Your experiences of Disneyland in the rain

We were recently there in the rain and it was a relatively fun time but do be aware that if you are planning your day using fast passes the outdoor fast pass machines are not operational. One of the cast members said it was because they can shock people...Regardless during our 24 hours of rain we still rode the Matterhorn, the Jungle Cruise, Casey Juniors Train, Winnie the Pooh, IASW and Autopia during the rain although Autopia was shut down a bit later.

Actually one of my favorite memories of that trip is my youngest getting up the courage to ride the Matterhorn during the worst of the downpour late at night although we were all soaked by the end since we sat in the sleds waiting to go for a good chunk of time while they loaded someone with a priority boarding. WET BUT TOTALLY WORTH IT as my youngest had a great time and wouldn't have done it if the line hadn't have been so short since she would have had more time to "chicken out"

You really just have to make the most of it and be flexible!

I would definitely bring rain gear and umbrellas because navigating around the park is hard to do without being in the rain quite a bit. Main Street is the exception because you can just about travel the length of it inside the various stores.

I'm curious- what are peoples feelings on umbrellas? too much of a hazard?

I *am* tall, so I can usually get a bit above the crowd, and that way my shoes would be slightly more protected! heh

We saw a fairly frequent use of umbrellas. Certainly they were used when waiting at park gates as there is no protection from the rain at all in that area. Less wise when we were in the parks as people would move in and out of sheltered areas or inside. Of course crowds were pretty thin so the umbrellas did not cause the same issues they would cause had it been more crowded.
