Hello to all. I have been trying to get through this thread for days now because my husband wants me to start selling on Ebay. I am only on page 75 (Carole Ann's dog died, I am so sorry!) so I would appreciate it very much if yall would just stop posting for about a week. I think that should do it. Thank you very much.:p

Welcome to our little soap opera, chinamom3.... love your sense of humor! You are kidding, right?!?!?!

Yep, I was. And now I'm on page 77. And now we've added two more posts to the thread. But I've already read 'em, so that's OK! See you in a bit, I'm off to page 77 and taping over labels.(Smooth, no wrinkles.)

Thanks, girl! I am now on page 80 and your solar lights have gone up to $22. Going back now I can't stand the suspense...

From what I understand about paypal is that if you have a personal account they don't allow you to accept credit cards.
That is why I have had the problems, people are paying with a credit card/debit card and I have had to deny the payment. I have at least 5 people who did this in the past 3 days and only 1 has gotten back to me  The one that got back to me was paying with her check/debit card so she thought that she was paying from her checking account, hence why I wondered if there was a change in the pay pal rule regarding payment from a checking account.

I am now on page 85 and all I know is that Robinrs solar lights were at one time up to $26, but don't know what they ended up going for. Also, I am dying to know what Cinlee3 handmakes that CMRick says are so cute. Back to reading...

Ok, I've just listed a ton of my kids old clothes, but then I got to thinking...how am I going to mail these out???? Meaning..where do I find boxes for this stuff?? Priorty boxes aren't big enough for clothes are they??? Is there a way to get the priority boxes delivered to my home, my postmaster snaps at me every time I ask her for one:(
I just would like to figure out the shipping costs!
Thanks!!!

Hi all, Just a quick question about listing... If I write up my listing now can I choose the "time" it ends. I don't mean the date, I know that it will be a 7day auction, but I'm wondering if I type it up right now, can I have it end at night instead of 2pm on the 7th day. Sorry 1 more question, how much is a listing for 10 days?, Is it the same as for 7 or more....Thanks...

Depends on the size of the lot. You can order Priority Boxes (is lots of 25 I think) from the USPS website

I just started selling and on my first auctions received one bid or no bids on my items and not a lot of views. I started the price at the minimum I would be willing to take. Then I took some very old school books I did not think would sell and started them at .99. I received dozens of views and 15 bids on them. I received more then I could have ever hoped for! I was wondering how risky is it to put a very low starting price on items? It seems the items I put at .99 start bidding wars while the items with higher starting prices just sit there and end up with one or no bids. The items are all pretty similar except the ones with only one bid are newer and in better condition.

I think a lot of us would like to know the answer! I was sitting here debating starting all of my auctions at $1.00 (I'll be listing kids clothes, shoes and coats) to see if I do better in the end. BUT I am afraid that someone will win an auction for $1.00!! The killer thing is - I could donate this stuff and get nothing, so why not take the plunge and start everything at $1.00?? Not much help - more to think about!!!;)

Thanks!!!

I managed to squeeze in 4 summer outfits and a pair of sandals one time!!:) I wonder if you could tape two boxes together, if the outfit was bulky? Otherwise, you can use any box if you need to - I used the priority mail tape - that's how I shipped out kids shoes! Good luck with the cranky postmaster - that's why I send my DH to mail the stuff for me!!;)

Thank you so much.......I tried to search for answers but must have missed your previous reply! Sorry!

Anyway...still no book and the auction does not specify how it was sent....I would ask, but NO response to any of my multiple emails.
That bothers me the most!! No replies!

I will try to get contact info and see what is what.

Thank again all!

Boy last weeks sales were a bust I am so disappointed! I had higher than average page views but only one small sale($4 item)
I am bummed~

Out of curiosity, is September a faster selling time or should I plan on things picking up closer to Christmas?

My kids return to school next week so I plan on going on a listing rampage LOL :p

Well....................with the holiday weekend coming and all I hadn't really planned on listing much....

Then they had to come out with that FREE "Buy It Now" - which I rarely - if ever - use... So.......................

Between yesterday and today my ebay page is saying I have 60 auctions running so far! Gee............how did that happen??

I'm trying to stagger everything so that it ends next Tues., Wed., and Thursday..

And yes - I'll be listing more tonight and tomorrow....

Why??????

Because I'm a sucker for the word FREE - LOL!!!

(I do have bids on a couple of things already though..:))
---------------------------------------------

On a more serious note, I'm way off the mark on where I need to be money-wise for my trip.. :( With my van konking out and having to pay for the tow job and parts for repair - and two weeks of absolutely PATHETIC sales - I'm getting real worried now..

I sure hope that people start bidding like crazy again SOON!!!!

I am with you on the pathetic sales. Things NWT are only selling for $2.00. I just figured my budget for our October trip... I am going to be about $600.00. I really don't want to rob peter to pay paul so close to Christmas. Bare minimum, I have to have at least $300.00, but the full 600.00 would make me feel much better (I like having a buffer zone for that last minute must have).

Anyway, I figure I can make at least $100-200 from extra hours at work. So I need ebay to pick up big time. I have about 6 weeks (we leave in alittle over 8) to list and make up the difference.

Good news, a local thrift store (that has the best stuff) has announced they are having a 1/2 price sale Monday. I plan on going. You can always pick up nice clothes (Gap, Ambercrombie, Aeropostale, Carter, Osh Kosh) for $1-2.00 regularly. Being 1/2 off I should be able to pick up some things to resell. I figure a $20-30 investment may pay off to at least double (fingers crossed for better).
