You Get a Suite! You Get a Suite! Everybody Gets a Suite! December 2023 Trip Report! (RL Update 10/6!!)

I think we have similar travel dates and I'm anxiously watching the weather as well. I have been hearing them talk about a possible system developing and I'm trying not to freak out yet. Fingers crossed it turns out to be nothing, and you feel better soon!!

Glad to hear your mom was able to get DAS! I was so scared to call for my daughter. She has high functioning ASD and I was so afraid she would get denied! May have helped she had a meltdown while I was on the phone with them when I called her in to have her photo taken :rotfl2:. My son has CP so I also get his stroller tagged as a wheelchair. He can finally walk, but does not have the stamina to go all day.

Yeah, it's looking more and more like something is forming in the gulf, but hopefully it never does and our trips aren't impacted! And thank you!

Thanks! She is so relieved she got it, she was also really scared to call. I'm glad your daughter got it as well!

Hello everyone! My goodness, less than a week until Disney! Eek! I'm so excited, yet also a bit worried. That stomach thing I mentioned last week has not gone away, ugh. I've been to multiple doctors now and no one can figure out what's going on, but fortunately I was able to snag a GI doctor appointment for Monday, so hopefully a specialist will be able to figure this out. I feel very lucky I was able to get this, they were booked out through December, but just had a cancellation come in when I called and I got it, phew!

Definitely puts a damper on going to Disney for Food and Wine when I can't enjoy food! If this is still going on at the end of the week we'll likely end up cancelling our Victoria and Alberts dinner too since I can hardly eat right now which makes me so sad. What horrific timing for this stupid thing to start! Like it couldn't wait until we got back from the trip?!?!

The annoying thing is other than my stomach being angry all the time, I feel fine, so it really is just impacting my ability to eat. So I can still workout, do chores, get everything done, so it seems like it's just some weird thing happening in my gut that is making it very very mad.

But on a happier note, it's packing weekend! Yay! Today is laundry and charging stuff day (and college football day, go PSU!), and tomorrow I'll get to digging out my suitcase and start getting stuff packed. This is also the weekend my pets start to realize that something is going on and start acting suppppper sweet so I won't leave. :rotfl2:It's funny how they know once the suitcase appears that it means I'll be missing for a few days!

Alright, so that's all for the updates today. Fingers crossed that this stomach thing resolves soon or the GI doctor can figure it out and if needed get me on medicine that'll make me feel better!

That was lucky to find a last minute appointment. They seem really hard to get. I hope it gets resolved before your trip.

Cats are funny. Our cat would get upset when he saw the suitcase. So I made a pile of things that were going into the suitcase. And then I would pull out the suitcase just before we left. He would jump in the suitcase when we returned if I left it open.

Gosh, sorry to hear your stomach is still bothering you. Hoping that the doctor is able to figure it out for you so that you can fully enjoy F&W!! Happy packing!!

Yeah, I feel super lucky. I called a few, and everyone was booked for months, fortunately this one had a cancellation come in while I was on the phone so it worked out perfectly!

Haha, my cat is currently in my suitcase. I guess he wants to come with us!

Thank you! Yeah, it's frustrating to deal with this right before a trip, but at least I feel fine otherwise so even if I can't fully enjoy F&W, I can enjoy everything else Disney has to offer!

Oh no! I was hoping your stomach issue would go away. Hopefully they will figure something out. Have antacids helped at all? Also - again not a doctor but I have had so much stomach trouble in my life - how much caffeine and/or soda do you drink? Carbonation and caffeine were a HUGE issue for me.

You and me both! I don't drink soda, but I do love my coffee in the morning, although I've cut back at bit these last few weeks. I just want some answers to what's going on, I've never had a stomach thing last this long before, I'm getting tired of it!

When I had symptoms that sound like this in the past it was ulcers and acid reflux. I hope you get answers before your trip!!!

Just checking in with you ... hope your stomach issues are behind you and that your plans aren't too impacted by the storm coming.

Thank you! Still no answers, but feeling a tad better. I've tried two different prescriptions, both made it worse, but finally found that mylanta actually makes the pain pretty much go away, so finally some relief!

Aw, thank you! Sadly no, still dealing with the stomach issues, but we're inching our way towards a diagnosis I guess. Going in for an endoscopy in two weeks, so hopefully that'll shed some light onto what's going on. Fortunately I've discovered Mylanta helps a lot, so I've stocked up on that for the trip, so hopefully I can enjoy a lot of the food now!

I love ALL your Trip Reports and look forward to each and every one. Love seeing you enjoy your mom so much. Makes my heart feel good. (I travel with an adult daughter).

I've had a ridiculously crumby stomach for years and was finally diagnosed as IBS.
Other than some prescription meds (that haven't proven their worth entirely), I cannot live without Gaviscon. I find it much better than Mylanta. If fact I literally just divided a bottle into several empty pill containers so I can take in my overnight bag for a Disney trip Sat. (fingers crossed about the hurricane). They do come in tablet form but I don't like the taste.

Leaving Sat for Disney. It's been invaluable at Disney in the past. Also, as a precaution, I do (suggestion from Gastro Dr) bring along an Imodium pill as a precaution on a day where I'm really concerned. When my husband (seldom) has an unsettled churning stomach & side effects, his go-to is always old fashioned Pepto Bismol. Swears by it.

Hope you feel better soon.

Aw, thank you so much! Seriously, my mom is my favorite travel buddy, I'd rather travel with her than friends my own age!

I'm sorry to hear about your stomach, this is my first bout with any stomach issue and it is pretty miserable. I haven't heard of Gaviscon, but I'm intrigued. I'll look into it, I was hoping to find something that was in pill form that had a similar (or better) effect than Mylanta so I could pack it in my carry on bag.

Another good idea, that's one of the few otc pills I haven't tried yet. I seriously am going to be bringing a pharmacy with me this trip! Also, we'll be there this weekend too (also pending hurricane), if you happen to see us please feel free to come say hi!
Hope you feel better soon.
Thank you so much!

Good afternoon everyone! I think this will likely be the last RL update before the new TR starts! Yay! :cool1:

Now I don't want to jinx it, but I think my stomach is starting to feel better! It's still not 100%, but the pain isn't constant anymore and I've been adding more and more back into my diet with success, so I'm feeling better about this trip now! The only downside is I've been so stressed out about this over the past few weeks that I am just exhausted now, and going into a Disney trip already exhausted isn't ideal. Oh well, at least I'll be in Disney!

Now I just need my flight to go smoothly tomorrow (fingers crossed) and I will finally be on a much needed vacation! I cannot wait to share all about this newest trip with all of you, hopefully it's a magical one!
