WHY oh WHY do people bid...then pay by echeck(which needs to clear) and then email you and say "I NEED the item now"

I have a guy who want to come to my HOUSE and pick it up...ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm NO WAY! Don't think so. Maybe they need to plan out the time line before they bid huh? Especially with a Holiday coming up.

SHEESH!

rant over! Thanks!

How would you all handle this:

I have person who bought 12 collectible cottages from me. They live in the UK and want them shipped all together. Other than a lot of bubble wrap, what else can I use/do to pack these good?
They did get the insurance.

TIA

I once mailed out 8 collectable mini teapots to my mother, in Florida. I crumpled up alot of newspaper on the bottom of the box, to make it cushy. I doublewrapped each teapot in bubblewrap and put additional crumbled newspaper in between each teapot in the box. I covered the contents with alot of crumbled newspaper. When I was done, I made sure that nothing was able to move around the box inside. I also cut up cardboard and placed it on top on everything. After taping the box closed, I shook and shook it, nothing was moving and she received it in perfect condition. I also mailed it priority, because I think they take just alittle bit better care with priority than with parcel post. Your going to go through alot of bubble wrap and newspaper if you do it this way. But, better to be safe than sorry. If anything broke, it was going to my mother and she wouldn't complain to me and cause aggrivation, buyers are a diff. story...
Good luck

I just read this on another site...There's a virus going around disguising itself as an email from paypal. Just make sure your anti-virus software is turned on. It supposedly started on 11/14..

I didn't think when I gave my ID out to my mother and MIL now everyone from California to Ohio watches our stuff. I would love to clear my house out a bit but don't want to offend folks. I have some beautiful boutique clothing that was given to us as gifts that my boys never wore (the outfits were too girl-y) now I am afraid that the folks who gave them to us would see "never worn" gifts in our auctions! I also get family that calls up requesting the items I put on... especially my mom. I do a lot of fabrics and craft items so if something sells well she is on the phone asking for some for herself for free!

All this is frustrating but not as good as my sister. She forgot that she once told me her ID. I looked it up once and saw that they were selling USED SOCKS. Not only is this gross but it is a front for something else that is really sold!

If I had to do it over I would have changed my ID in the start. Since you use to be able to look someone's ID up with the email address, I would have opened a different email address account, new ID and then not said a word!

Understanding on this side....

Jen H.

This is what I finally decided to do:

I put a layer of bubble wrap and crumpled newspaper on the bottom. Then I wrapped each cottage in several layers of bubble wrap and taped them. I put cumpled up newspaper between each cottage along with some styrofoam sheets and along each side of the box. I finished it off with a few layers of bubble wrap on top. Nothing is moving. It is a very heavy box and the woman wanted it sent Airmail. Hopefully it arrives safely and all in one piece.:D

LOL
At least our VHS tapes have been "used"...lol...though not much as the boys never cared for them. I decided to go ahead and list them, and two have already sold. Maybe they'll be gone before she checks again! :hyper:
As pjlla said, the boys HAVE outgrown them, they've had them for years. (Though I DO have a DD who might have "grown into" them, I don't care for them myself and don't want to have to watch them again.) I don't really know that MIL would be offended anyway...I'm sure I'm not expected to keep everything that's given to us FOREVER, right?

Do you have the boxes for them? I would wrap each in bubble wrap inside an small box, wrap the box in bubble wrap and them put them in a shipping box with crumbled tissue/newspaper on the bottom, making sure to "fill in" any gaps with newspaper/tissue paper, and making sure the inside boxes are cushioned on each side and do not touch the sides/top/bottom of the box.

In regards to others knowing your ID, my mom knows mine (as I do hers) and I really wish she didn't. I have things that I wouldn't mind trying to put on ebay somethings she gave me, some are a little risque and I wouldn't want her to know I have them. I sold a VHS Video that apparently she had bought "for her house" that she ended up giving my DD for our house. OMG!! You would have though I was selling the family jewels or something (not that we have any).

