You may want to consider what I do. I go to my local Yankee Candle store. They always have those air pillows & other plastic packing supplies since all they ever receives are candles which are super packed with the stuff. They just bag up all the packing stuff & trash it. I get huge bags, probably about 4 feet high by 3 feet wide. It's all free & it's all good packing material. many different types too. From air pillows to those "poppie" sheets to "poppie" bags. The "poppie" bags work great for smaller things because I don't have to buy bubble envelopes anymore. I just buy the regular old envelopes, put the item in a bubble bag, & stick it in the plain envelope. It's the same thing. There's obviously many other stores that have these supplies, but Yankee is the one I use. As I said, it's free for you & you're actually helping them by getting rid of their "trash". They also have great boxes too if you need some bigger ones.

I have to tell you, I never thought of anyone getting their supplies here LOL! With my allergies and asthma, if I ever bought something on eBay and it came with packing goods from Yankle candle I'd prob about die from the scent! :earseek:I have trouble sometimes when someone sends a check, and it "smells" of Yankee candle LOL!! We put it on the porch until it's time to go to the bank.

Well if I don't recover from this pnuemonia soon, I'm in BIG trouble!!

I just got fired!!!!!

Can't say I'm surprised.. This new guy struck me as a "snake in the grass" from day one.. When one of the other gals came back to work from being hospitalized - and was fired the same morning - I suspected I might be in for the same treatment.. He was quite rude and nasty about it, but thems the breaks, I guess..

Back to trying to do eBay full-time as soon as I'm able here.. sure hope this isn't a "dry" period..

I am so sorry to hear that. I can't believe a company would fire a person after being hospitalized. It certainly appears to be a legitimate absence and I just can't understand their reasoning.

Nice guy. Does the family leave act cover you in this instance? If you are out sick with a doctor's excuse, I thought they had to let you stay out for a certain amount of time, (without pay) and give you a similar job upon return.

-----------------------------------------

Unfortunately I'm not covered by the FMA - for two reasons.. One is that I haven't been back there long enough (I think it works out to something like 5 months of full-time employment) - and the other is that I'm a part-time employee and was still on a probationary period with an "at will" employer..

Never fear - I still want to follow through with our "deal" though - it's just now I'll be driving you crazy asking if you have any "free" (extra) packing supplies - LOL.. ;)

DD is coming to take me to the grocery store today (I still can't manage by myself) and if she has time when we come back I'm going to ask her to dig out some more stuff for eBay and take photos of it for me.. If by some MIRACLE I can get come up with descriptions and get it listed tonight, is Friday night a REALLY bad night to have auctions end?

I'm sorry so sorry CAnn! That really stinks :(. That man's karma is so bad, he's going to come back in his next life as a male mosquito!

I guess I must be delerious from being sick or something because you know what REALLY bothers me the most about this firing issue? My immediate supervisor has been out of work for 3 weeks now.. (I can't think of a "delicate" way to put it, but she has basically been "waiting" for a family member to die who has been on life support.. Poor thing..) Anyhow - she is the SWEETEST person in the world - a SUPER supervisor - and has dedicated many, many, MANY extra hours to this company and until now has NEVER taken any time off..

Well - while she's been gone Mr. "Nice Guy" (who is higher up the ladder than she is) has been going through her dept. like a tornado through a trailer park - changing absolutely EVERYTHING and instituting policies (such as sending out financial info to our clients without it being proofed, etc.) that would make her hair curl..

Now I could be wrong, but I have this AWFUL feeling that when she attempts to come back, SHE will have been terminated too.. And THAT will make me FURIOUS!!! He's been lowering the ax left and right and if pnuemonia isn't a valid reason to be absent from work, I don't see how waiting on a family member to die would be.. (It's a grandmother - so not really even "immediate" immediate family..)

I swear - if he fires HER, I will TOTALLY flip out.. He's bad - really, really bad..

Okay - not eBay related though so I'll shut up now.. LOL :teeth:

That thought hadn't occured to me..I just felt bad about your job. You know "he" has a good home while waiting.

Who knows when a good or bad day is..if someone wants something, they will come LOL!

So sorry to hear you got fired! In my state, part-timers can still get unemployment compensation--hope that's true in your state, too.

This may turn out to be just the break you need to make a real business out of Ebay!

Thanks, that's what i was thinking of doing. Is there anything else there that would be useful or can things be bought cheaper, such as envelopes, bubblewrap, etc., elsewhere.

I read a few suggestions regarding the Yankee Candle store (great idea, but the smell is exceedling strong)...

But I have had amazing luck at Target for boxes and bubblewrap... just today, I went and looked for the long red restocking cart.. (getting out breakable Easter things,), and larger /sturday boxes...

They told me I could walk around the store and take as many boxes as I wanted as long as they dont say REstock in large green lettters... those restock boxes (made out of heavier cardboard) go back to corporate.

I got a whole trunkful of boxes, and a good hunk of bubblewrap. I have to ship a laptop and a PC this weekend, so that is great for me!

Cindy, who did you ask for permission? I have a Target near me.

Many employees were just unloading merchandise. As you know, the "department" or shift managers, are usually dressed slightly nicer than the regualar Target T shirt employees... (usually a red sweater/khakis, instead of Target Tshirt).

There were some employees and the department/shift manager there. They had the big red restocking cart on the sales floor, and I asked if I could take the boxes... they said fine! They just showed me what I couldn't take!

The employees saw me leaving (a cart full of boxes ), and gave me another box full of bubblewrap!

I have done the same thing at Big Lots...

Thanks! I will give that a try. I wonder if they receive and unload merchandise every day or if one day is better than another during the week.

A quick question about amazon.com. Is there a way to close your listing? or do you have to let it run its 60 day cycle?

I know you can put it on vacation but that only puts it on hold not cancel it all together.

Click on your open listings on your seller account page, then click on "edit" for the individiual listing. On the next screen, you will see a small box that says "close this listing now"--click on that.

Thanks found it. I had looked but didn't see it  sometimes you can't see things that are right in front of your face :)

Did EXACTLY the same thing the first time I tried to close listings....."Why the heck can't I find a way to close this listing??" :p

Heres a few pictures.. Does anyone know anything about this bowl??
