I have a bidder on one of my items that lives in the UK. I clearly stated for non-us bidders to email before bidding for S/H. I just went to the USPS site and found that it will cost about $40 to ship this item to the UK. I am concerned that after the close of the auction (next Saturday) that the person will back out when they find out how much it'll cost to ship. So far they have only made purchases from within the UK. What would you do?

Ugh - don't you wish folks would read? I think I would email the bidder with the info regarding the shipping costs now - at least that way the person will be informed and if they get outbid, can let the item go and not bid again - if that is their choice. If they choose bid retraction, at least you'll have most of the week for other bidders to compete. JMHO - please let us know what happens!

Hi Everyone,
Looking for advice here. Do you have your paypal funds sent directly to your checking or did you get a paypal debit card? I was thinking about the debit card but I wanted to make sure there wasn't any hidden surprises.

Any thoughts??????
Thanks,
Kimba

I love the PayPal Debit card, and particularly the 1.5% cash back. Some people on this thread sweep all the cash into their checking account, others don't, and link to the Debit Card CC# for expense payments.

I was not surprised by any hidden aspects of using the PayPal debit card at all.

I love my Paypal debit card too!!

Some of it gets shipped over to my separate eBay checking account for my eBay fees - and that's where I "hold" my Disney money until I go and take it out of the bank..

Some of it "stays" in the Paypal acct. - and I use the debit card to pay my shipping fees at the Post Office so I get the 1.5% cash back..

Tonight I had a bit more money in there than usual so I used the debit card to buy our tickets for MVMCP.. Pretty neat - saved $18 by ordering them in advance - AND got 1.5% cash back!!

Did I mention I LOOOOOOOVE my Paypal debit card????

LOL ;)

Can anyone give me more info on the Paypal debit card. I know that you have to be a member for 60 days, so I have a little bit longer to wait. However, I would like the details on how it works.

Thanks!!

Also, does anyone use the baconbuttie watch list. If so, has it been working for you lately?? Mine is not. I don't get the daily e-mail anymore with my items being watched.

Mommy Poppins:

Based on the good reviews on the debit card here on this board I orded mine the DAY I was a customer for 60 days! I agree, it's great. The cashback is almost immediate, not at the end of a cycle or the end of the year, I check my account daily and it's so nice to see that "cashback" amount on the account pending. The people at my PO smile when they see it, I think they deal with more eBay customers than anything else.

Just remember to say "credit" instead of debit for the cashback. I do like C.Ann does, I transfer some funds to my bank account and keep a portion on the PayPal debit, mostly for supplies and postal fees. It's a great way to keep up with them.

Also, it's the ONLY debit/credit card that seems to go UP all of the time instead of DOWN! :teeth:

So I apply for the card at my 60 day mark. Then whenever there is money in my paypal account, I can transfer it to the card instead of my bank account? Then I can just use the card as a debit card? Is is strictly a debit card or does it have the VISA/MC logo on it?

I donot accept credit cards to my paypal account, does that matter?

Mine has a Mastercard logo, which is great because my main card has a Visa logo.

You do not have to transfer funds to the card. The card is limited to the amount of money in your Paypal account.

I'm almost sure that you do have to have a premier acct but check the PayPal site for any and all answers to your questions about the debit card.

Howdy,
Is there any charges using the debt card? (ATM,etc.) And does it work just like a bank debt? Does the money come straight out of your paypal account or do you have to transfer money?

Hi dg39... Sounds like you are off to a good start if your photos came out well - that is a big factor! Here is what I do with shipping:

I'm in NH, and I figure the most I'll spend is to ship cross-country. So, I go into USPS Calculate Postage - Click Here for a shortcut - and plug in my zip and 90210 as the destination. Yeah - Bevely Hills - LOL - haven't sent ANYTHING there yet, but at least it gives me a good estimate across country.

Stay confident, dg39 - you sound like you are really on the right track!

LOL I use the same zip. I'm on Long Island, so I figure out what it will be to ship to California then I put a flat fee for shipping on my auctions. Most people now use flat fees.

Also, I only ship larger items via fed-ex ground. It's a lot cheaper than UPS and the USPS. I can ship a 40lb box to Cali for about $25.00, whereas UPS would be almost $40.

I just got my paypal debit card yesterday and I'm excited. Each week I'm going to the Disney Store and getting Disney Dollars with what I have in my paypal account using my debit card.

Right now I have a few things listed, not sure how they are going to sell. I have some toys, winter items and a kids toddler bedding set. I need to go thru more closets and find more stuff though!!!

If you used it to remove funds from an ATM, yes there would be ATM charges. I don't recall what the charge is on the PayPal side, but you'd also pay whatever the specific ATM charges for use.

Yes, the money does come straight out of your PayPal account. You don't have to transfer money, but you can. I've done it in the case where I was paid for auctions by MO, deposited them in my checking account, then moved the funds from the checking account to the PayPal account to earn interest, then earn cash-back when used.

I have never used my PayPal debit card as a debit card - always like a credit card, since that is the only way to get the cashback feature.

That is great - I love earning the cash back when buying disney $$$ - it's like getting a little discount on them... but that adds up! This past weekend DH and I went to the Disney Store and used my PayPal card to buy our PAP vouchers!!!! That was awesome - not only did I get hefty cash back, but it also really sunk in to both of us how effective this "Ebay our way to WDW" has been. No, it wasn't ALL ebay proceeds that covered the PAPs, but a significant portion! And it was all "found money"... rebates, cash back, fat-trimming budget adjustments, gifts, etc.

What a way to go! :teeth:

How long did it take most of you to get your debit card? I ordered mine about a week and a half ago and was just wondering how long to expect to wait.

I was starting to think it was just me! No, I haven't gotten any watchlist info for close to a month now - and I have re-created my script a couple times and readded it to my FrontPage template, too. I finally gave up. I find I'm already obsessive about checking my auctions and one less thing to keep checking is OK with me.

I'm happy to say that I have even forced myself to leave the house when a series of auctions were ending - until recently I had to watch them end, hoping for a last minute bidding war!

Yes, I am exaggerating a little bit - but not too much!

The baconbuttie guy was on vacation a week or so ago and when he came back had found there were problems with the server he had his site on.

Hopefully everything will be back to normal soon. I received my e-mail today with how many "watchers" I have.

I was about to apply to the paypal debt card, but then I read the user agreement which states that you must have I credit card statement mailed to a street address, not a PO Box!

When do you guys send out items when buyers pay with checks? Do you wait a certain number of days? I was going to wait until the "check cleared" thinking I could somehow tell when this moment was. But I just spoke with my bank and they said they can't tell when a check clears. They only know it if it gets sent back for insufficient funds. I guess I never paid attention when cashing checks.

Mine came in a little less than 2 weeks.
