I disagree on the FB thing- it's important to leave feedback regardless of fear of retaliatory feedback.
We'll have to agree to disagree. I seldom look at another person's feedback when buying..and even when I do, it doesn't sway me that much unless it's really bad. Everyone has problems and stuff that may go wrong and they may end up with a few negs. Even when people tell me their feedback is retaliatory, how do I know to believe them? There is no way to really know who is in the wrong, and there are two sides to every feedback story.
Why ruin my own feedback, when really..most people who don't pay, are newbies..they can easily move on, and take on a new name..while I still have to keep mine, because all my past repeat clients look for my name (by the way..one of my feedbacks..the neutral is because the guy didn't like the box I shipped in..he commented he liked the item..but didn't like the box because it said Kmart..how stupid is that?). My one and only neg, was given in retaliation to my giving a person (who has never used that name again) a neg..because someone on the eBay board told me it was my duty LOL! Wrong..my duty is to my business and myself (selfish as it may sound).
My business is what is important to me, and while it may sound harsh...making it easier on the next seller isn't all that important to me, since the eBay feedback system is really not a good system, and it really doesn't help buyers know for sure, without a lot of looking around to see if they are retailiatory, if the seller is bad, and who has that kind of time. People who DON'T pay, can leave feedback, and move on. Nope..until eBay changed their feedback system, I'll just report them by filing for my fees back. A few of those reports and the people are gone..so the buyers don't have to worry if their feedback is good or not. It's much much more important to file for your fees back..that's when eBay takes action.
If C. Ann leaves a negative with her small amount of feedback she has as a newbie, she is the one who has to stare at that retailiatory..and it just isn't worth it.
Of course the choice is yours (as in everybody, not you in particular). But leave the neg if you decide bright red negs don't bother you..but most important..report them and get your fees back..that's what counts.
