I know the feeling. I'm a cheapo too. Right now we are booked at POP. We often entertain the thought of staying at a mod (POR or POFQ), but so far can't justify the cost, especially since we won't spend that much time at the resort anyway. I too would LOVE to stay at AKL, but right now it's just not feasible. I may go visit it though on a day when we're not doing too much.

Like other PPs have said, it's normal to feel that way. Just crunch the numbers and see what you can reasonably do.

After I typed that, I kind of figured that's what it was and I can't say that I blame him (after you make your "own" memories, you can go back there and you'll never even think about those days).

That is a lot to swallow--and I don't blame you.

Just saw on Sophia's FB that they are on the monorail on way to CP for breakfast (she said the monorail was shaking really bad and she was scared). Three more days for us....

Don't worry! Just wait and see! I understand why he would want to skip out on AKL, and if you're going to downgrade to save money, I definitely would just go all the way down to a value...but that's just me. And you know we just love POP, but we're cheapos to begin with. No matter what, you'll still have lots of great stuff (park hoppers, deluxe dining). And if you stay at Pop, I know of some wild people who would be willing to keep you company by the pool!

He doesn't wanna skip AKl, I do lol he's all for it pop it is btw, if we do downgrade, and now I have an actual reason! although my dd begged for CBR is we downgrade..doh.

What about a split stay? I SO wish I could come down for a few days, stay with K&J so you & Bob could have a few nights to yourselves.

you get screwed with park tix by doing the split stay and I would LOVe to have you down, so I could have your babies for a couple nights!

So the newly converted budgeteer in me says this...

Forget what you have planned. Talk about it and decide what you do want to spend. Talk about what you can reasonably put away without incurring debt, or sacrificing the important things you need to live (I'm all about giving up going out to eat during the year if it means I can live it up at Disney, but you can't give up paying your electric bill). So whatever that number is has to be it. Then work it back from there. Decide what you will give up to hit that number. A split stay, the regular dining plan, a value, a mod, less park days, way less souvies. There are a million combination of things you can do to get your budget and still have a fantastic trip. But whatever that number is--you have to stick to it.

I know the feeling. I always go through the debate about whether it is too much money or not, if we are making the right decisions, etc. It will all turn out fine. I'm sure even if you choose to go value, you will be have a blast.

See, we are going longer this trip, so i do feel comfy in the fact that we would actually get to enjoy the resort more than usual..still not 100% sure I feel that comfy though lol Ugh, I reallly wanna stay here.. my mind is so confused. Bob and I spoke about it, and he said, lets see how things look after the Holidays! My thought was, my 30th bday, valentines day, and our 1 year anniversary are all a week apart, skip all the hapy annibirthintines ay stuff and lets ut that towards AKL

You won't get screwed on tickets with a split stay. Just buy all your park tickets on one reservation (you can have a different # of tickets than nights staying), then book room-only on another reservation. That's what we did last year. We stayed at Pop first for 6 nights and got 8 days worth of tickets and used the "buy 5 get 2 free" deal. Then we switched to a room-only reservation at CBR and used the 30% off deal...no need to buy new tickets. As long as your days don't go over 14 days, you don't have to buy new tickets for switching resorts. We had two sets of cards, but they told us at CBR that they could switch our park tickets to our new room keys if we wanted, but we just didn't bother.

I think you should do whatever stresses you out the least. You can also wait and see what happens throughout the year and how your payments on the vaca are coming along. You can always change last minute too, like my brother did.

My brother just stayed at POR and honestly, I've changed my mind about it. Our experienced was terrible when we stayed there but let me tell ya, it's an awesome resort. If you were looking for a moderate, I think you will like this one.

Hmmm, I think you have sometime to figure it out! Can you make payments over time between now and then? Maybe a certain amount each pay period. Then when the taxes come you can put the whole thing in. I know that's what my sister does. When there's a little extra she puts more in!

I get what you are saying, but we are going for the free dining and upgrade to DxDP, you have to have a package in order to get the free dining :/ so no splitting of tix

Hey guys! Sorry it has been so long! Life has been crazy busy! Soccer is back in session, and school is in full swing! I am happy to report, both kids are loving school! Thank you jeebus! I thought full day was going to be too hard for Jack, but he seems to really love it, and do well with it!

Sadly, i do not have much to pre trip report on the Disney front! I did make my first purchase this weekend though! Bob found Disney Princess Halloween cling ons, and said hey, these would be cool for next year So we bought one sheet Some purchase!

In other news, 346 days to go!!

Ya nothing to worry about, my life just got insanely hectic with my old job... soo... I ended up quitting and applying for teachers college in Australia!
So I moved down here three months ago and its going fantastic! Craig is here with me too

So now I'm planning a trip to Tokyo Disney (in november!) and Disneyland (next year July) and back on the boards!
