well, (sorry do not want to hijack a thread) I really have no clue. I know that there are 4 stages. It was from a mole on her chest that got worse the last months of pregnancy. They had to go into the lymph nodes. It just started to spread to there. Not many thou. She is having a PET scan on the 21st to see if it spread anywhere else. If not, (and please pray it has not) then they will decide on treatment...ie: chemo, radiation etc.:sad1:

Sorry to hijack, but wanted to give your daughter my best wishes. My Mom was diagnosed about 2 years ago with stage 3 melanoma and after surgery and interferon chemo(first large round done at the hospital and then a shortened round at home) she is cancer free! It wasn't an easy fight, but it can be done! Hang in there!

you know, this story line for me is just bad, timing and everything. My 25 yo daughter diagnosed at 8 months pregnant with my grandson, with stage 2 melanoma, which was back the last week of May. She gave birth July 5th and had surgery on July 17th, it had spread, making it stage 3. So this story line timing just plan sucked! I have not been able to get thru a show!!

I'm so sorry about your daughter, but hopefully all will be well. I found the lump in my breast and was between Stage 2 and 3 and it had spread to my sentinel node. Treatment has been pretty rough, but I'm doing so much better now. There is always hope and you can never let go of it!

Congrats on your grandson! :lovestruc :wizard:

The story with Lily has been hard to watch at times. I've shed a lot of tears, been brought some memories I didn't necessarily want to have, and I'm scared of where they will go with it. But so far, I think they've done a very good job, just speaking as a patient.

I can only imagine what it is like watching that. I am happy that you are doing much better now. I will keep you in my prayers that you stay Cancer free for ever and ever. May you have a great blessed very long life.

ok - i think the kevin ryder story line is going to far.

deacon and ryder are setting kevin up by having ryder say he was abused (haven't said sexually yet but i have a feeling that's where it's going)

people are really abused and i'm getting the feeling that they are using it as a story line like sleeping with everyone in the town.

does anyone else think it's going to far?

Hi Kurby! …No, I don’t think it’s going too far. Soaps have historically (recent history at least) used social dysfunctions or social issues in their storylines in order to bring awareness to many problems. Like a lot of other TV shows TPTB (the powers that be) in Soapland feel a social responsibility to educate their audiences as well as entertain them. At times, at the end of an episode, they may have a cast member announce phone numbers for treatment facilities or support groups. That way, anyone in the listening audience who may need to address that problem, has some information. Sometimes their timing is way off, but sometimes it’s just governed by the passion of a cast member. For instance, I know Victoria Rowell had a lot to do with the foster child storyline that brought Devon to the show. I think they did a good job of showing that it’s not easy but with patience and determination (and a whole lotta other strengths) it can be/will be a successful experience!!

I know it’s difficult to watch the Kevin/Tom/closet scenes, but that’s the point. Abuse isn’t pretty and maybe that’s the impetus that we need to get involved and do something to help. The next time one of us sees some kid act out, we’ll think twice, not rush to judgment about why (“Kids today, huh!"). The next time we believe someone is being abused, we’ll have a better idea of the kinds of things that may be going on…and take steps to help!

Funny, it seems like more people are comfortable with Lily’s cancer/dying/chemo/shaved head scenes than Kevin’s abuse scenes. It makes me wonder if they’ve actually seen someone have a need to shave because of chemo….’cause a cancer patient’s need to shave usually comes with a whole lot of other “not pretties” (like vomiting, constant skin irritation, possibly coughing uncontrollably, etc.)

