Hey gang! Well I'm up here in the mointains - at the lake - fightingthe urge to hop in the car and go home.. You see....I "garage-saled" my way up here on Friday - and then went to a town about 15 miles from here yesterday - and what can I say? When you can pick up saleable items for 25 cents at the MOST and 10 cent items at the LEAST - how can you pass up bargains like that - even when you have 35 years worth of stuff sitting in your house????????

Now - I'm SOOOO anxious to get home and list this stuff.. AND - lots of garage sales are closing today and you all know what that means right? Rock bottom prices or FREE stuff!

Help! What should I do? Wasn't really planning on going home till tomorrow.. My grown DD is getting VERY aggravated with me - says ALL I think about anymore is eBay.. Well - I can't disagree with her there - LOL.. They're not here now - had to go home for a christening - and "might" come back for the afternoon but my bet is on them NOT coming..

Now - on to two other subjects...

If I respond to my buyers from up here (send them their invoices by going through my eBay page) is it going to show the ISP address from HERE or the AOL I have at home? Don't want to confuse them and have them respond HERE when I won't BE here again until Wednesday or Thursday..

Also - (and I've asked this before) - what are you all going to do about the 4th of July weekend? Should I list on Monday - to close the following Monday (doesn't seem to me a lot of folks would jump right on the computer when they get home Sunday night) - or go Tuesday to Tuesday?

Oh - and one more thing.. Those "last minute bidders" nearly gave me a nervous breakdown!! NOTHING was happening and then the bids came in at the very, very end.. Someone please tell me this is a slow-period trend and will go away when sales pick up again????

I was getting really excited as one of my auctions was going up and up to much more than I imagined. I started it at £3.99, (i didn't even think it would sell), and it was up for £11.99 at one point and then......................

ADMINISTRATIVE CANCELLATION!

About two hours before it ended AND because it was the same two people bidding against each other it went for £3.99.

Anyway, on a lighter note, i went and made another payment on my holiday today, half of which was made using ebay money. YAAAAAAAYYYY!

Oh, and one last thing, is anyone else having a problem with this ebay thing. I have discovered a new way to sell, and am making pots of money, BUT, I've also discovered a new way to buy and i keep spending it. I keep finding all these bargains, that i just have to have!!!!!

Anyway, in my two weeks of ebaying, I've made about £200 pounds!! £100 I re spent on ebay, but i still used the other £100 to pay some off my holiday. That's not too bad cause if I hadn't been ebaying i wouldn't have had the extra £'s to spend on myself or our holiday. Now, i just need to learn a little bit of self discipline and STOP SPENDING!!!!

As far as the 4th of July...I would wait to have the auctions end at least on Tuesday. I have to hold off on listing with an upcoming mini-vacation....don't want to be unavailable for questions!! It's driving me crazy - I want to list again!!

Maybe start taking your digital camera with you to the lake and take your pics there. I bet you could find a cheap memory card on Ebay if you dont have a very big one. And you could write up your descriptions on word then just cut and paste into the listings when you get home. Then you'll be there when the kiddos are.

Shouldnt it just give them the email you registered with Ebay? It shouldnt show them your ISP. And if you mean your usual provider has email then you should be able to still get that email when you're traveling. Ours has a link on the homepage to use when we're traveling so we can still check our email.

I'm not listing again until July 12th. I know there are tons of people around here (I live in a lakes area so we have tons of "lakers" in the summer) take their vacations the week starting the 4th so that whole week many people around here are on vacation.

LOL ahhhh well not sure about that but Ebay and all related sites even the Sniper bid sites have really been played up in the media this spring so I wouldnt count on anything.

Immediately move your just earned money someplace you cant spend it!!! Buy Disney Dollars, use a different kind of bank account....maybe a vacation account or just a savings account that you cant access easily.

C.Ann - just go to www.aol.com and you can read and send mail from there from your AOL account.

I'm not listing till after the 4th of July. I figure most people will be away or just out enjoying the newly warm weather (at least here in the East).

