"You want to ride Dinosaur again?" - New 10/21 - The End!

Thank you!! I'm glad somebody thought it was funny!!

As I was just reading my 3 year old came in, looked and said Wiggles, Wiggles.

I did think your comment was funny, and I got it earlier!!! I just thought by the time I saw everyone would have commented on it.

I don't really know who the Wiggles are!

That's so sad about Jeff and family. I hope the boys took the news okay. What a disppointment. :sad2:

Okay, so did you say those rocks were 4.95 EACH?!?

My Jonah used to watch the Wiggles religiously! It's so sad that he is too grown up for those "little kid" shows now. :sad1:

Thanks for the giggle! ;)

PS>> I posted at the same time you were posting! Didn't even see you had an update....I saw it and laughed first, promise!

We loved the Wiggles for a long time - even saw them in concert twice. One time we got to attend a meet & greet for kids with special needs. It was great!!

(Don't worry - I know you posted first. ;))

Every time I wrote or read "where's jeff" that's all I could think of! :rotfl: That's funny that your 3 year old noticed it. My Zach loves looking at the smileys. :goodvibes

What a shame about the cousins!!! :(

My kids :lovestruc Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, and the Boneyard as well. :goodvibes

It was a major let down that the cousins couldn't join us - we saw them for a couple days earlier in the week, but we hadn't even said good-bye to one of them because we thought we'd see them again...

I think my boys loved Dinosaur better than EE this year!

Julie - It's only a matter of time before you know the Wiggles very well! ::yes::

And yes - $4.95 for a rock!

I'm sorry the cousins weren't able to come :sad2: Otherwise, your day sounds like great fun! That's an expensive rock! As for the Wiggles, my boys have never been fans :confused3 Looking forward to your next update! popcorn::

OK some of you must know the Wiggles... nobody thought this was funny?

Where's Jeff? :rotfl: I was cracking myself up over that! I'll just assume that nobody saw it when I posted it and keep laughing by myself! :rolleyes1

I got it!! I got it!!

In fact, I was thinking about Jeff Wiggle when I wrote it!!!

(Now I'm going back to read the rest.....)

..... okay, I'm back!!

I was waiting for you to ride Dinosaur!! I wonder how many times you eventually did ride it? Looks like its an obvious "boy" ride!

Love, Love, Love FOTLK!! Wouldn't miss it!

Sorry about the cousins! That was too bad...

The day started well, but it went downhill from there...

Yes - the cousin thing was a huge disappointment... Luckily it looks like they'll be coming for a 10 day visit in August!! Although we've decided not to tell the kids they are coming (they know Jeff & Karen are coming) until we receive confirmation that they are actually in the car on their way up from Florida. ;)

Was/Is Billy into the Wiggles? Alex was TOTALLY OBSESSED with them for a couple years!

Oh yes, he loved them a few years back! We have many of their videos and DVDs... anything with music and singing appeals to Billy!

I think its wise not to get the boys' hopes up about the cousins' summer visit... just make it a wonderful surprise!

Kathy

Okay all caught up! Enjoyed reading about your days! Seems like you had some great times in each park so far! I like your "mystery" photos!!! Chef Mickey's looked like fun -- we have never been! Can't wait to try it next time!

I think I can guess why the cousins didn't come...I hope I'm wrong thou.

If it had been me....I would have been really annoyed with Jeff for not calling until the afternoon...one of my biggest pet peeves is people wasting my time...and at Disney no less!

Chef Mickey's was a lot of fun - getting to the resort restaurants via bus was a bit time consuming though.

We still don't know the whole story... but more on that later. We were pretty peeved with Jeff. Tim was really angry with Jeff's ex-wife - he jumped to the conclusion that it had something to do with her. :confused3

Zachary and I got to see Up yesterday! We saw the 3-D version, which wouldn't have been my fist choice because 3-D glasses don't always work well with my regular glasses plus it cost $11 for my ticket and $10.50 for Zach's! But the regular version wasn't playing early enough for us to be back home to pick up Alex at 3:00.

Zachary only kept his glasses on for half of the time but mine worked out ok. It was fun to experience the 3-D version & really fun to see the Toy Story 3 announcement! The movie was really cute! I cried at the beginning... and loved the ending!! :thumbsup2

Back to the story...

