Does anyone have any suggestions for selling music CD's? I was going through my DH's stash(he's at work:) ) and was wondering whats the best way to sell them half.com, eBay, any other way?
This thread is very addicting. I now want to quit my job:eek: to sell everything and anything on eBay:) .
Thanks for the help.

I use Half.com for cds, video games and books. It's so easy.

I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on how to sell my items.

I am thinking about selling my children's crib sets on E-bay. They look like brand new and I am sure I could make more than at my local consignment shop (now only paying 40%).

Question - should I include everything as a package, or split out the items that I bought separately.

For example: I have the Serendipity Noah's Ark set from my DD (4). I have comforter, bumper pad, headboard bumper, sheet, dust ruffle that all came as set. In addition, I have window valance, lamp, mobile and changing table insert (may have more have to look and think).

Would it be better to just put bedding together and then sell others separately, or should I just lump it all together for ease and convenience?

Thanks for your help.

Is anyone else having problems listing tonight? I use Turbolister and can't seem to get anything to list tonight:mad: I keep getting a network problems are preventing turbolister from uploading:confused: . I usually list on Sun and Thurs nights looks like this week I'll only be listing on Sun.
Any idea's??
Thanks

Hmmmmm.. This thread has gotten AWFULLY quiet.. Where are all my students? In case you didn't realize it when you signed up for this "class", there are NO "summer vacations" !!!!

If you want to get to Disney before the end of 2003, it's work, work, work.. Get that stuff listed! Raid Grandma's attic.. Go through the kids toy chest while they're out playing or in school.. Convince your DH that he needs to give up one of his "collections".. Unload the baby stuff - you KNOW you're not going to have anymore kids, right? I mean geez - the "baby" is in college!! Ask your Mom what she did with all your "stuff" from when you were a kid.. Go "curbside shopping".. Hit the garage sales bright and early - never know what you might find out there!

Come on gang - there's ONLY 7 months till the end of 2003!!!!!!!!!!!

C.Ann you are too funny!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc . And now back to the class. I had 3 auctions up last night and all of them sold and I've recieved payment for all but 1 YIPEE!!!! I have 4 up on Sun and was finally able to list 3 more last night. I'm such a dunce my problem with Turbo Lister was because I changed my eBay password and forgot to change it in Turbo Lister:o duh!! All of my eBay money was going to my disney trip however I decided to stop babysitting my sisters children so now all of my eBay money is going to have to help pay the bills:eek: . O'well with all of the extra time I should be able to go to garage sales and more auctions to find stuff to sell:bounce: :Pinkbounc .

disneyeveryyear, I would list all of the bedding set together and everything else seperately and say in your listing that you also have more pieces to the set in your other auctions.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Janelle,

It seemed that is how most were doing it.

Now I just need to read tutorial on how to get started. My DH has a digital camera at work, but not sure how I could download it here. Maybe download to e-mail and send it to myself. I'll have to see how that works.

Have a great weekend.

say in your listing that you also have more pieces to the set in your other auctions.

Although if you are selling sheet sets, you can mention you have matching items...but you can't say what they are..like you can't say I have a hamper to match on another auciton. That would be keyword spamming.

Hi, Teacher! I did REEEEEAL good last night! :bounce: I also put up some more things to end next Thursday AND Sunday... not bad doing all this from Orlando on my laptop!

Cha ching!!!!!! $$$$$$$ Just got back from the bank - where I cashed a nice little fistfull of money orders.. Another leg of my journey covered - LOL..

I have to say my auctions aren't doing well at ALL right now though.. But - they either have 4+ or 6+ days left on them and I KNOW that everyone is going to wait until the last day to bid.. That's how mine have been ending for about three weeks now..

I probably should have hit some garage sales today (have a few things in mind to look for that I know will sell) but on the other hand, I should be getting rid of all the junk I have HERE first!!!!

I'm Going To Disney In December !!!!!!!!!

I see there's already a ton of those Disney store towels listed. I thought about buying a bunch, but I'm just starting a new budget and I'm determined not to cheat. I bet they would sell this fall when people start looking for Christmas gifts.

I've got a bunch of stuff listed which ends Sunday. It's a hodgepodge really and it's interesting to see what's selling and what isn't. I may take June off (sorry C.Ann!) because it's pretty slow and I have a feeling my FT job will be making me crazy. I do need to get back to my Mom's and clean out more of my junk and see what else I can sell, so I think that'll be my June project. My eBay goal is to pay for as much of our May 2004 trip as possible, so I've got some time.

Re: keyword spamming

True, but you can always mention what else you have up for auction via links, and if anyone inquires via "ask seller a question" you can tell them whatever you like.

I have 15 items up and already five have requests to terminate. It's becoming an epidemic.

Here's my take on it.

It's the eBay buyer's revolt. eBay used to be a garage sale. The vast majority of sellers were like CAnn. New, fresh, and just wanted some extra cash to clean out their basement/attic. About 4 years ago it started to become dominated by B&M/retail/Internet businesses trying to raise some extra cash. This morphed into pure eBay businesses. Now these businesses dominate eBay, at least as measured by revenue (i.e. PS). It's not a garage sale anymore, and hasn't been for a long time. There is still, and probably always will be, an opportunity for the "CAnn classes" to learn how to sell on eBay and make some spare change selling off their excess household inventory, but unless you own a museum, that is a finite resource. There is only so much stuff you can sell off before it's gone. So the seller dominates over the long haul.

Now buyers feel that they are at a disadvantage. Which they are. So in order to take a little of the edge back, they play a different game, by essentially using eBay as a referral service for free. And it's working. IMO this practice will only increase.

I've always said that eBay will eventually regret neglecting the small time seller for the businesses. We shall see.

Best of luck to everyone selling for a profitable weekend.

What happens if I have already done this? From reading Ebay's description, I guess I wouldn't have considered it keyword spamming to mention a specific matching item. Their example lists a number of completely unrelated items. I have two auctions for the matching items I have, one didn't have bids so I changed it to say something non-specific "see my other auctions for matching item". Is that okay? But I can't change the one that has a bid, can I? What will happen to me now? I think I may have done this in the past also.

So, I really can't say anything other than, see my other auctions for similar items? Basically I can't identify the other items at all?

I really did try and read over Ebay's policies and follow them. Now I'm starting to wonder what other rules I may be breaking without knowing it.

You'll usually just get a warning from eBay the first time, and only if someone reports you. If someone at eBay is on a power trip, they can cancel your auction..but usually, unless it's a really big time spamming, you'll get the warning. I've been mentioning my matching item for the past two years, and until this week, it didn't seem to be a problem. But some nosy person with a boring life reported me this week, so I changed all the auctions I could (ones that didn't have bids yet). I have to say I knew better, so I have no one to blame but myself. You can put in a link from here, that will point people to your other auction..and you can change the scrip on the end ot read..to see matching items.
Don't worry about it...now you know.

Checking into class!!

I have a few things up that end either Sunday or Monday, and two have bids on them, but several have been viewed many times. Seems like everyone is waiting until the last minute to bid.

I wonder if this is the trend for auctions that end during the week, say during the middle of the day. If people are at work, they may bid ahead of time so as not to loose a chance?