Sorry guys, I ddnt mean to run on. I'm just really passionate about the need for all of us to be aware! We each have a cross to bear. It’s important that we know that while others have different crosses they can be equally as difficult. We shd try to be tolerant of them. (not that that’s an issue with you guys---y’all are really great!! really empathetic...but just in general). OK OK…..I’m done…I’m done….:grouphug:

WAIT!! I just read NatashaDisney’s post….Just wanted to echo the same sentiments about your dtr/grandson. Stay strong! They both need you!
...and SkyGirl!! Way to go, continue kickin’ butt!!
:love:My prayers are with you both!!!

thanks so much everyone for sharing! We will know more on friday I guess after her PET scan. How did you do with the Interferon? Hey my daughter lives in Texas also. I am in the Northeast...makes it so much worse! I cannot see the baby or be there for her. and Nickimouse, is there anything I can help with or send my DD that would help out with what she is facing?
I wish I can be there. But she is like me, when I had cancer...I wanted no one around. So I am trying to keep busy, her hubby is taking care of things. I am in school (nuclear med) and was just hired by the Disney store. trying to keep busy to keep me from crying.

and wig or not, it is going to be a tough call watching Lily have to shave her head. Is that happening today?

That's not what I'm talking about. I think you missunderstood my post

I'm all for bringing up revelant storylines. Cancer aids rape murders and if even like to see more like teen pregnance trendrinking college drinking teen sex even kidnapping internet stalking predators etc.

What I don't like us the stupid silver chipmonk and bringing someone lying about being abused to set up Kevin and even if he was abused he's using it to get away with murder to which Michael will get him off

What I don't like us the Ashley storyline and Adam doing what he is and no one knows. Its gone on long enough

•It's the anniversary of John's death, when Jack tries to get through to Ashley she accuses him of trying to manipulate her. Left with no other option, Jack petitions the court to have Ashley committed!
•Amber continues her stupidity while Kevin confides in Daniel about Ryder. Daniel doesn't buy Ryder's story but Kevin continues to be a sucker!
•Victoria sees the pictures of Colleen and JT kissing, being the hypocrite she is sets off to confront Colleen
•Paul continues his search for Mary Jane, she passes by him in disguise. Finally a lightbulb goes off in his head, Mary Jane could be Patty

Next - Colleen tells Victoria she wants JT; Mary Jane continues to scheme

Sharon faces very extreme consequences. Machinations from those around her will turn her into a very different character, someone much stronger. When the truth is revealed about why she's made the decisions she has made, she will be seen in an entirely different light. It will cost her emotionally and physically, and her love interests will be altered dramatically -- perhaps a new one or an old/new one.

- Mary Jane continues to unravel and she becomes more and more dangerous as we head into the fall. Her actions will escalate and it all leads back to the epic feud and rivalry between Jack Abbott and Victor Newman.

- Gloria and Jeff outdo themselves as they find a new way to win their fortune back. They will be involved in a multitude of stories as they get swept up in a convergence of events. Numerous stories will interconnect.

- The viewers will see Adam struggle with his conscience as he tries to juggle his dark side and his light side. He takes these terrible actions, but he's not a complete sociopath and what he's done will begin to bother him. Internal strife. He is out to hurt Victor as much as possible, but at the same time he craves his approval and yearns for his love.

- Chloe uses Chance to make Billy jealous. However, she soon realizes that her plan isn't working... because she actually begins to fall for Chance.

Ashley Committed?

This week, Victor tells Ashley that Jack wants to have her committed, so she is forced to undergo a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation. "She feels very betrayed by her brother," says Eileen Davidson. "In her mind, Ashley thinks Jack is just trying to get back at Victor and this is all part of their ongoing feud. She thinks she's just a pawn."

Victor promises to stop Jack, but Ashley takes the bull by the horns and summons Jack to the Newman ranch. "When he gets there, she wants him to make sure that the psychiatrist does not come," explains Davidson. "She tries to appeal to him by saying, 'You can't do this to me, it's embarrassing.' She tells him how upset the rest of the family would be if they found out and he tells her that they agree with him. She's really devastated by this and her reaction only confirms for him that he's doing the right thing."

After Jack takes off, Ashley frets and turns to Adam for support. "There's kind of like the Patty Hearst syndrome going on between them," notes Davidson. "Where you're kidnapped by somebody and you start to see things through their eyes. That's what's happening with Adam, so Ashley is clinging to him. Ashley is feeling like an outsider and Adam is an outsider, so Ashley identifies with him."

