My fiance and I are going to be visiting Disney World for the very first time on our honeymoon in August. We fully expect that we'll need to take a few breaks from the hustle and bustle of the day. What are your favourite spots for a (relatively) quiet, relaxing break at the WDW parks?

This has become our favorite thing to do at WDW.

Go to EPCOT. My wife loves the fiesta margarita from mexico (actually she likes 2 or 3). We walk to Norway. I get a rignes or 2 or 4. we then sit on a shady bench & eat an open-faced sandwich & share a desert from the Norwegan Bakery....along with a couple more beverages. People watching & relaxation at its finest!

There is a walkway between Tomorrowland and Toon Town at MK that is wonderful. It has benches to sit on and you can sit and relax and watch the train pass every few minutes with happy families waving to you from onboard. Best is, not many people use this walkway and for being in MK, it really is relatively quiet.

There is a walkway to the left as you exit Future World at epcot and head towards Mexico. There are some benches along the way . We spent about an hour there relaxing and having some popcorn while the kids watched the birds on the lake. It was perfect just to relax and soak up the atmosphere.

We like the CoP at MK for a relaxing ride, and don't worry, it's not boring like the HoP, we also like the TTA. Behind the Ye Olde Christmas shoppe, there are lots of shade and benches. I also like the "Story time with Belle" gardens, if you can get there just after a show, there is alot of shade and benches, and it is tucked neatly away, so most people just walk right on by and don't even notice it! At EC, you can find a relaxing spot in just about every country around WS, but in FW our new favorite spot is Ice-Station Cool. It has A/C, plus all the free soda pop you can drink. Plus you get to watch all the peoples reaction to the drinks they don't like! It's always good for a laugh!

Take the raft over to Tom Saywer's Island. Over there are several spots with rocking chairs. Lovely, peaceful area for a break. At AK, take the Discovery Island Trails, where you'll find several peaceful benches where you can sit and rest, listen to the music.

When I am beat and need a relaxing place I hop aboard the TTA (tomorrowland transit authority or wedway peoplemover to us old folks). You can just keep riding this ride without getting off if you want. It's a nice place to rest your feet.

In Animal Kingdom, go to FlameTree BBQ for lunch (or just order a beer in the afternoon), then go to the left of the building and find a nice table to sit at. They are all in the shade, and there are quite a few down by the water, very quiet.

Maybe not as quiet, but so much fun - sit by the exit of Kali River Rapids (before you go over the bridge toward the ride) on a bench behind one of the kiosks, and watch the monkeys. I could do this all day!

In MGM, sit outside of Pizza Planet in the shade near the Miss Piggy fountain.

In Epcot, sit in the gardens of Japan - look at the Koi fish.

I actually like going to the various "shows" to rest. At AK I like the Bird show (is it birds of prey?) and the Pocahantas show - not the most crowded areas, still entertaining, and a great way to sit and relax. Also, the train ride to conservation station is relaxing. You can also do the Tarzan Rocks show.

At MGM I think sitting down to watch Beauty and the Beast is a great thing to do between the lines and rides. I like arriving early and listening to the "opening" act.

MK it definitely would be the TTA - no hurry there!

At Epcot grab a seat in Canada and listen to Off Kilter!!! We love them! In Great Britain head back to the area where the British invasion performs - there is a little maze and if you time it right you get to listen to some great music too!

My tip for a break during your visit to the MK is to leave the park for a little while at mid-day. If you want to do something quick, you can hop on the monorail (resort side) and visit one of the monorail resorts, or just enjoy going around the loop. If you have a little more time, you can walk to the left of the monorail and hop on one of the resort boats. Take a ride around the lake and stop to visit a resort for drinks or lunch. For a longer break, take the boat over to Fort Wilderness. They have a petting zoo and a great spot for a buffet lunch. You will feel like you've travelled back in time and that you're no where near Disney.

I was waiting for someone to post this info.
It is a GREAT way to relax. In the middle of the day, taking the resort boats is MAGICAL. And FtW is indeed a "time-travel" experience! There is a secluded bike trail (rent 'em at the Bike Barn, ask a CM.) You can also rent canoes go for a quiet "paddle." Also strolling the "hiking trail" (a path right behind the store near the boat-dock) makes you feel like you're the only 2 people in the World (Walt's or otherwise.)

AND (just a boat-ride away) don't forget to visit the Wilderness LODGE... its SO comfortable in the atrium lobby we may spend a couple of hours just sitting and BREATHING! (The "geyser" near the lake erupts every hour, on-the-hour. So time your arrival or departure to see it.)

More relaxation and sight-seeing is at the Grand Floridian... what a nice respite!
If you time it right, you can enjoy a "virtuoso in pop-standards" at the piano at ground-level, or the first-rate dance-band might be performing on an upper balcony (early evenings).
(A swing on the gliders out on the white-sand beach at GF at sundown is "OK" too!)
We consider all this a part of the TOTAL WDW experience, and wouldn't miss any of it on any trip.

I like having a break (and a snack!) at Pinocchio's Village Haus in Fantasyland. They have windows that look into It's A Small World.

Since mine hasn't been posted here goes....

Mine is at MK on Main Street. In the back of the Exposition Hall there is a small theater that shows old Mickey cartoons. You can sit in movie theatre style seats in the air conditioning. The lighting isn't bright and it is usally not crowded. It is a great way to rest tired feet! And I admit--I took a nap once!

An added benefit is that characters often come through here. We were here on a rainy day once and had several characters (including Snow White) to ourselves for about 15 minutes.

My favorite spot for a break is a bistro table by the lake at Epcot (across from France) with a glass of french champagne. I love it on a sunny breezy day.

I love the herb/knot garden outside the tea shoppe at the British Pavillion at Epcot as well as the maze area behind the shoppe.

The "hidden" library and lounge (2 places) on the upper floors of the Wilderness Lodge.

On a cold day (yes, we've been with mitten, hats, and coats more than once), it is great to escape with a hot cocoa to the room in back of Casey's at the MK. If it isn't a meal time, there is plenty of room for my kids to relax on the bleachers and watch Disney classic cartoons.

At the GF, if you go out of the elevator to the 2nd floor, to your right is a seating area with doors to a deck. I've never shared this deck that overlooks the pool. I've heard room service will deliver there, too!

At the Tusker House at AK, we love to go outside the restaurant in the back. They have sounds coming from the upstairs of activities going on such as dishes breaking and various things. Again, it is often not crowded and Tusker House is a great restaurant from the cinnamon rolls to the chicken and salmon. It is so refreshing to get a side of grilled veggies rather than fries.::yes::

We love the TTA (Tomorrowland Transit Authority):jumping1:

We always like to sit on this for 20min to a half hour so we can catch a cool breeze, get off our feet, and allow DD to maybe take a little nap. Yep....this is one of our favorites:tongue:

our favorite location is the cool spot by coke. it is to the right of the the epcot fountain and it features free coke varieties from around the world. it is very cool per its' prehistoric/ice age theme.

have a great time.

Another vote for the Tommorowland Transit Authority. I love riding it over and over and just relaxing. It is a long ride and you can relax the whole way.
Have a great trip!
ADP :D

I vote for TTA also.:D

We rode it 12 times in a row while my daughter took a nap. It was hard to stay awake myself.:p
