Okay, I spent the early afternoon putting some things up for sale in 10 days when I get back then went to get my son. On the way out my DARLING UPS guy, he's soooo cute, came with my BOXES!!! WOW! Those boxes are awesome! and they are perfect for books and videos, which are the majority of my things! WOW!

Then:

When I get back I have some Disney videos that end today and got 8 bids on it! I checked my email and I got a Paypal payment from a lady who won my Vermont Teddy Bear. This was a silly bear I got while at the radio station which fetched me $27 dollars!

My cookbooks are up to $20.50, also promotional items! This is pure profit! WooHOOOOO! They still have an hour to go.

Well, getting my feet wet this week has been an experience. When I get back I'm jumping straight into the deep end!:teeth:

Good evening, class!!

Well it sounds like some of you are doing quite well with your ending auctions this week - that's great!!

I finally got bids on two of my items, but 4 ended with no bids so I'll have to relist them later this weekend or early next week..

I still haven't decided what I'm gong to do about listing - maybe I'll take the things I'm not too fussy about and pay the ten cents extra to have them start on Sunday (if I'm not going to be home).. Right now my weekend plans are still up in the air.. The weather is supposed to be rainy - but there's a chance of some sunshine on Sunday, so I may head up to our lake house tomorrow.. Never fear though - I can still get to this DIS on my old computer that I will take up to the lake with me and leave there for the summer.. :)

-----------------

About the check question - the answers provided here are good ones.. It's totally up to you if you want to accept it or not.. To prevent this in the future you might try typing in bright RED CAPITAL letters - at the end of your description of the item (as well as in the payment section) - NO PERSONAL CHECKS PLEASE!!!

A while back I posted my note to my nonpaying bidder, after wrestling with myself, knowing she was a first time bidder who had no clue you can't just walk away.

She was very grateful I didn't nuke her; hadn't read any of the fine print (on my auction which involved a security tag TDS had not taken off the Awesome Belle Costume) or on ebay policies. I subsequently ran into a woman who was working customer service at our local Bonton, who happened to have heard me preach at one of our local pby churches, had resonated with my description of the family tradtion of putting up the Christmas tree (let's not put this thing up the rest of the way, let's just get a divorce instead) and ran into the back room, fished out this antique security tag remover, and got it off.

So the first time bidder is getting her dress without the tag, I'm getting my money without eating any fees, and nobody gets a negative feedback. Almost as good as an episode of Malcolm in the Middle.

erinch, I don't watch Malcolm in the Middle, but maybe I should because I enjoyed your story! I think you certainly handled the buyer very kindly, and I'm glad things worked out for you!

CAnn..Why not spend the extra .10 by extending your auctions to 10 days instead? Then they'll be there on Sunday already.
I did decide to put up mine tonight (the regular stuff, not the tools and antiques, etc). It's against my better judgement..but I can't stand seeing nothing under my name LOL.

I'm sure this has been covered, but I can't find it looking back through the thread. I just got a bid on 2 exercise videos I had listed and I would like to ship them Media Mail. Can anyone tell me how to go about it. Does it have to be packaged differently? Do I just take it to the PO and tell them Media Mail? Sorry to be so clueless about this, but it is my first time selling videos....Thanks once again! Susan

Just take it to the post office in plain packaging (not priority) and tell them media mail! It is significantly cheaper, but it takes quite a bit longer to get to its destination.

Susan,

You can pack it in a plain box or bubble mailer- Anything as long as it isn't a Priority mail box.
Mark the box MEDIA MAIL somewhere near the address. (I usually put it to the bottom left.) When you take it to the counter at the Post office, make sure you tell the clerk it's going Media Mail. Sometimes they don't take notice of the words. That's all you have to do!
If you have a scale at home, you can go to www.usps.com and see the rates for Media mail so you'll have an idea of how much the package should cost to ship and will be able to question the clerk if they give you a high $ amount. Sometimes they put it in as Parcel post by accident.

I sell books and videos all the time- gotta love Media mail!

Closed three auctions today, made $81 dollars!!!

Now that should feed us well at least twice in Orlando next week! :teeth:

And get this, I know have a repeat buyer! One of the ladies who purchased from me has a bid on something I put up today for 10 days! Gotta love her!

Okay, here comes my Chump mode... a lady bought my five Disney videos. She asked me to tell her when would I be shipping it because her 7yo daughter LOVES to get packages. I am such a CHUMP. I was going to send it media mail but tomorrow I'm going to check on a faster way, even if it costs me. I've made enough off stuff I never spent a red cent on anyway... AND I asked her to tell me what her favorite character is because I'll be at Disney next week and I'd like to sent her a souvenir...

I am such a chump for little kids!!! :teeth:

I have one closing tomorrow and the rest for next Sunday. I'm putting up three more things tonight. I'm looking forward to having money waiting for me when I return!

I'll be online while I'm gone to keep up with you guys! This is sooooo addictive!

Believe me when I say you'll outgrow doing this type of stuff LOL! I hope you at least get a thank you.

Okay guys, feeling really dumb here. I wanted to get boxes for priority mail shipped to me. Could have sworn I heard you could do that, but I have been on the USPS site for forever and I am only finding info on Express mail supplies. WHERE is it??? Please help, I have a bunch of stamp sets that I am going to be listing and want to have everything ready to go.

I will actually be setting them up to start on June 1 even though I will be setting them up tomorrow night. We will be at Disney next week--yeah!!!!--and I want to get them started right as we will be returning. That way, I can restock my extra cash account!! Decided it was worth the extra 10 cents to have them going immediately upon our return.

Meantime--where can I get those boxes? I have to ship two items tomorrow--by the way my 4 auctions this week closed at a total of $163! Woo hoo!--so I can pick up the envelopes, but I'd really like the free boxes.

Big Yikes!!! Hotmail sent one of my Payment Sent emails from a buyer into my Junk Mail folder. Just glad I recognized the buyers name before I deleted everything.

Nope, I never outgrow giving, it's my nature!

I've had a home business for years now and I still work hard to overdo for my clients. I've found it gives me blessings from beyond since I never look for it from humans. :teeth:

BTW she wrote me and just gushed about the suggestion and I gave her a link to the DIS. She sounded just like a DISer so I know she'll fit in here.

I have finally taken the plunge! I wish I could read every post in this thread to really know what I am doing. I listed 2 items that will end this weekend and they are already over $100 total! I am so exited to add money to the "fund" as we are doing an extra trip at the end of June that we are trying to swing at $500 out of pocket cost for the week.

WhooHOOO! AlRIGHT, Charlene!!

I was the same way. Someone linked me here from one of my boards and I studied and studied and now I'm hooked! I can't believe I can make money off my JUNK!

It's so much fun, and this thread has given me more information than the entire EBAY site!

And believe me I would've NEVER, and I mean NEVER tried this if C.Ann had not posted this. Never....

You guys are getting me so excited about this!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc Do you think I can swing some extra money to go to Myrtle Beach in addition to our Disney land/sea vacation in December??? ;) A wonderful fellow DISer has offered for her sister to help me price my Barbie collection, and I just can't wait to get started!!! :p

That link worked. Don't know what my trouble was yesterday, but I have now ordered my boxes, tape and stickers. The envelopes I will pick up today, so I am set.

Well, then that will be a great thing for your buyers! While I like to think we "overdo" for our clients (we have a home business as well), I have to admit I don't for the people on ebay..just can't afford it...my items aren't that high priced to cover the costs. They do get everything wrapped as if I was buying it myself, and of course each item is created as if it were going out to a member of my family..but I do draw the line at buying disney souveniers for people I don't know LOL!!

Lucky me..the blessings still come!
