I interrupt this regularly ( and by regularly, I mean, whenever I find an ounce of motivation) scheduled PTR with a mini TR of Hershey Park!
Some months ago, Kaylas BFF's family invited us t go to Hershey Park with them. I didn't think it would be possible, as hello, we had a HUGE WDW trip planned for September. The mom, my friend Stacey, told me that her whole family was going, and because of this, she was getting a group rate discount! Well, the discount was HUGE, almost half off ticket price! I crunched the numbers, and looked up the hotel they were staying at and immediately called Bob.. he said, cool , do it. Did I mention how much I loves this man?? he is SO go with the flow, lets have a good time!
I called Stacey back and she said cool , I"ll put everything on my credit card.. double awesome... I now had time to pay this thing off!
This also worked out awesome because it was fathers day weekend, and this year I really wanted to do something nice for Bob! I know he is not either of my children's father, but man, he has been more of a dad to these kids than their bios ever have! He is literally the definition of father/daddy! Both kids know this, but Kayla especially after being dumped on her *** by John!
It was settled, we were going there on Saturday, spending the night and coming home late Sunday! So we thought!
My friend Stacey, Kaylas bff's mom and their whole fam were going down Friday and staying until Sunday. Bob and I both had work, so that was a no go. She did say however that Kayla could join them Friday night!!

She was STOKED! Normally I am pretty strict about things like this, but we have gotten so close to her bff's family that i was completely comfy with it.. til she left and I cried cause shes so big now..wahhh!
I didn't really cry.... but man, I thought about it! Her whole life flashed before my very eyes. I instantly realized, (for the millionth time this year) my baby is 10..when, why, how..whaaaaaat? Like shes going to 5th grade, shes going places alone without mommy, she doesn't need me as much as she used, and at times doesn't want me

Time is cruel. So I did what any other self respecting mother would too, I took my youngest, wrapped him up in a blanket all swaddled like and rocked him back and forth, and said, heres my baby , mommys baby. You'll stay little for me, right?
That last part may or may not be true.
Moving on... After she left, I was not feeling well, not because of her, but I just hadn't been feeling great that week. Normally I would have had luggage by the door, lists of things and places to go, the whole nine yards, but tonight I did not. I was working and when Noah went to sleep, I snuck out the suit case and then lost all motivation. He looked all cozy, I wanted to be all cozy! So cozy I made myself, on my couch.
Until Bob came home from work right around 11:45 pm. He asked if I had packed... uhm..nokindasuitcaseisoutbutiwastired. Then he went in the bedroom and organized the mess I had made
I went in after he was done and reorganized what he had done