June/July are notoriously slow times - people are out enjoying the summer! All though it depends on what you're selling I think. I made over $400 this week selling off my old darkroom equipment. I never expected it to go for that much. I just wanted it out of the house! Our computer room looks like a bomb hit it because I'm packing and packing and packing and packing boxes to ship. I love it, DH just laughs. But when I told him how much I made - he stopped laughing! LOL

Oh, side note - I asked a while back about mailing records - that link I posted about using priority boxes to do it worked great! It took a little cutting, a lot of tape and some patience, but they're pretty sturdy and ready to mail!

LOL I hear ya! I just recently discovered the Disney Italian charm bracelets and I keep telling myself that the $ I'm making is for our trip. I've been *really* good so far and I've only bought one - and it's a Christmas gift for someone (I shop for the holidays all year long when I find deals)! I opened up a bank account at ING and move my eBay $ there. I don't have an ATM card for it and it takes 3-4 days to have it transferred back into my regular checking, so I'm less tempted to spend it!

Well - I've decided to stay here until tomorrow morning.. I needed to go out to the General Store for something and well...I...ummm...er...kind of got "lost" and started drivng over to a small town 15 miles in the opposite direction for the store...and..ummm...there were these yards sales...and...ah...25 cents for Fisher Price doll houses certainly seemed dirt cheap...and well...there were these old advertising items for like 25 cents..and ah...

Shucks!! I blew it!!! Bought more stuff... But gee - it was just SCREAMING "EBAY" and the sound was deafening - so it was kind of self-defense.. Yeah - that's it....self-defense!!!! LOL

Hate to say it, but with the prices I've been running across since Friday I think I'm going to HAVE to make a habit of doing the garage sale thing every weekend.. I just can't let those things get past me when I know I can make money off of them..

I now have 9 bids. OMG. Who would've thought. I have many that end tomorrow, so I wanted to repost a question I left earlier. If anyone knows the answer please let me know so I can calm down.

I have many videos up for bid and I added that I would combine shipping if the winner bought more than one video. (I cheated by looking at other's listings). So, how do I do this? Does Ebay just end the auctions at the winning price and then I manually add the extra 1.00 per video? Does the winner know to add it or do I send an email confirmation invoice with the extra charge?

Does anyone know if there are different shipping costs to ship something to an APO address? I need to know before I contact my buyer. I've never had an APO buyer before, and I can't find a chart on the USPS website. I'm sure I must be overlooking it. Thanks in advance.

I am new around here but I can answer this one for you It doesn't cost anymore to ship to an APO but you do have to fill out a customs slip, basically listing the contents and value. HTH

Just wanted to let everyone know something that has worked for me in getting my bids up a little bit. If you have can work the word BONUS into your listing title, and add a little something extra that goes with what you're selling if the item reaches a certain bid amount, it seems to work really well. I have an item that I put up about every other week that normally sells for between $15 and $20. Well, this week I decided to add the BONUS to it and it sold for $41 AND I already sold another to a 2nd chance bidder for $40. The extra I'm doing didn't cost more than $2 or $3, so that's a great enhancement to my profit. Don't know if it'll help anybody, but I hope it does.

I have to agree, but I did it a little differently.

I had my sons older soccer shoes, and I included his outgrown shin guards as well. The "set" suddenly became more valuable than just a pair of cleats, if you know what I mean. That "set" I made out well, even better than paying the original retail price for BOTH the shoes and the shin guards.


Its a very interesting thing really!

Guess it's my turn to have problems with a few winners of my auctions and I need some guidance here..

#1 - Bidder of one auction lives in Puerto Rico and I CLEARLY stated I only ship within the United States. I received a notice stating she paid by "other" so I'm assuming she has already mailed some form of payment so I'd have no choice but to mail the goods.. I charge very low shipping and handling and I'm afraid the amount wouldn't even cover the postage. The package would weigh between 2 and 3 lbs.

#2 - Another winner is trying to pay me by Papal, when she clicks the "Pay Now" button the only options she is getting is "other".. I have Paypal for all of my auctions so I don't understand and don't know how to tell her to remedy the situation.

#Another wiiner won more than 1 item and would like me to combine shipping. As I said earlier, I don't charge much - usually just the weight of the item and the shipping materials. How much should I knock off?

Geez... It's not even 9 o'clock in the morning yet and I already have a headache.. Guess I've been spoiled by all of my previous transactions that have gone so smoothly...
