YEE HAW!!!! Thank you for this thread C.Ann and all who have contributed!
Last weekend I listed 14 items, the most I've had at one time. By tonight (the 14th of Oct) I have sold all but 5 of them. Some of those I attempted for the 3rd time, with no results (2 had reserve prices). To Date (since 8/25/03) my profit is just shy of $150 after all the fees for ebay and PayPal have been deducted. More than 70% of the final bids are in my pocket. Overall I've lost more than $25 (

in under charging for shipping- I under-estimated the weight of a UPS shipment and paid out a refund for breakage, that added to that high rate. I've since purchased a cheap bathroom scale ($6 at
Walmart) and I weighed these last items before shipping, but not before listing. I figured pretty closely to the actual charges before going to the post office. My listed charges weren't too far off as a result of past shipments, knowing what similar weights postage cost.
Also, I finally found a suitable digital camera, at least for ebay purposes - a Vivitar Vivicam 10 at Walmart for less than $50. Until now I've primarily used a flatbed scanner, but it's hard to scan clothes and bulky items. The Vivicam 10 has a flash and takes somewhat decent pictures (640x480 res.), good enough for this purpose. I was holding out for a digicam with all the features I wanted, including an LCD screen, optical zoom and higher resolution for next year's WDW trip, but I won't have any listings if I hold my breath, so I picked this one up to use in the meanwhile. If (when) I get my upgraded camera, I'll either be giving this one to DD or listing it on ebay.
So, now I've shared a succesful week on ebay. Is the buying end of the auctions picking up? It's time to get to work on next week's listings. Maybe I'll download Turbo Lister and get a head start- that's if I can get PC time, as DH is on first shift this week and hogs the PC when he comes home.
Ebay goal #1 - anything extra for WDW 2004,
goal #2 a 2nd home computer.
