I mean, I don't. Never have, never will. They're nasty. Thousands of people using them a day...not for me.

When I was there last year, I think I was walking past the Fire Station, when I see this homeless looking guy walk up to a water fountain and put the whole faucet (or whatever it's called -- the silver part where the water comes out) in his mouth.

:worried: See, stuff like that is just *shakes head*

I am not interested in purchasing water, so I'll finish a bottle of Coke, rinse it out and fill it from the fountain.

How does a homeless guy afford tickets to Disneyland?

Uh huh...

I use the public fountains all the time... haven't got sick or died yet, and I'm getting pretty close to that half-centennial mark (yikes)

I said homeless looking. I wasn't implying he was homeless. He looked like a, well, bum. Really skinny, dirty, long beard, ripped clothes...

:confused3

Maybe just a SoCal 2 fer....probably not a ParkHopper. ;)

(would a homeless person's germs - dude probably has a suite at the GCH - be worse or more prolific than your typical mega exposed first grader?) :lmao:

hound :)

I drink from the fountains. I am alive and well...never got sick from drinking out of one, either.:thumbsup2

Hound has a good point!

Never judge a book by its cover.

I don't use drinking fountains, and I don't let DD use them either. Just too icky and germie. I've seem people washing baby bottoms in some and have seen teenage boys do snot rockets into them as well. Those things will keep me from a drinking fountain for good. Now, if I was near death because I was dying of thirst, yes I would take my chances. But other than that, I won't drink out of them. I bring my own bottles in or will just buy some in the park.

:scared1: :scared1: Ok, now that is just sick! If I saw that I wouldn't be drinking out of them. Poop and snot.:scared:

^^Just what I'm talking about.

Nasty.

For all you germ-o-phobes: just think that every where you go, everything you touch out it public has been touched by someone who wiped their bottom or picked their nose without washing their hands. LOL.

I try not to get too hysterical about it. I carry hand sanitizer and I prefer to use a fountain by getting the water from the fountain into my water bottle so there's no chance DD will put her mouth on the faucet.

I'm more concerned about the people standing in line near me coughing and sneezing and never bothering to cover their mouths, letting their germs fly 10 feet into the air to spread to all of us.

I worked at an amusement park and used to witness what went on ON the ride vehicles (getting hosed down after someone vomited, etc.) and, to be honest, I'd be more concerned sitting/touching, etc. the actual ride cars than the drinking fountains. Although, I usually fill water bottles with drinking fountain water and have never gotten sick.

I think I saw the same homeless looking man you did! Were you at the parks on Labor Day weekend 2007 too? It was soo wierd. In my way of rationalizing, I thought maybe he was someone famous dressing up and playing a part so he wouldn't be recognized. Of course, I didn't seem him drink from the water fountain otherwise I might not have come to this conclusion!

I don't do fountains either, and every other ride dd and I used hand sanitizer wipes...

I also don't touch door knobs with my bare hands... i try to use a paper towel, but if none is available I've used my sleeve, I've even been known to follow someone else out of the bathroom so they can open the door.

I also lysol (love the travel sized cans) the remote and phones and toilet in our hotel room... the remote is the dirtiest thing in your hotel--think about what people do in bed, then they reach for the remote and turn on the tv!

I also wipe down all the hard surfaces on the plane that are within reach with clorox or lysol wipes... my hubby thinks I am nuts, but we travel a lot, and everyone I know complains about colds they pick up on trips, and we don't ever get sick...

E-gad...insert dry heave here :faint: I'm glad I don't see those things, that's just sick. I'm sure it happens, I just don't want to witness it.

Hi kid. I passed that mark a few ago and I would rather drink from the hose than go inside. I've missed 2 days of work in 30+ years due to illness and the only pill I take is gingo, er ginkho, er, whatever it is that helps your memory.

I taught 2nd 3rd and 4th grades and they can come up with some doozies. I left all my sick days but one of the board when I left. I faked that day.

I have never feared getting sick by someone else's germs. Everything you touch has been touched so many times. Just wipe the lip off with your sleeve and you'll be fine.

We use the water fountains to fill up our water bottle. In terms of the water, I've noticed some water looks and taste "cleaner" than other water through out the parks.. But we haven't gotten sick or died yet, which is a good sign I suppose..

I get grossed out when touching things too. But you have to think that there's thousands of people touching the same thing and chances are atleast half of them didn't wash their hands (gross). I carry purell in my bag and use it often and when I do wash my hands (before I eat and after I use the restroom) I make sure I wash them extra good.

There's no avoided germs no matter where you go, especially Disneyland..

I used to use the fountains....not so sure now tho.

some folks here just make me laugh so i find germsaphobes funny. heres some facts to make you crawl out of your skin

1) on dateline or show like it they showed how the glasses in your hotel room are cleaned. and it was gross to say the least. some of the hotels used glass cleaner and a rag. yeah a rag that the maid staff cleaned the rest of the room wth including the toliet area. others showed them rinsed off and put back into use.

2) hand sanitizer is creating super germs that well hand sanitizer won't kill. basically its an physological good feeling you get from it.

sorry this world is full of germs. i drink from fountains and use hotel glasses.

now back to your regular schelduled topic
