Have any of you Ebayers set up an ebay store? I have about 300 Disney Beanies that I want to sell and I was wondering if an Ebay store would make more sense for something like this. Any experiences with this?

Thanks-
Donna

I've not been successful with an eBay store..which doesn't mean they don't work for everyone..but it didn't work for me. The monthly and listing fees were the only money changing hands..and eBay was getting the money. Maybe I didn't give it enough time.

As far as Beanies..I don't know if the Disney Beanies are different, but most people donate their regular beanies to hospitals to give out to the sick kids. Some people have reported that the sales of the Beanies is less than the cost of the fees : (

I'm sure it has, my mom collected these for my niece who's family moved to a small house and doesn't have room for them. Mom just wants to get rid of them. I was hoping that as disney characters people would want to by them in sets (for example my niece is a huge Little Mermaid fan so she has that set that she loves to play with). They were $6 each and I know I won't get that for them but I am hoping someone will see them as a steal for $3 each or so. I'm just not sure how to go about selling them.

I would list them in sets as you suggested. You may find people going to Disney who are willing to buy them at a reduced price for advanced souvenirs!

I have a buyer that paid me after I left a non-paying bidder, and THEN a negative. As a result of my non-paying bidder alert, she was suspended. Is there any way that I can reverse that for her?

I have had a lot of deadbeats lately-anyone else having this problem???

YES!!! Been Ebaying since 1999, and had 2 NPB in a row!

Seems to me there is a rash of non-paying - or extremely slow paying - bidders lately.. In the past few weeks I have had to file NPB's and request my final value fees on 3 people - and right now I'm trying to drag money out of at least two others.. I'm very lenient with my buyers and don't hassle them right off the bat, but I must say I'm getting a bit annoyed now.. For the first couple of months I was selling on eBay everyone paid so promptly I guess I got spoiled.. I've even seen on the Community Boards at eBay that some long-time sellers are going with ONLY Paypal and nothing else because they're so frustrated over NPB's.. Hopefully when summer is over buyers will become a little more responsible again.. Only time will tell.....

From what I understand about eBay stores is that you need to continue to list regular auctions to drive traffic to your store. What about listing them here on Dis Auctions?

I just dug my post out with no answer. Anybody know? I would really appreciate it.

I want to know how do you charge when you buy on Ebay?

I have a paypal account and when I purchased an item it first took my paypal balance and then the remainder from my secondary account(my credit card) since I did not have enough in my Paypal account.

Here is my question: why can't I not charge the whole amount on Credit Card?

I called paypal and they said they first take money out of my paypal account and then the difference can be charged? HUH?
So I took all my money out of my Paypal Account and deposited it in my checking account leaving a zero balance on Paypal. Then, I charged the whole amount BUT the charge showed as a Paypal withdrawal to my Paypal account AND then it showed a Paypal payment to the Auction I paid on.

Am I still protected by charging because if something were to go wrong and i file a claim then the claim(in case the item is damaged, etc) would be against Paypal not the Ebay Seller right?

Second ?? (talking as a seller)
When I pay for Paypal insurance to cover the item just in case I want to return it or it is damaged, does it come out of the sellers account or from Paypal's Insurance account(if there is one). I mean it doesnt make sense that Paypal charges for Buyer Protection and it comes out of the Seller Account right?

I would really appreciate everyones expert input:confused: :bounce: :bounce:

Sorry - I haven't encountered either of those scenarios. I see that you said you called PayPal, but I wonder if you'd get more info by calling PayPal again with the additional questions? Have you by chance searched PayPal's help system with these questions?

I had a wierd situation a while ago and upon searching their help and then emailing, they responded with the 800 number to call and their hours, and I was able to speak with a live person who fixed me right up. :)

Good luck, I hope you get your answers!

I don't know the answer to your question. I have my account set in my pref's to take from my charge card, and I never leave anything in my account, so they wouldn't be able to take from it.

I believe I had read that the insurance comes from Paypal.

Hi,

thank you!!

Dmrick, When you set your preference to Credit card for your purchases, does it show at a paypal withdrawal on your charge card?

I am wondering because lets say if something goes wrong with the item, then I am disputing Paypal not the seller Right?

