DH called to tell me to eat without him because he was going to be pretty late tonight. I almost had leftovers and then remembered the frozen shrimp I tucked away in the freezer. DH has issues with shellfish so whenever he's gone, that's what I make myself for dinner. I stir fried some with onions, garlic, and mushrooms and had it with whole wheat pasta and freshly grated parmesan and romano cheeses. And it was FABULOUS.

When I was married to my ex, if he was gone at dinner time I'd make salmon patties because he hated the smell of them cooking.

So, do you have something you only cook or eat when your SO and/or your kids are out of the house? DD would have been all over the shrimp stir fry but she's away at college. ;)

Either a bowl of cereal (if I want something cold) or popcorn (if I want something hot).

And yippee-ky-ay!!! :cool1: Nobody else to cater to for the meal!!! Wooo-hooo!!!

Chinese takeout. DH hates it, so if he's away, it's ON!!!

DH is the cook here so whatever I can find in the cabinet with directions on the box ! Or if I'm lucky leftovers.
Back in my younger, days before high colesterol it was SPAM. Yes SPAM !
Sliced thin and fried crisp, he's such a good cook I didn't want him to know I'd eat SPAM

Now that my son is older I cook the same kinds of things when my husband is gone as I do when he's here. But I used to occasionally just have butterscotch pudding for dinner when he was on travel. I'm the only one who likes it so I never really cook it unless I'm alone.

That's funny, I thought I was the only one who does this. When my DH is away on business I always buy Purdue Wingettes and make them with the Barbecue Glaze Shake n' Bake. Its so yummy but DH can't stand it, more for me

Today, I had a can of Chef Boyardee Ravioli. Everything makes me nauseous, and I can't stomach veggies, but they "claim" to have a full serving, so I justified eating that garbage ;)

Usually, I would just have a bowl of cereal but this week, I had liver and onions. I haven't had it in years. It was absolutely divine. I found a new recipe and I've never loved it this much.

I have been eating a frozen dinner (mosly Lean Cuisine) or turkey burger or flounder...definitely something I like that no one else does!

Another fan of L and O! People think we're crazy-but I love it.I use the cold leftovers and put them in the food processor and spread it on bagels.Yum!!!

Post the recipe please.

If dh is going to be real late, i will have a bowl of cereal.

Liver and onions. My wife, kids and cat hate it. I do get it when we eat out, which horrifies my wife. She was even more horrified to discover that at the family restaurant we go to, their best selling entree is.....Liver and Onions....as the waiter called it, the ultimate comfort food, but one that few actually cook at home.

Tacos!

Hmmmm. Tough one.

If I'm being good, tuna noodle casserole...the really bad kind with Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup...so disgusting but sooooo good.

If I'm being bad...it's straight to the cake. Chocolate, of course.