Then we went to sleep.. I think?
Next morning I was up bright and early, before the alarm even! Which I believe was set for 6 am?? My friend Stacey had purchased the tickets and we were supposed to meet her at the Hershey main gate by 9:45 am for 10 am park opening.
I have never been to Hershey and Google maps said it would take about 2-2.5 hours to get to. The plan was to be on the road by 7 am. Surprisingly we were out the door and on the road by 7:30 am! NOT too bad! i thought for sure we were gonna be leaving super late! I was proud of myself, but even more proud of Bob! I think he will handle Disney World just fine.... at least the first week
The ride there was uneventful, and I didn't take pics of anything really :/ Believe it or not, we did not see any signs for Hershey Park on the pa highway... like, not even when we got off the exit. Once off the exit we saw a small one. Maybe this is not shocking but I thought there would be signs all over the place trying to pimp it out.
*Side note- We stopped at Wawa (think 7-11 for you non tri-state area people) and got breakfast. I want to say with 3 breakfast items, 2 coffees and 3 drinks, it came to $17.00?? Just adding this in for those of you considering going!
Once we were off the exit we found Hershey pretty easily! parking was pretty darn simple too, but it reminded me for Disney, just how long the stupid things take! Parking, getting out, sunblocking, getting all the bags, walking to tram. All of this took up time. We got to the gate I'd say by 10:20 or so? Not too bad I suppose! But again, good reminder for Disney and how long it will take to drive from place to place, get out walk to, etc....
First pic, on the tram
We got to gate and had just missed Stacey, so we had to wait for her to get back.
She got back, handed us our tickets and then we parted ways accidentally! Then the texting game started, after about 20 mins we finally found Staceys husband who had Kayla! Man was she having a blast but was super happy to see us!
So I'm sure you all remember that I do not fly! I also mostly do not like roller coasters, rides that spin, rides that spin and go a million feet in the air, or things like ski lifts... you get the picture?!?
Well, first thing we walk by is this thing called the "sky view". It is like a ski lift type ride, that just goes around in a circle and you can see the whole park. these things TERRIFY me! I hate that it is on one thick cord. I avoid these at all costs. EVERYONE wanted to go on this damn thing. SO trying to set a good example and not pass my irrational fears to my children, I went on it. I hated it. But, I went on it!
excuse the sweat on my face.. it was hot and I was scared to death... hence that ridiculous look on my face.. Bob always captures me so beautifully....
Kayla and her friends totally loved it! Can I tell you, I was having a heart attack that she was on this thing alone... lame I know.
Surprisingly I made it off this ride alive! OK, obviously that is not surprising, but I have to tell you, it felt like we were on this thing for an eternity!
After that we met up with some more of Stacey's family and bob got to go on his first BIG coaster of the day! As i mentioned, I do not do big coasters.. just wussy ones! Although, I do plan on trying Rockin Rollercoaster!
I think this coaster was called Storm Runner. That thing took off so fast and droppped like woah! Bob said it was awesome and gave 2 huge thumbs up!
So based on pictures and what terrible memory I have, we decided to part ways with Staceys family, although we took her nephew and her friends daughter. Nephew was 8, and the little girl was around 10 or 11. I can't recall if it was at this point or a little bit later, but we decided to go on Trail Blazer, which reminded me of a tamer BTMR! Jack was TERRIFIED and it took a TON or coaxing, but he went on it and LOVED it! There was no line, so we went on time..after time..after time..after time!!Until I couldn't stand the heat anymore and said lets go get our suits on and hit the Boardwalk! Hershey now has a water park, and I an't resist water parks!
So Bob and I, and the 4 kids set off for the Boardwalk. By this point it was almost 2pm... and we were starving.
We changed into our swim attire, and got a locker for all of our stuff. the locker was $15.00

A small one would have been $10.00.. still super pricey!
After this we decided we needed to get some lunch!
We stopped at Nathans hot dog! I have eaten here before at mall food courts and such, so I knew I liked their food somewhat..enough to get us by for lunch anyway!
We had bought two souvenir cups for a group discount rate of $5.00 each before we got to the park, so we knew that first fill would be free, and each after would be $.99. I found this to be a great deal, and used it much more than I thought we would! In Disney I never have bought a drink cup..not sure what I do normally??
Anywho, lunch here was a bit pricey as expected. I have no food porn because we left the camera in the locker due to going on water rides.
I can tell you though, we ordered two, two corn dog meals that included 2 corn dogs, fries and one drink, an order of chicken strips, and a small cheese fries. We also got both mugs refilled. The total came to $45.00! Bob and I split the chicken strips and cheese fries! the 4 kids each split the corn dog meals. It was def enough food, and it was pretty tasty! I am a fan of nathans hot dogs and their fries, and this tasted the same as I remembered.
This price for just lunch with everyone splitting stuff reminded me why I enjoy the free dining so much! I had already spent with cost of 2 cups $55.00 this day! We hadn't even had chocolate or dinner yet at this point!
After lunch we decided to go on the lazy river! this was a faster moving river and super fun! the kids loved it! It started to be not as sunny though, so I was a bit chilly, but totally soaking in all the relaxation! Best thing about this river, you have the option to keep going if you want! No need to get off once you make it to the end! We went around 4 times, and then decided we were going to try the east coast water works part of the Boardwalk!
this thing was awesome! it had water slides, a big dump bucket, just water everywhere!
We decided to get in line in there for the best looking slide out of the bunch, the purple slide!
At this point it was NOT as hot but we were all excited to get on this thing. In the line there are a ton of water buckets, guns, etc.. kids were squirting and dumping water on everyone..which made us even colder. we almost got out of line but decided to stay....
this winded up being a mistake and more drama than I have ever experienced was about to come our way!
Next up- How NOT to act at Hershey Park, a wonderful day gone ugly!
