What is so great about TSMM? Is it worth it?

Background - We are Disney veterans from the past. We took our kids every year while they were growing up. We always had a plan and never waited in lines (15 min max). Then when Fastpass Legacy came along, we enjoyed riding our favorite rides multiple times in a day. All of our trips were magical. Now the kids are grown and DH and I will be going alone. Our original plan was to be little more laid back. A little planning, but no major plans. Then I heard of Fastpass plus. :sad2: I have always been a planner, but I can't believe I am scheduling rides 60 days in advance.

Sorry, back to my question. We have not been to DW since TSMM opened. I see that it is popular. Not sure why. What is your opinion?
Should we use our FP on TSMM and do RcR(DH's favorite ride) at RD? We had not planned to do RD at DHS, but I don't see any other way to do both rides and avoid the lines. Is it worth it?

I personally use my FP for Toy Story and go in the single rider line for RnR, but I don't care who I sit next to on the coaster.

Use your FP+ on TSMM. The line will be insane all day long and you will be able to do any of the other tier one attractions early on in the day without as much wait as you will have to endure for TSMM.

The ride is really a cool one (especially if you are a fan of Toy Story.) It's interactive and unique and even the queue line is fun to see. The ride can be a bit addictive if you're competitive, but it can make you a bit quesy to do multiple times in a day (at least that's the case with me. It jerks you around quite a bit and couple that with the 3-D effects and yeah...) But it's a great ride though for all ages and something you should definitely do at least once. :)

That is our plan. I've never been on Toy Story Mania either, but I figure we have to try it and fast pass seems to be the best bet for getting on it. (we are just two adults also)

We love TSM! It is a family ride that all ages can play together. We see who can beat each other's score and they person who wins gets to decide what they want to do next. If you go to rd, I would do TS first, then head over to RnRc. I would def Fp it for later. If you didn't like it, maybe you could change your Fp to RnRc. The other good thing about RnRc is the single line ;) If you have never tried it before, I would. Then you can see what all the fuss is about.

It is popular because it is a cool ride. It is a shooting type game which is much easier than Buzz Lightyear. Would I wait 90 min or more. No. Part of the popularity comes from the fact that there are few rides at DHS to begin with. And those other rides have height requirements.

Thanks for all the feedback. Fastpass for TSMM it is!

Didn't realize RcR had a single rider line. Not sure they had that option years ago. Sounds like a plan!

TSM is in my opinion crazy as it's the only ride at HS for all ages.

I would try ot once just to experience. Compare it a bit to buzz lightyear but in 4D. I ride it once per trip that is enough. If it had 10 min wait I'd do it again. For me not worth a long wait the second time. Or for the first time even a 60 minute.

Now my kids 8 and 7 feel the opposite.

We actually prefer the Buzz Lightyear ride at MK over TSM. It is a very similar ride except TSM you're shooting at screens rather than physical targets.

If you want to ride, I would use FP+ at TSM as the lines just get so long.

We just got back and the line for Toy Story was 100-150 minutes or more every day! Def use a FP

I, for one, don't get the whole craze surrounding TSMM. Yeah, it's fun, but not fun enough for us to ride multiple times and wait 2 hours to do again. We would much rather be riding ToT! However, that said, I would definitely either use your FP+ or plan to go there right at RD, or else you'll be standing in a long line.

I did RD to get on TSMM and that worked out for me. The FP+ were gone within 30 min of park opening. I figured the only way I would see it was to do RD. I was there last week staying off park so could not pre- book

TSM is the most popular ride there, Lines will for sure be long most all day. Best bet is get there at rope drop head right over there..fast..LOL and line will be 20-30 min or less right away..If ya walk fast 15. Then save a FP for later in the day..You will want a second trip on TSM...:drive:

As an adult I don't really get the love for it...I'd much rather do RnRC. I agree with others, its popularity is due to the fact that there just isn't much for littler kids to do at HS. I wouldn't intentionally skip it though, just have no desire to dash there at rope drop (at least if I was there without my kids). Unfortunately it's a hit for my kids so if we are there at rope drop we will likely make the dash so they can ride it twice (we have a FP+ for it as well). But if we don't feel like making rope drop that day then I won't worry about it as we have a FP+ for later.

That is one of my problems with TSMM. Yes it is fun but it's not really a "ride" per se. You could just as well have people walk from screen to screen. Or put them all on a moving sidewalk type of thing.

What I like about Buzz is that it feels like a regular dark ride and I like to treat it as such. I never play the game as the guns make it too difficult to see what you are aiming at. If they ever refurb the ride, they should really adopt Disneyland's version of the ride, where you can pull the guns out of holsters and it's much easier to aim.

yeah I don't get all the hype about it. I mean it was fun but it is sooo not worth the long wait. If it is something you are interested in doing either get a FP for it or skip it.

I like Toy Story Mania...but it's not my favorite thing at the Studios. I'd much rather ride Rock n Rollercoaster, Star Tours, or Tower of Terror... I think it's ridiculously overrated (especially being that I can play Toy Story Mania on my Wii whenever I want...and there is more than one game, unlike TSM in the Studios which never changes)...

That said, I always use FP+ for Toy Story Mania, because otherwise I would never get to ride it. Even though I think it's waaaaaay overrated, I still enjoy it and have to include it in my day.

Ditto!! We think it's fun but not THAT fun. lol. And really to my family it's way to similiar to the Buzz ride to wait in line for 60+ minutes.

We will definitely be getting a FP+ for TSM. We've been to WDW THREE TIMES since the ride opened and haven't been able to ride it or even get a FP- before they were gone (we haven't ever done Rope Drop + run for it, not really our style). So for us, the FP+ will most definitely be worth it.
