Well, i haven't been able to get on the site for about four days. I noticed that some other people had had problems too, but i was surprised to see there was four new pages to read when i eventually got on here. I would have thought everyone would have had the same problem.

Anyway, my first five auctions ended in the last two days and all of them sold, (some of them for double what i thought.) I have recieved one cheque but payment on the others i am expecting tomorrow.

However, I clearly wrote in the payment instrutions that i accepted paypal transfer NOT credit cards, (in great, big capital letters.) AND, i also followed it up with and e mail saying the same thing. But what did i come home to today? An email saying someone had payed me by credit card!!!!!!!! Do some people just not read??? Anyway, this was my first payment through paypal and i don't want to pay any charges so I denied the payment. I then sent an email explaining why i had denied it and that he would have to re pay through paypal (using a transfer from his bank a/c or his paypal a/c) or he would have to send me a cheque. Was this the correct way to do it ? I understand that if i had accepted it, I would have been charged from now on???

Anyway, i've been having withdrawal symptoms from this thread!!;)

Korbs,

You handled that fine, some people do not bother with the fine print!

You can go into your Paypal account and change it so that if someone pays you with a CC it automatically denies it or you can change it to "ask you first" and then you have the choice to accept it or send it back.

How do I take a photo of a poster? My little cheapy $30 camera doesn't have any sort of lens adjustment, zoom, etc.; and I can't see the whole poster through the lens of the camera..

And - if I have to hang it up on the wall or something and stand way back, how do I hang it on the wall without leaving tape marks or tack marks on it?

Really want to get this listed today..

Thanks!

I definately had those problems. There was a technical explanation posted over on the DVC board, and it was a bit over my head, but it impacted people differently depending upon how they access the boards

Hooray - Good for you! It's so gratifying when that happens!

I've had success setting things on the floor of my living room with lots of sunlight shining in... perhaps you could weight the corners down with paperweights or clean rocks to avoind pinholes... good luck with that!

I would not list for your brother in law for 10%. Even if it is higher dollar items, you will lose out after expenses unless it would be 10% plus expenses then that my be different (only on high dollar items). I list for a guy that used to do estates sales and now has a whole warehouse of junk (aka collectibles) and I get 35% and pay my expenses but he also takes care of all of the shipping. Now most of the stuff I sell goes for under $30.00 but I sell enough volume where I clear about $250 - $300 a month after expneses to go towards my Disney Trip in November. In fact I am going to be listing a 1931 Mickey Mouse coloring book this weekend that is pretty amazing.

BTW, this is a great thread.

Patrick

I agree, I don't think 10% is enough. His wife would handle all the shipping. We still have to work through it, but it is nice to see what others get. My Dad said he would give me 1/2 for some of his stuff when I talked to him today.

Yes, they were generous with 1/2. I split the fees with them so we really all get 1/2. I just sent my sister a check for $132 and my dad just got one for $230 from the trains. I got the other 1/2 so I am very happy. I would think 10% is a bit low if it is a lot of small items.

DON'T DO IT !!!!!!!!!!! Forward these emails to eBay immediately!! Do NOT give out your password and bank info in response to these types of emails EVER !!!! Please go to the eBay Community Board and read about SCAMS!!

The scams are coming fast and furiously lately.. When you check out the people posting on the Community Board you will see what I mean..

I sure I hope I got to you soon enough...:(

C.Ann.... No, I have NOT responded to this email because they want too much info!!!!!

How in the world do I forward it to ebay??? What address do I use???

Thanks!

YOu don't even have to bother to forward it..they know about it : (

You should prob not even click on the links, once you see someone is asking for your info. That last trojan was actually spread from html and cookies in url's (the stupid porno one I got to enjoy for a day).
eBay will never, ever ask for your pasword. I'm sure the paypal one will soon follow..they seem to run in groups.

How do you handle this one. I used a DC on a package that was sent out on 6/12. The P.O. shows delivery was attempted on 6/14 and the package was returned to the P.O. The person still has not picked up the package. What if the package is returned to me? This person has not responded to any of my emails. I am still hoping she will claim the package but if not what do I do?

I am soooo mad!

I had a listing removed because WW says you can't sell it. Ok, I don't have a problem with that. I understand the rules. HOWEVER, someone is selling the exact same thing. I am ticked off that mine was removed and not theirs. Vero did it, and I am just frustrated that they did not do it fairly that someone else can sell the same item. I did email ebay about it. But I just got a form letter back. I am just mad that the rules don't apply fairly accross the board to everyone.

This was only my second listing, so it has made me very nervous/concerned to list any more things.:(

WW said you couldn't sell it? What is WW?

If it was a VERO afiliate that found it with their software, they should have found the name in the other person's auction as well, as that sweeps once a day. Did you have the same name in teh title as the other auction?

If it was reported by someone else because of keyword spamming, or any other reason, then the other item wouldn't be removed unless that was also reported. eBat doesn't go looking for stuff to remove..they go by someone reporting, or the company that owns the copyright/Trademark using their search software.

Okay....here's a question for you..

I have a collectable toy that I am going to list.. However, this toy ties in with another collectable category as well.. If I list it only under the first category (let's say "airplanes") but give the full name of it in my title (let's say "Budweiser") would it come up in the search under both categories - or do I actually have to LIST it in two categories?

Hope that made sense! LOL

WW is Weight Watchers. Both titles had Weight Watchers in their title. Mine was a little differently worded, but same stuff. Does the software just sweep through the titles?

CAnn..I never look at categories...just searches. If someone is looking just under the beer category if that is where you listed it..they won't find it under the airplane category..unless they do a general seach.

Princess..it sweeps through the whole thing..I'd have to actually see what you were selling and the title and write up to figure out why you got picked on...
but if it helps..here is weight watchers rules on what can be sold:

http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/legal@weight-watchers.com

and it is possible that you got too much for the competition (or they were agravated that you had the same thing up..or they may have permission and you don't..who knows) and they reported you...WW may not have even picked it up on their vero software. Did the note refer you to WW? If it's vero they would have.
