"I'm going to the MAC machine".

How about a saying local to you?

BTW, a "MAC machine" is an ATM. In Philly they were called MAC by PSFS... a long gone bank. Money Access Center

Well I'm not from Philly and we call it a MAC machine. :teeth:

Not a saying, but how about when you have your mother send you Tastykakes through the mail because you can't get them in Chi-town? (I'm outing my fiance on this one...although I admit those butterscotch krimpets or whatever they are are darn good...)

We call them MAC machines in our neck of the woods too. Old habits die hard, don't they?

And here, it's not "soda," it's "pop."

The first time I went to WDW, I asked a CM where a MAC machine was and she had no idea what I was talking about.

Especially when you ask them where you can tap MAC :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

South Jersey

Hoagies not subs
soda not pop
shoobies not tourists

You can tell if someone has lived here for a long time when they still refer to the Shore Mall as Searstown and The FAA Tech Center as Nafec.

Car = Cah
Park = Pahk
Harvard = HahvaHd
Yard = Yahd

So, I pahked the cah in Hahvahd yahd.

Can you tell I live in Massachusetts? I'm originally from New Mexico, but lived in a burb of Boston for 7 years and now I live on Cape Cod.

ETA: I DO NOT speak this way what so ever. If I did my dad would dis-own me.

From North Jersey and we always called them MAC machines (still do).

It's a PA-wide thing, not a Philly thing. :) I grew up in PA, but about as far away from Philly as you can get within PA. :)

When we first got our ATM cards it was a MAC card (money access card) and was good at all backs that displayed the MAC logo. Later it became a cirrus (I think) card and they bought out MAC and so on. No I am not from Philly.

And you know youre from Chicago when you call it a Cash Station.... :goodvibes

When you use the term Starbucks like Kleenex and you have a Tully's or Seattle's best cup in your hand.

When your driving plans have to include what floating bridge will be more clear, or even open.

South Jersey Girl here transplanted to WV

Wooder = water
fawl = fall
awn = on
shoobies I here ya'
We do love our long a's even when they aren't part of the word don't we!!! and adding w's to words..... :rotfl2:

I have a dear friend is from Baaston = Boston and everything is Wicked and a shopping cart is a carriage

For those of you who truly know what a steamer is, in WV it is a Hot Dog with sloppy joe mix on it - so imagine my surprise the first time I ordered steamers......

Also I have noticed some interesting pronunciations here in WV

warsh = wash (also used when saying washington they say warshington)
pin = pen
fitty = fifty ( I actually know someone who wrote a check for fitty dollars at a bank, my dear friend from Boston, her husband)
abear = up there

Oh I know there are dozens more but I have had my laugh for the day -Thank you!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm from NE PA and we call them MAC machines, too.