When we left off, Jeff had called to say the kids weren't coming and he & Karen wouldn't be able to catch up with us until after dinner. We decided to head on toward FOTLK even though I had really wanted to share the amazing show with the rest of the family. We would wait until after the show to tell the kids of the new developments.

We grabbed a couple waters before heading into FOTLK to help cool us off. The theater was pretty full when we arrived but we were able to get seats in the back of the lion section. We were right in the middle of the row – the seats were great!! Alex was so-so about the show, but Zachary really enjoyed it! Tim was impressed too. When I told him we HAD to see this show I’m guessing that he didn’t think it would be anything like it was!

Now it was 3:00 but our dinner ADR wasn’t until 5pm at Whispering Canyon Café. It didn’t make any sense to go back to CBR at this point so we had to kill some time. As we walked toward our next attraction we decided to tell the kids that their cousins wouldn’t be able to join us for the weekend! Zachary just looked really sad, but Alex lost it. He started demanding that they come and asking why they couldn’t come. We reassured them that Jeff & Karen were coming and we would see them tonight after dinner at the resort. They calmed down a little bit but clearly weren’t happy. We decided to head back over to EE. We rode that, then the boys both wanted to ride Dinosaur again. They loved it again! Then we took a couple spins on Triceratops Spin - there was absolutely NO line! I took some pictures from up at the top:

Up Next: Those are some dangerous horses!

Hi Amy,

sorry I got a bit behind on your TR.

and of course I knew the 2nd to last mystery photo...:headache:

I love the where's Jeff (wiggles) reference! I love the wiggles....the older 3 are a bit beyond them, but I hope Margaret we'll get into the videos.

"Yummy, Yummy, Fruit Salad" My Dsis & I can't help but sing that anytime we are making it. :rotfl:

We saw them in Chicago many moons ago....

Your boys are braver than me....once on Dinosaur is enough for me... & , but EE no issues...weird what your mind and body can do!

sorry that your AK day is starting out rough and the bomb dropped w/ your family.... :sad2:

YAY, that Tim enjoyed FotLK....Matt just loves that show!

Hope the end of your day is better....looking forward to more!

And my guess for the current mystery photo...you are walking on a trail at some resort....which one though :confused3

We were just so wowed by FOLTK! You got some truly awesome pictures!!!

That's a shame that Alex took the news of his cousins so hard -- it's not easy being disappointed when you are a kid. :(

Oh, I know! I know!! You're at the Wilderness Lodge!!

(We stayed there, so I recognize those mission-style lamps on the lamposts!)

Hopefully some hootin' and hollerin' at WCC will have cheered the boys up a bit!!

We need ketchup!!! :rotfl2:

Kathy

Great update! I'm sorry the boys were so disappointed about the cousins not coming - it's tough to make something like that easier to take  Your pictures of FotLK look fabulous - I soooo can't wait to see that show! Great ride pictures! I can't wait to hear how your WCC dinner was! I've booked that our first night there and I hope we all love it! I hope you all loved it too! :goodvibes

FOTLK is awesome!! :thumbsup2
Hopefully our next day will be awesome. :confused3

That's a shame that Alex took the news of his cousins so hard -- it's not easy being disappointed when you are a kid. :(

I've seen so many pictures of FOTLK before ever seeing the actual show and I can say that pictures just don't do it justice! After seeing the show I have a greater appreciation for the pictures people post, but you really have to see it to get the full effect!

It's not easy being disappointed as a kid & even more so when you are Alex & expect things to go as planned.

Alex LOVES yearbooks! And it's the time of year that his school sells them. We ordered his a week or two ago and he has been waiting and waiting for his new yearbook. Today they came... but his teacher wouldn't let the kids have them because she didn't want them to forget to bring them back to school next week to do autographs. When I picked Alex up - along with my neighbor's 2 girls (who are in different grades than Alex), the girls had their yearbooks and he was in tears after we dropped them off... well long story short, we ended up going back to school and asking his teacher if we could have his if he promised to bring it back on Monday. Luckily she agreed because it would have been a looooooong weekend! He doesn't like when things don't go his way...

You got it!! The Wilderness Lodge it is! I had mixed emotions about going because I had planned this night to be our big family dinner...

Unfortunately the disappointment carried on for a while longer... luckily they are quite fond of Jeff & Karen so their moods did improve when we finally got to see them. And I'm not telling when that was quite yet...

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there… none of whom are reading this report… and to all the dad’s in your lives.