Oh this is just too confusing!! But I think It sounds like I am not purchasing directly with the seller but paypal is doing it for me.:bounce:

It's a paypal payment. And if something went wrong, while waitinf for Paypal to fix it (if they would), I would just have my cc company cease payment to Paypal.

I mentioned an NPB and asked earlier if my 3 requests for final value fee refunds would get the one person suspended (you may recall)... Last night I requested the final value fees and put a block on this bidder.

Tonight I get this:

Hi
I wanted to finally take care of your auction that I forgot about but without an auction number Paypal will not let me close out , could you Please give me numbers to put in the space , because I let this auction go for SO LONG I cannot call it up in my Ebay account , Thank you Very Much ...... Linda
I will check my email every hour tonight and will pay as soon as I get it
Thanks Again
End Quote

My questions:
1 - is it really true that without an auction number, paypal will not take her payment?
2 - I sent her the links to the 3 auctions and suggested that she could use the PayPal buttons within them to submit payment. Will my blocking her interfere with this, or does it ONLY block future bids from her?

Thanks in advance, and I'll report back on whether or not she actually pays.

I was dying to say that after I received payment I'd mail the items in a month or so. But I didn't.

Interesting - and all too familiar scenario.. :( I had someone win my auction on JUNE 27th.. I sent invoices, reminders, emails thru eBay, emails on my own, requested contact info from eBay, and got NO response from this bidder at all (other than the receipt I can get from AOL indicating that he DID receive and read my emails.. I finally filed the NPB and requested my final value fees
and guess what I got in the mail today? A money order from him.. Well - well.. So nice of him to finally pay.. Did I rush out to mail his item? Nope.. Am I rushing around tonight getting it ready to go tomorrow? Nope.. When WILL I mail it? Right under the wire for eBay rules and regulations..

As for your questions - I don't have the answers but would like to know myself as I have filed NPB's, requested final value fees, and blocked several bidders myself.. Anyone else know the answer?

I won't requote my earlier stuff or this post will be longer than I am tall.

After 34 days, my NPB paid. Here is her email:

Hi Joy ,
Payment was just made to Paypal. I really am So sorry for not taking care of your auction . I am sure that I have caused you much hassle for my neglect .I am new to Ebay and I did not know to look up the auctions they way you explained . Thanks
Again I am sorry and Thank You ............... Linda

This was my reply:

Linda,
I received your payment and I appreciate your making it, even after all this time. I realize that there is more to life than ebay, and I also understand that you were a new buyer, as you mentioned. Yes, I wasted some time on this, but it wasn’t the end of the world, and at least you made good in the end. So, I appreciate your apology, I accept it and don’t worry about it.
I’d like to share some info with you, not to make you feel bad, but to make you aware of how other buyers may have handled this.
After filing for my final value fees, I could have (some would say “should have”) left you negative feedback. Something held me back from that, and I am glad that I didn’t. I have chosen not to leave feedback for you at all. I can’t in good conscience leave a positive (you didn’t meet my Terms of Service – payment within 7 days), and I just don’t want to be associated with anything negative. But be aware that in the same situation, many other sellers would and will do so, and you really shouldn’t repeat this in the future.
Also, I mentioned in my earlier message tonight that I had relisted the pins, and that if I got your payment I would cancel the relisted auctions. Well, I did so, thinking that by cancelling I’d get my auction fees back. Well, not so. Another $1.80 has been spent on relisting these 3 pins, which I will not recover. It is not a terribly expensive lesson, but I sure won’t repeat it in the future. And other sellers who are more experienced than I will avoid this sort of expense, so there is another reason you’ll want to avoid repeating this again.
So, I’ve preached enough, and I’m done :) . I hope you enjoy the pins… I had a great time at the Parti Gras pin event, and just looking at these pins makes me smile. I still have a set of my own to enjoy, too.
It’s a little late to pack them up tonight, so I’ll get them out in the mail on Friday morning.
Thank you,
Joy

You know what? I feel really good about this. I got paid, I have closure, and I learned what it costs to end an auction early. It would have REALLY bothered me to leave her negatives. Maybe most of you will think I'm nuts, but on the other hand maybe she'll go do something a little extra nice for someone else.
I sure hope so.

thank you for educating me :)

it is truly truly appreciated.

If it's only been a day or so, write to eBay. They have always returend my listing fees in these type of instances (all two of them LOL)!
