Got this forwarded to me in an email and was :rotfl: at it.

You know you grew up in the 80's if..........
1. You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCH."
2. You can sing the rap to the "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" and can do the
"Carlton."
3. Girls wore biker shorts under their skirts and felt stylishly sexy.
4. Two words: Hammer Pants.
5. You wore a ponytail on the side of your head.
6. You made your mom buy one of those clips that would hold your shirt
in a knot on the side.
7. You wore stone washed Jordache jean jackets and were proud of it.
8. L.A.Gear....need I say more?
9. You remember reading "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" and all the
Ramona Quimby books.
10. You know the profound meaning of "WAX ON, WAX OFF."
11. You ever wore fluorescent clothing. (Some of us...head-to-toe).
12. You can remember what Michael Jackson looked like before his nose
fell off and his cheeks shifted.
13. You still get the urge to say "NOT" after every sentence.
14. You ever owned a pair of Jelly-Shoes (and probably in neon colors,
too).
15. After you saw "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" you kept saying "I know you
are, but what am I?
16. You remember "I've fallen and I can't get up."
17. You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline
skates.
18. You ever got seriously injured on a Slip and slide.
19. You have played with a Skip-It.
20. You had or attended a birthday party at McDonalds.
21. You've gone through this nodding your head in agreement.
22. "Don't worry, be happy."
23. You wore, like, EIGHT pairs of socks over tights with high top
Reeboks.
24. You wore socks scrunched down (and sometimes still do).
25. You remember boom boxes.
26. You remember Alf, the li'l furry brown alien from Melmac.
27. You remember New Kids on the Block when they were cool.
28. You know all the words to Bon Jovi's "SHOT THROUGH THE HEART."
29. (You just sang those words to yourself.)
30. You remember watching Magic vs. Bird. Oh yeah............it will
never be that good again
31. Homemade Levi shorts... (The shorter the better.)
32. You remember when mullets were cool!
33. You had a mullet!
34. You still sing "We are the World."
35. You tight rolled your jeans.
36. You owned a banana clip.
37. You remember "Where's the Beef?
38. You used to (and probably still do) say "What you talkin' 'bout
Willis?"
39. You had big hair and you knew how to use it.
40. You wanted to be a 'Goonie'

You're still singing "Shot through the Heart" in your head, aren't
you!!!

Just look at my tag. Numbers 35 and 39 definitely apply here!!!! :cool1:

o geez!! numbers...1 , 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 11, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27,,,, and that is from me being born in 84..so this goes to the early 90s!

Re: #28. Although they get the title wrong (It's "You Give Love A Bad Name"), that is still a great song...and it is in my head!

I really prefer the non-mom jeans to tight rolled...PSYCH! I totally, like TOtally, miss tight rolled jeans, big hair, and scrunched socks!

The 80's were, like, fun, ya know? These non-mom jeans, are, like, Gag me with a French Fry! And with the slutty shirts? Ohmygod, they are skeezy! Like, "I wanna be a Ho." Barf out loud!

OH my gosh! That was just too funny. Thank you for posting that :rotfl2:
I think there were only a few of those that did not apply to me.
I remember wearing a lot of flourescent orange (including the long, puffly, lacy hairbow--in flourescent orange  ) I totally thought I looked like Madonna!
I not only had the jelly shoes, but also a jelly purse! And it took me a long time to stop scrunching down my socks, too. lol. Thanks again for posting that, Midnite. :thumbsup2

I was in my 20s in the 80s'...

OMG - #23--- High top Reeboks... I had a red pair and a turqoise blue pair...

How about wearing high heels with those Jordache jeans? I had yellow, red, and turquoise blue patent leather pumps.....

I had shoes to match every outfit I wore - we are not just talking black, navy, etc.... as you can see from my color choices above!

#26 - Loved ALF - have the first season on DVD. DD loves it too -
"Kate do you have a casserole dish?
Kate "Why"
"Because the cat won't fit into the toaster".