Adam tells Ashley he will help her convince the doctor that she's sane. "Adam basically coaches her on what to say and how to say it," says Davidson. "He's the only person she trusts now."

Jack and Dr. Jamison arrive for the evaluation and Jack is annoyed when he and Victor are told to stay downstairs while he speaks with Ashly. In the master bedroom, Ashley's session begins. "When the doctor asks about seeing Sabrina, Ashley assures that she doesn't believe in ghosts," Davidson explains. "Ashley deflects the questions, but under the surface she's really struggling to keep it together."

When the session is over, Dr. Jamison goes back downstairs to share her diagnosis. Jack is stunned when she announces that Ashley is simply suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. However, she doesn't require in-patient treatment. Jack is certain that Victor paid the doctor off and rushes out of the room.

Meanwhile, Ashley is incredibly grateful for Adam's help. "Now she feels close to him," points out Davidson. "She doesn't want to let him go. She asks him to lay down with her until she falls asleep and he's a really reluctant at first. She nestles into his chest and it's very creepy."

Holy War!

Last week, Mary Jane checked back into the GCAC with blond hair. As J.T. waited, Paul followed her upstairs to her suite and was shocked to learn that she really was Mary Jane. When he tried to call the police, Mary Jane blurted out that she's really his little sister. Uh-oh!

When Paul doesn't return, J.T. becomes concerned and traces his steps to the hotel room and is able to gain entry. Inside, the room is empty, but there are obvious signs of a struggle, so J.T. calls the police to tell them that Paul has gone missing.

Meanwhile, Mary Jane forces Paul to drive at knifepoint and the two of them begin to bicker. "As Paul pries and pries, she becomes so frustrated to the point that she screams at him," Stacy Haiduk explains. "He stops the car and that's when she accidentally cuts him with the knife."

As Paul bleeds, an emotional Mary Jane is relieved to learn that the cut is only superficial and she gives her brother the knife. "There's some family bonding there," Haiduk smiles. "Then they hear the police sirens, so he has to make a quick decision. She's afraid that he's going to turn her in. He doesn't say anything and the next moment, you see them in a church. This is also the church where Todd learned she was Patty, so it's like coming full circle."

Are they there to pray? "They come from a religious family, so he wants to take her to a place where he thinks she'll feel safe," notes Doug Davidson. "He calls his brother and Todd gives him the name of a priest at St. Jude's Church who Todd is friends with. Paul wants to take her to a place where he can keep her from getting hurt."

Across town, J.T. tells Heather that Paul has gone missing and she begins to fear for her father's safety. "Heather's shocked about everything that's happening with Mary Jane and her father," says Vail Bloom. "She isn't sure what to do."

Heather's fears get even worse when J.T. gets a call reporting that Paul's car was located with blood inside. Meanwhile, Paul questions his sister to find out why she came back to Genoa City. "He wants to know how she came to town and ended up doing all this stuff," says Haiduk. "She finally just tells him that she wants Jack back and he's shocked."

"She goes from being Mary Jane to more like Patty, but it's like she's stuck in the past. She kind of goes back 20 - 25 years in her mind and her big brother is there to protect her. When she starts talking about Jack, he realizes how far gone she is. His mind is swimming because it's a lot to take in," explains Davidson.

Patty lets Paul calls J.T., but only if he agrees to leave the police out of it. However, when Paul gets ahold of J.T., he's already with Heather and Chance, who are demanding to know Paul's whereabouts. When J.T. shows up at the church, Paul isn't happy to see that he's brought them along. "Paul is upset that all these people are there because he's afraid it's just going to make everything worse," sets up Haiduk.

Paul explains to Heather and J.T. that Mary Jane is his sister, Patty. "They're stunned, but Heather understands what Paul's going through," says Davidson. "Paul asks Heather to keep Mary Jane's identity quiet. He then explains that Patty needs to get serious psychiatric help instead of jail time."

Heather leaves the church and immediately tells Chance who Mary Jane really is. "Heather is worried about Paul's judgment," observes Davidson. "She knows he's not trying to make trouble and he's in a devastating position. But she's trying to work with the police to come to a peaceful resolution."

