You know that Tide commercial with the victims of disaster?

Okay, this is one of those stupid things that irrationally bothers me...

The second lady says "you don't know how very basic essentials are until you have none".... am I the only one who thinks that makes NO SENSE?? And I don't understand why that is the clip they use in the commercial, because it makes no sense to me.

I think she forgot to say the word important. If you add "you don't know how important very basic essentials are until you have none".... it makes sense then

I didn't make sense of that line in the Tide commercial either.

I'm also bothered by the AT&T wireless ad where the boy goes to Europe and sends the girlfriends pics of all the places he goes. The song playing starts with the line "I think that possibly maybe I'm falling for you". (actual Song title: "Falling In Love at a Coffee Shop" Artist: Landon Pigg )
I have to change the channel when it comes on.

I'm not sure if those are real clips or if it was scripted... I don't fault her for saying that to a camera if it was a spur of the moment thing. If the camera was on me, the sentence would be something to the effect of "Ummm...well... <fidget>... it was nice <look down at ground> for them to do that".

Hahaha... I'm not good when a camera is in front of me!!!

But it's weird to me that they picked that particular clip to be part of the commercial.

Yeah, she rubbed me the wrong way. It's not only that what she says doesn't make sense but for some reason instead of feeling sorry for somebody in her situation I actually don't......She just kind of irritates me........

On a slightly related note Do you think when they offer to do your laundry they would be upset if you asked them not to use Tide? My whole family is allergic! I am glad they do that for people but I would be running the other way

I noticed this as well. I think it would make more sense if she had said "you don't know how essential the basics are until you have none"

Wow, I'm truly the only freak who doesn't listen to commercials.

It's kind of hard not to notice the ads when they are blasting at you at three times the decibel level of the show you are watching. But I have to admit to actually liking quite a few commercials, some of them are better written and have better acting than a good number of the shows on tv. I will even watch the cheesy "Top 100 Commercials" shows.

Yes, it's been driving me nuts since the first time I saw it. Thank you for posting this because I thought it was just me!
