Share with me, if you will, your favorite counter service restaurants in each park. We're going for 4 days with a 4-year old. The park is only open 10:00 am - 8:00 pm when we're there, so we don't want spend too much time at table service places.

I think we've got the table service stuff figured out anyway, but I want to know about counter service.

DL: Hungry Bear Restaurant is my favorite. There fried chicken sandwich with honey mustard is so good! It pairs nicely with strawberry funnel cake for dessert.:rotfl2:

DCA: It's a tie between Pacific Wharf Cafe for the soups in bread bowls and Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta for the chicken and sundried tomato pasta and the Italian salad.

DL: Hungry Bear for their turkey sandwich and lemon cupcakes(me), Plaza Inn for the fried chicken (DH).

DCA: Lucky Fortune Cookery for the rice bowls.

I was super impressed with Plaza Inn's chicken dinner. It was just as delicious as everyone says, and very big. I was also able to get two servings of mashed potatoes for no extra charge because the green beans had peppers and I'm allergic. That would make that meal very shareable.

Also, I'd stay away from Flo's in California Adventure. I went at prime dinner hour and was shocked to see it pretty much empty. When I got my meal, I understood why. I could barely chew the bread on my Turkey Dip sandwich. The whole meal was underwhelming.

sounds like I better remember Plaza Inn for my next trip! I'm a chicken lover! :thumbsup2

We have a DS5 and DS6 and here are our favorites (where both boys actually eat):

DL:
Jolly Holiday
Pizza Port (pasta, not pizza)
Cord Dog wagon

DCA:
Flo's (although we haven't been since they changed the menu)
Corn Dog Castle
Pacific Wharf (we love all 3 of the places in there, but the kids like the Mexican food place {burritos} and the Pacific Wharf Cafe {sandwiches} the best)

DL: Rancho del Zocalo (chicken mole, carne asada & enchilada platter, and fish tacos are good, and portion sizes are terrific). French Market (I've always liked their red beans & rice)

DCA: Paradise Garden Grill (skewer platters)

DL: Another vote for the Plaza Inn and the fried chicken. :dance3:

DCL: Paradise Garden Grill, love the kebobs with all the different sauces. My fav is Beef with the Chimchurri sauce. They have delicious cucumber salad on the side as well as rice. The kids can eat pizza and pasta at the adjacent place if they don't like that!

I never miss having a chicken dinner at the Plaza Inn!

Two of my favorite counter service items are:

Crispy Chicken Mixed Green Salad at Golden horseshoe. It's very fresh and the chicken is warm and tender. Comes with choice of sauce.

Chicken Sausage in a Pretzel Roll - A 1/4 lb. chicken sausage link topped with sauerkraut. Avail. at The Village Haus.

While both of these are fairly healthy offerings, they are also delicious!

We usually do counter service in the parks.

DL:
Plaza Inn - love the fried chicken dinner and cobb salad, Pizza Port - pasta and Asian chicken salad

DCA:
Pacific Wharf - soup in breadbowls

Pacific Wharf Café - We ask for the soup to be put in a cup instead of the bowl, then munch on the bread throughout the week.

Paradise Garden Grill - I ask them to go easy on the seasoning though. The cucumber salad is yummy!

Rancho del Zocalo - Decent Mexican food with HUGE portions. We can share a meal here.

Jazz Kitchen (walk-up service) - A good, spicy choice in DTD

We were at DLR about one week ago and we were underwhelmed with the offerings at Flo's since we had heard so much positive previously. Breakfast wasn't too bad (waffles eggs and bacon) but we went back for dinner menu and decided to eat elsewhere.
Hungry bear was good at lunch with chili burger and onion rings. Much better than our last meal there several years ago.
We had dinner one nite at Taste Pilots Grill and the food was good and good sized portions

The thing to remember is that although counter service food is good :thumbsup2(for us the exceptions to this rule is Flo's and Golden Horseshoe) it is by no means 5 star food. It is better than regular fast food chains like Mc D's or BUrger King though...imo.

Our top 2 family faves are:
In DL:
-Bengal BBQ (hard to find seating though)
-HUngry Bear

In DCA:
Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta
Corn Dog Wagon

Have a magical time!

My favourites

DL - Bengal BBQ

DCA - Paradise Garden Grill

There's something about meat on a stick lol.

Man, I'm kinda bummed reading about the new Flo's menu. We ate there twice last time, it was so good. Wonder why they changed?

Bengal BBQ is a great place if you don't have little ones. They won't like the flavors, and if they do, it'll be all over their clothes in no time. But it sounds like I'll need to try out the Plaza. I love fried chicken if it's done right.

Also, I'd stay away from Flo's in California Adventure. I went at prime dinner hour and was shocked to see it pretty much empty. When I got my meal, I understood why. I could barely chew the bread on my Turkey Dip sandwich. The whole meal was underwhelming.

That's a bummer to hear. :scared: It was one that was on our list to try.

One of my favorites is French Market. It does get the occasional shout-out on these boards, but it doesn't seem to be as popular as Plaza Inn or Hungry Bear on here.

There are a nice array of choices at French Market, and I can always find something I like. I also like the setting and the fact that there is live music for diners several times a day.

the plaza inn chicken might someday bring me to tears from all the deliciousness, no joke!