That is one of my favorite lines.......

I was in High School in the early 80's and graduated in 84. Most of these crack me UP!

I STILL love Carlton and think he MADE Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
I remember "pegging" my jeans to make them tight around the ankles.
I had a pair of high top Keds and always wore scrunchy socks with them.
Don't forget parachute pants...I had a pair or two of those!
I remember when everyone wore Polo shirts with upturned collars!
Always joked about the Pee Wee movie..."I know you are but what am I?"
Always made reference to karate Kid and the Wax on, wax off thing...also would kid around with each other by doing the famous Karate Kid stance he did with the one leg and arms in the air.
Def Leppard was HUGE!
Everytime a new MJ video came out everyone was glued to the TV for the Debut.
Anyone else remember wearing Topsiders or Penny Loafers with their jeans and upturned collars?

I wish I could remember more.....

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl:

LOL! This soooo applies to me. I also remember using like half a can of Aquanet in the mornings on my hair. I think it would have stayed in place through a tornado!

WOW!!! That so applies to me!!! And I am still laughing about Shot through the Heart!!! :rotfl2: Yes, I'm still singing it!!!

*I listen to an all 80's radio station (106.9 out of Houston) and DD6 loves it!!! She knows all the songs!

That's something else I miss.

And a V-neck sweater from The Limited (and coordinating striped shirt, of course) with a Swatch watch worn OVER the sweater cuff.

I had Swatch watches for all the different outfits.

I do NOT miss the pointy-toed shoe-boots. Those things killed my toes.

Oh noo.. I forgot about the Swatches and Limited sweaters... I had one in every color.

How about the Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine hairspray... i can still smell it... I had a small bottle in my purse, and of course always had a bottle in my car!

I had a really short asymetrical hairstyle with a little tiny pony tail in the back. I used to braid it and wear a bow at the end. My hairstylist love me, as I would let her get "funky" with my hair!

Those were the good old days... I was single, working and made GOOD money for my age, and lived for the weekends to party party party!

Thanks for bringing back such great memories that made me smile and laugh tonight!!!!

okay i laughed so hard i woke up my DH! this is great! thanks for posting! and many of these apply to me!

Great post!

I so miss the 80's! I was definately a child of the 80's :)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
this thread was bait! and i took it. i feel like a total spaz. who's with me?
and i must now add grody to the max for sure. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

That was hilarious! I was only in elementary school, but I remember 98% of that!! Definitely singing shot through the heart!! And my mom wouldnt buy me one of those tshirt clips, so I had to do the knot thing, which stretched out one side of the shirt HORRIBLY!

Holy cow......that whole list sounded like a trip down my personal memory lane. Those were the days. And I thought I looked so hot. What the heck was I thinking? And those were also the days of tape cassettes and making your own mix tapes. Damn, i miss those.

Fear not people because teenagers today are doing the 'polo with a popped collar' thing.

Let's not forget...

Neon shaker knit sweaters
Leather ties
Guys wearing pink shirts
Kids trying (and usually failing) to learn how to moonwalk
Eddie Murphy's Raw and Delerious movies
Video Hits (Canadian after-school music video show)
Good Rockin' Tonight (Canadian Friday Night music video show)
Guys weating pink ties
Beta
Gestetner copy machines at school (maybe more the 70s?)
Canada-Russia hockey games (just not the same anymore)
Ghetto Blasters
Jeans with zippers down the sides of the legs
Guys wearing pink sweaters
Deck shoes

OMG!! Every one of these, except 17, apply to me! How bad is that?!?!

Former poofy-banged hairspray addict here :wave2:

Does anyone remember the Genera Hyper-Color shirts?
Believe it or not, I still have mine. In fact, I just discovered it the other day, and it still works!
For those who are unfamiliar, they change color when heat is applied--ie, when you get hot--your armpits would turn, say, a bright neon pink. :rotfl2:
Yep--an interesting 80's invention. My shirt was orange and white tie-dye that turned a blotchy neon pink.