When I left off we were killing some time in Dinoland USA before we could head to…
IMG_3221.jpg

As Kathy guessed… The Wilderness Lodge for dinner at the Whispering Canyon Café!!

After riding Triceratops Spin it was almost 4:15 so we headed out of the park to catch a bus to the Wilderness Lodge. We were hoping that it would work out OK to show up as a party of 4 when our ADR was for a party of 8. Alex’s mood was horrible because of the unexpected change of plans with his cousins. He had also been looking forward to eating dinner with Jeff & Karen – which wasn’t going to happen either. :headache: I think we were all a little grumpy at this point and needed some food! The parade finishing up so we encountered some crowds departing the park but we were able to catch a bus quickly. We probably should have gotten on a CBR bus at this point based on Alex’s mood, but we needed to eat so we continued on with our plan to go to WCC. Alex was not happy and was getting very belligerent. He was yelling “no” to everything and nothing could calm him down - which in turn stresses Zachary out. He kept asking for his Disney book that was back in the room. (Guide to the Magic – he was writing in it a lot that week.) I had brought some autism awareness cards and I almost whipped them out to hand out on the bus but I was too preoccupied with trying to calm Alex down. If we had been in our own vehicle we could have turned around and gone home! Fortunately, this was the only bus incident we had all week. We finally got him playing bowling on Tim’s ipod when it froze up and he lost his game. Oy!! It wasn’t a good evening so far. Tim was getting really angry at Jeff’s ex-wife. He assumed that she was somehow responsible for J & K not coming along and therefore it was her fault that our kids were melting down. We still don’t have the whole story but it does somehow tie back to her.

We finally made it to WCC and Alex calmed down a bit. Tim started asking him genealogy questions. Alex loves to talk about who was married to who, who their kids are, how old everyone is, etc. He knows way more about my family than I do! This helped distract him.

The Wilderness Lodge is beautiful!! I don’t have too many pictures from this night because we were in crisis mode. We checked in around 4:45 and it was OK that there were only 4 of us. We sat down in the lobby for a few minutes while we waited.

We were seated at 4:55 for our 5:00 ADR! We were seated right next to the railing overlooking the lobby of the WL. It was a great seat – a little out of the way, but had a great view rather than being up against a boring wall. The kids had skillets with chicken. We got Alex’s with fries – I knew he didn’t love the Disney fries, but he definitely wouldn’t have eaten potatoes. The kids were impressed with the “Hidden” Mickey plates. Tim & I each got the skillets. It had chicken, pulled pork (yum), ribs, potatoes, cornbread and coleslaw. I think there was another meat or two too. Tim got a shake with his dinner – he was excited to find it part of the dining plan because he had been craving one earlier in the week! The food was all good, but I was starting to feel a grease overload. I found it odd how we were served though. The drinks came then the corn bread, followed by the kids’ meals and our salads. Then our meals came, but the kids were pretty much done eating by then. The desserts were great here too – I got apple pie and Tim had cheesecake. The kids had had cookies? with their meals so again, they were left to wait while we ate. Luckily it was time for the wooden horse parade around the room. I helped them get their horses and reminded Alex to keep the stick down so as not to hit anyone and then I let them go off without me and hoped for the best. I had visions of Alex knocking over a little toddler or something. But it all worked out OK.

That’s my rear end… helping the boys get their “horses”:

We also got to see someone order ketchup and a really large soda. There was also a little girl who was turning 2 – they made a big fuss about it and the poor little girl cried.

On our way out we took a leisurely walk. I took some pictures of the lodge along the way. It’s so beautiful there!!

Continued with the next post...

Oy to the bus ride to Wilderness Lodge! Poor Alex and poor you! I will say that those Disney meltdowns do occur with children who aren't autistic as well...:rolleyes1 I am sure that everyone on the bus had experienced (or would experience) a similar child meltdown at some point in their vacation.

The Wilderness Lodge is so lovely! I enjoyed seeing all the pictures. You can really tell that the same architect designed both WL and AKL.

Dinner sounds very yummy! The horse riding was cracking me up!

Happy Father's Day to Tim! :goodvibes

That's so disappointing about the cousins not being able to go. :( I know how disappointed my boys would be in the same situation.

For some reason, we've never walked out back of the WL. I think we were going to when we went this last trip, but it was starting to rain or something.
