More silly questions....

I keep reading "you will get wet", "you will get drenched" for various rides.

so, is there a strategy to deal with this? Ride in this order, not in this order? I remember one year we got drenched at Disneyland and then went to see the indoor Aladdin show and froze in the a/c -- not a good strategy!

Also, what to wear? Should I be shopping for quick-dry undies!? :lmao:
Do people sometimes wear ponchos and do the water rides back to back? I'm not too vain to consider this option.

We are doing the one-night onsite thing, so our luggage will basically be in storage at the bell hop station -- not real easy to go change into dry clothes. Plus it will be October, so may not be overlyhot. Hard to tell.

Ideas?!

Ponchos won't help on Popeye. You may want to just bring along a change of clothing and store it in the lockers at the front of the park.

This.

Ponchos + sitting in the back row of Jurassic Park = lowest chance of getting wet

Ponchos + Ripsaw Falls = you'll still get wet

Ponchos + Popeye & Bluto's = waste of time/money

Damo's idea is best. When you go to the water rides, do them in the order of JP-Ripsaw-Popeye. Then go to the locker, change, and then check out the stuff in Marvel Island. You do NOT want to walk into Spider-Man or Doctor Doom after riding the water rides... BRRRRRRRR

We wore ponchos and did the rides in order: Jurassic Park, Ripsaw Falls, Popeye and Bluto's.

I stayed dry.

Brother-in-law was in the front row on Ripsaw Falls, and his poncho did not stay tucked under him. It flew up in his face so that he couldn't see.

Nephew was too cool to wear a poncho. On Popeye and Bluto's, he got dumped on. He got soaked. It's the luck of the draw on that one as to who happens to be where as the raft moves through the wettest parts of the ride.

Sit on the right hand side on the Jaws ride. I was on the far left and was soaked afterwards :P

My family wore ponchos (89 cents from walmart) on Ripsaw Falls & on Popeye's, the only thing that got wet was my face/hair (bc i didn't put the hood up) and then my calves and feet. The key is to make sure you sit on your poncho! Don't let it bunch up under you, otherwise your bottom will get wet. We rode ripsaw falls and then went right over to popeye's and did that... then we were done for the ponchos and water rides for the day! We sat in the back of Jurassic Park without ponchos and didnt get too wet.

Wow! Two reports that ponchos keep you dry on Popeye. I would never have guessed.

I'm with the Dark Marauder and damo. Popeye defeats ponchos.

"You WILL get
soakin' wet!"

BTW, its my favourite ride.

You WILL get wet......but love it !!

Scolass, you look cold!

I like this strategy -- last rides of the first day. The bad thing is that the park closes at 6pm, so quite early, and we had thought about heading back into Potterland. Which leads to my next question: how does US and IOA handle the lines at the end of the day? Do they shut them down prior to closing at 6pm? Or is it like Disney where you can get in line at 5:59 and still ride, even if it takes until 6:30 pm

haven't had it happen often, but do recall being in line and riding after official close time.

jmho, others who visit more often would know better: U does seem to have TMs stationed indicating the rides are closed & the parks seems to clear out substantially well before posted closing time.

We plan to ride those just before our midday break, when it's hot and we will be heading back to the hotel anyway. I guess that only works if you're onsite and can walk or take a boat back.

If you make it in line at 5:59, then you still get to ride. If you show up at 6:01, the line will be closed. I always encourage those who put the wet rides for last to try to get in line by :45 for their last ride. It's just to ensure they make it.