J.T. pops up at the Newman ranch and lays into Victor about his connection to Patty. Victor denies everything and tosses J.T. out of the house.

Meanwhile, Gloria and Jeffrey have a very provocative photo of Victor and Mary Jane together, so the two of them barge into his house and demand a hefty payment or else they'll hand the picture over to the media. Victor growls, "How dare you come here!" He picks up the phone to call the police and tells Gloria and Jeffrey that he's having them arrested. Scared, the two of them scurry out as Victor successfully calls their bluff.

Later, Victor calls the Bardwells with a new offer: Bring him Mary Jane! "I don't know why Victor thinks Boris and Natasha can find Mary Jane when the police couldn't," sighs Chapman. "I'm sure Victor will make them the fall guys if it doesn't work out."

When the Bardwells learn that Mary Jane is at the church, they come up with a clever way to get inside. "It's outrageous," teases Chapman. "But so is Gloria!"

Back at the standoff, Chance is given permission to enter St. Jude's, but Heather stops him until she hears from her boss. Paul announces that Patty refuses to surrender and the police will have to violate sanctuary to come in. The DA, Owen, arrives and orders Heather to convince Paul to turn his sister in. Instead, Paul calls the media and the church is immediately swarmed with reporters. On live television, Paul explains that Mary Jane is suffering from a severe mental illness and she needs help, but he does not mention that she's his sister.

Meanwhile, Jack is stunned when he sees Paul on TV. "Jack hears Paul, who has been out to nail this woman, suddenly defending her on camera and saying that she has had a difficult time," explains Peter Bergman. "Jack can't believe his ears and realizes that there's a lot more to this story."

Things get even more interesting with Mary Jane phones Jack. "This whole situation has her freaked out," says Haiduk. "She calls Jack without really thinking of the consequences." Mary Jane then tells Jack that she's pregnant! "That throws Jack for an absolute loop," chuckles Bergman. "He heads over to the church right away to find out what's really going on."

At the church, Paul pleads with Owen to put Mary Jane under house arrest with an ankle monitor. "He wants the same deal for Patty that Victor got for Adam," says Davidson. "Paul then warns that if he doesn't get the deal, he'll let everyone know there's two kinds of justice in Genoa City: one for the rich and powerful, and one for everyone else."

It's about time Nick finds about Faith. Of course, that will be right before Crazy Ashley or Sadistic Adam steals the baby. (No spoiler, pure speculation:hippie:)

I hope Ashley realizes she really isn't pregnant before it would be time for her to give birth. Or maybe Adam will grow a conscience and stop this madness. (Or maybe not.)

What I can't understand is if she is no longer carrying a baby why the baby bump? Why is she feeling the baby move...why, why, why...I'm ready to get this story behind us.

You know, even Victor is going to have to start wondering. He hasn't been able to feel the baby move yet. I'm ready for things to move with this as well.

The previews for tomorrow look good. I am looking forward to the Victoria (aka: hypocrite) and Colleen interaction.

Didn't Victor "feel" the baby move a couple of weeks ago? The best scenario? Ashley was carrying twins and is still carrying a baby. The ultrasound was faked after her miscarriage, so that's more plausible than the current storyline. IMO

(I have no idea how ":hippie:" appeared in my last post) LOL:hippie:

•Victor seeks Michael's advice after Jack wants to have Ashley committed. Michael tells Victor that he can't stop Ashley from being checked out by a psychiatrist.
•Ashley is complaining to Adam who assures her that he won't let her be committed
•Noah is telling Nick about his visit with Sharon and wants to know why Nick has yet to visit her. Nick tells Noah that it is best that they keep their distance from each other
•Phyllis visits Sharon and warns her upfront about reporters who earlier bugged Nick and Phyllis and questioned Sharon being in the psych ward. Phyllis leaves but later returns being the curious person she is, wants to know how come Jack has never come to see Sharon

Next - Patty thinks she has hurt Paul; A psychiatrist questions Ashley