I shipped a book to a person in CT at the address provided through Paypal, although it was an unconfirmed address. (So is mine, so I didn't worry about it.) I have now found out through the Delivery Confirmation that the package is "undeliverable." I presume that it will be returned to me by the USPS. Now for the question.... if the buyer provides a new address to mail it to, who pays for the additional shipping? I don't want to be a tightwad about this, but he only paid $3.75 for the book. I charged $4.50 for the original shipping (it was a large, heavy text book). It cost a total of $3.23 for USPS media mail, including DC, plus an additional .70 cents for the shipping envelope, so I didn't really gouge him on the shipping in the first place. (I was lucky he was an East coaster, or it may have cost a lot more!) SO ANYHOW, who pays the $3.23 again? Do I pay for, eat any profit I may have made, just for the sake of goodwill, peace on earth, and positive feedback? LET ME HEAR YOUR OPINIONS!!... Thanks.... pjlla

This isn't a rumor - my dad got an email on Tuesday supposedly from Paypal with an attachment. He opened the attachment and that is when the problems started. It totally corrupted one computer and has caused major problems with all his other computers since he is on a network. One major headache for his business. Today he received 50 of the same email message supposedly from Paypal.

Please DO NOT open any attachments that are supposedly from Paypal!!

That depends on whether it was your error or theirs. Meaning did you put the correct address from paypal or did you transpose a number or something. If the address given by paypal is the address that you put on the envelope then the buyer should pay the shipping (exact only). If it was your error then you should pay the shipping. Also if you are using the download shipping assistant it there is a button you can use that will confirm the address is valid. I have found a couple errors with this.

Okay...instead of SELLING, I've been BIDDING the past couple of hours.. GASP !!

I have a question though.. I have the Paypal premier business account (with the debit card) but I want to put CASH (that I have here) into that account..

How do I do that?

Thanks!

but I want to put CASH (that I have here) into that account..

Oh no..once that bug hits you..it's bad!!!

I personally use my credit card, so I have some protection. I f you want to use cash, and you have an account hooked to the Paypal account, and the choice to use that, and not credit cardyou can just use it, and it will pull it from there.

LOL !! Well there's only ONE item that I'm "bidding up" on - the rest are opening bids that I'm hoping I'll get lucky on.. :)

I don't have - or use - credit cards.. My ex- DH buried us years ago - I didn't approve of them then and I still don't.. Just the way I was raised.. My late father used to say, "Pay as you go - unless you're going for good.." - and that's pretty much how I've lived my life.. Weird, I know - but it works for me.. :)

Anyhow - I have cash here at the house that I wanted to take to the bank and "deposit" somehow.. If I can't deposit it directly into the Paypal debit card thingee then I should put it in the ebay checking acct. I have that is tied into Paypal and then have it transferred??

I know - I'm "dense".. LOL :teeth:

Yes..it will draw it right out of the account.

We make our cc work for us. We have never paid interest, but get perks.

Each year 5% of all our charges (which is everything..groceries, ebay, etc) go toward our next vehicle. We get up to $500 a year this way from GM. When we hit the $500 yearly limit, we switch to the citibank, which gives us 2.5% toward any brand of vehicle (a GM of course). We can save it for 7 years, which gives us $3500 off from the one card, and some from the other. Works perfect and they pay us!!

Lots of credit cards (if you can pay them off each month) can be real budget helpers! If you love Disney and want some extra cash..the Dis card it a good one. If you fly a lot and want miles, there are several to choose from.

If you prefer to just pay cash, that's ok too LOL!

My daughter put her entire Durango on a short term no interest cc..and every six months or so, she switches it to another zero interest card..so she got to take the money off the car (they usually give you a rebate, or cheap financing), and zero financing!

After someone bought something from your auction, when do you leave the feedback for the buyer? Thanks

I used to leave it upon payment but then I ran into a couple buyers that caused a bit of trouble who I would have not left the same feedback. So now I wait until either they leave me feedback or they let me know that they have received the item and all is well.

Wow, this is the never ending thread!! I just wanted to wish everyone a happy, profitable season!! :):)

Stay safe!! :)
Robin pirate:

Happy Thanksgiving! I've been going mad preparing listings for 7-day auctions that will end on turjey day. I just finished relisting just about everything that didn't sell the first, second or maybe even the third time I tried...all in an effort to catch those Thanksgiving day shoppers! I have more new items scheduled to start later this evening.

Good luck to all!

I leave feedback when the auction is completed. If I was leaving it myself..that would be when they rec'd it and all went well. Since I use vrane.com, they leave it in response to when a posi is left for me. Not everyone is happy with that..but that's life...if it was left up to me, I'd never get around to leaving it.
