘50's Prime Time Café – 5
Jiko – 5

Cinderella’s Royal Table – 4
Restaurant Marrakesh – 4
Victoria & Albert’s – 4
Whispering Canyon Café – 4
Yachtsman Steak House – 4

Garden Grill – 3
Hollywood Brown Derby – 3
Kona Café – 3
Rainforest Café DTD – 3

WORST MEAL: :(

‘50's Prime Time Café – 6

Sci-Fi Dine-In – 5

Cap’n Jack’s Restaurant – 4
Yakitori House – 4

Hollywood & Vine – 3
Hollywood Brown Derby – 3
San Angel Inn – 3
Tony’s Town Square – 3

I have made a few observations about these results so far. After only 69 posts, I know my "Practical Logic" professor in college would definitely call these "Hasty Generalizations," but they are really just interesting observations.
Have fun!

1. MGM has four of the top eight "worst meal" restaurants.

2. Eight of the top eleven best restaurants are at the resorts.

3. AK restaurants must be just average -- or nobody eats at them. No Animal Kingdom restaurants have more than two votes in either category.

4. ‘50s Prime Time – you love it or you hate it; the only restaurant to appear within the top 10 on both lists.

5. No counter service restaurant has more than one vote for the best meal.

6. Boma is the only buffet to get more than one vote for best (it got 6 votes). However, no buffets got more than 2 votes for worst.

7. Characters make the meal better -- Chef Mickey’s & Crystal Palace are the only character meals to get more than one vote for worst (they both got only 2 votes).

8. But characters don't make the meal THAT much better. Liberty Tree Tavern was the only character meal with more than one vote for best (it had only 2). CRT got 4 votes for best, but only one was the Princess Breakfast, while the others were dinner.

9. The resort with the highest total number of best votes is Polynesian (16), followed by Animal Kingdom Lodge (11), and then Wilderness Lodge and (10).

That's all for now. See you in three weeks!

Great thread, thanks for all the work, and have a terrific time on vacation! :sunny:

Worst--Le Cellier
TWICE!
This is the only restaurant ANYWHERE that I want to erase from my memory.
It was THAT bad. Twice.

BEST -- Jiko!
The filet on macaroni and cheese, the pistachio creme brulee with chocolate bottom, and fantastic service from Nasser!
Magical!

So far, best meal 50's Prime Time, "Cousin" Tim was hilarious, and the food was wonderful, and I even got a birthday cupcake that another "guest" delivered to me!!

Worst? Probably the Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe, WAY too sweet, even without the syrup!! Also, we asked the server to fill our refillable mugs with water, and the water was so bad, we ended up dumping it out in the pond under the walkway to the monorail, YUK!!!

Semi bad was the breakfast at Tony's (while Crystal Palace was refurbished), the cinamon rolls were YUMMMMMY, but the eggs left a lot to be desired.

Jules

I totally agree about the Tonga Toast!
I had read so much about it on this board and we made a special trip to Kona Cafe so I could try it.
I couldn't even eat it, it's just too sweet for me.
We love good, rich coffee and really weren't impressed with the coffee there either.
So many people LOVE the Tonga Toast and the coffee there, but I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon.
To each his own! ;)

:sunny:

Worst meal at WDW? Sci-Fi Dine-In at MGM. Yes, the movie clips are fun - but not so much the second time around. (Were we there too long?) There's too much going on to enjoy a meal there and - as I rememember - the food was ordinary at best. We went with my parents and they were not impressed! The smart money is on showing up for dessert only, so you get to see the place without using so much time and money for a meal.

Best meal? Can I cheat and say the meal we enjoyed the most on Disney property was not at WDW, but at the Blue Lagoon Restaurant in Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland, Paris. I had swordfish - in keeping with the theme! Best of all, riders in the boats call out "Bon Appetit!" to the diners, who call back "Bon Voyage!" to the diners!
Aah, Paris! pirate:

I'm starving thinking of all these yummy places at WDW::yes::

Our favorites:

Buffet: Bomas

Child-Friendly & Tasty Eats: O'Hana and Whispering Canyon

Counter-Service: Tusker House and Pecos Bill

No real worse place for us! However, we all felt woozy after Garden Grille; I think we never adjusted to the moving.:(

BEST--

WORST
Narcoosee's -- I ate there pregnant with morning sickness and my hubby didn't like his dinner which they kindly exchanged for another meal. He is a picky eater and I am very big on if it makes me sick (not their fault though)--I never go back. Of course I don't drink hot chocolate anymore for the same reason

In general--I give the MGM restaurants a chance--but don't really like any of them

Counter-service--we went to the Polynesian to a counter service on the ground floor looking for quicky polynesian food and got a quite bland chicken sandwich (the menu changed but not the board). They let me give it back and refunded me

BEST
Counter service meal--the Taco Salads in Adventureland (don't recall the restaurant).

Sit-down--enjoyed CRT when it was King Stefan's and really enjoyed that meal

Buffet--Crystal Palace breakfast (didn't fancy the lunch/dinner) with Pooh

All around--our best dining expereince was V&A--we got the wine pairing--but if we ever are fortunate to dine there again it will be without the wine pairing. FUNNY--it was a surprise by hubby and when we got there I thought we were dining in the restaurant next to it and looked at the menu for V&A out of curiousity and said "glad we aren't eating here tonight" But enjoyed the food (except main course--no chicken and I didn't know about a veg menu).

Best: Le Cellier and Beaches N Cream - both must do's on our trips!

Worst: Boatwrights's at POR (waitress was RUDE). DH wasn't impressed with the restaurant in Germany, but I loved it.

Worst - Definitely Mama Melrose - appalling service, sub standard food, yet a pretty restaurant - no wait - I wonder why???

Also Boatwrights - food at dinner OK but we must have had the same server as Jelebeenee! We still plan to give it another chance, probably breakfast this time as we'll be staying at POFQ.

Best - Difficult to choose - but would have to go for Cape May (dinner)
