You can spit on Space Mountain from here! An April '13 TR UPDATED 10/19 p. 28

Hi Sarah! I hope all went well with the first day of your class! I would be the parent that would be taking pictures of my (adult) kid starting their first day of teaching (school)!! How exciting for you!!

What great photos of the tigers and the castle projection show. (For the life of me I can't recall the name...) I just love the convenience of walking to/from MK from BLT. We had a lake view this last time and sunrise over the lake is always fabulous.

Sounds like the magic bands were not a problem for you?? We tested them and they were surprisingly a great thing! :)

Even if you do just a photo review of your recent trip I'd love to see!

I am still here...lol

Great update! It sure would be nice to be able to sit in your room and watch the fireworks...

Glad you are still here. I have been such a slacker at updating lately.

It was SO nice! I miss BLT a lot!

We have always had super lazy tigers, so it is nice to see them out and about when you were there.

I love using Instagram on trips now. I don't use it as much as maybe I should, but I still find it fun.

Oooohhh, that's a good idea! Start going around the circle again on the DVC resorts!

Yeah, usually they're pretty lazy for us too. Every once in a while I guess they do move. haha

Me too!

Yes, all of the DVC resorts are amazing. I'd love to try to stay at them all again, plus the Grand Floridian and now hopefully the Polynesian since it is sounding pretty official that they're adding DVC there! :hyper:

Oh I so love the tigers. Right behind the giraffes on the "must see" list.

I still can't get over that view and being able to see the nighttime shows from the comfort of "home". :lovestruc

My dad has always liked seeing tigers so it is nice to go on the trail and look for them.

I know, right?! I still look at my pictures and have a hard time believing we were actually there. Love it.

You're up to your second round? Right on! I am too, but I have to say I love the BWV's so much its hard not to want to book there every time. I am definitely do for a stay at BLT. That's one DVC resort my DH missed, so perhaps soon. Absolutely love your view.

You got some great shots of the tigers.

Hope you school year goes well.

Yes I am! Though Dad has not stayed at OKW yet. I agree about the BWV. I loved it so much when we stayed there last April. Our view there was incredible too!

Thank you!

Tigers! So so pretty. Gotta love that single rider line at EE! Hahhaha I don't blame you for wanting to stay at all the DVC resorts again! It's good to have variety! :) Good luck starting school!

It sure is! I have my favorites but it's fun to try them all. Thank you!

I had no idea they changed the Castle Show. I thought they were projecting people on the castle that attended the park that day. It was a nice surprise.

Yeah, I can't remember when they changed it. February maybe?

The animals & prayer flags look amazing on that trek. I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't take advantage of ak for all it's worth. That will change with the upcoming trip though!

Seriously, your view is everything! Bay lake looks like a beautiful hotel.

Oh no...last day! :(

Good luck on Tuesday! Enjoy your first graders all you can. They can be pretty cute.

Hope you get to enjoy DAK more. It is such an awesome park.

BLT was great!

Thank you...my kids are cute but they are certainly full of energy. :rotfl:

Still reading along. When I read that you were going to watch wishes and the castle show I thought of the balcony on the top floor. Forgot that you had that awesome view right from your own balcony.:rotfl: That is a great instagram pic of EE.

Good Luck on your first day!

haha yup, we didn't even have to leave our room to see Wishes! It was a pretty nice perk, though I did enjoy seeing the Top of the World lounge.

The start of a new school gets me so busy I have a hard time being here to, I've been back to school in varying degrees for 2 weeks now, and I feel sad summers over.

Nice pictures of the animals, we had some lazy ones on our walk through.

I don't know enough about the magic bands yet to know anything, but I'd be interested in you r experience!

That's how it was for me too-between new teacher training, district kickoff stuff, and getting my classroom ready, I was working a lot even before the first day of school.

I think there's always going to be some lazy animals. Boo!

Once I get this report done I will do a quick mini report on the August trip.

Good luck with your new class tomorrow! I'm so excited for you and wish you lots of luck for the school year :) I hope you have a class full of little :littleangel:

Thank you!

I loved following yours and other IG users trips on IG! October will be my first trip since using IG so I can't wait to post a lot of pics from our trip while we are there. That's actually one of the things that pushed me in the direction of the Vera Bradley Clare bag because it has that slip in pocket to give me quick access to my phone to take pictures. Usually I hardly take any on my phone because it's too cumbersome to get to while it's in the backpack I've taken on our previous trips.

Anyway, on to your update...

Love the tiger pics! Those have always been one of my favorite animals. They are just so gorgeous! We usually just see them laying around too, so it's cool that you got to see them moving around and being more active.

The single rider line at EE is such a blessing. :thumbsup2 DH and I can still trade off quickly without having to use up a FP.

I can't wait to see Celebrate the Magic! I can't even imagine how cool it must have been to be able to watch from your balcony. Incredible view!!

Instagram is a lot of fun, especially when you follow so many Disney people! My entire feed is for the most part Disney stuff. It's cool but at the same time it can also be kind of depressing because it just makes me want to go back. haha I definitely agree about the Clare bag-having easy access to stuff is why I like using any of the VB crossbody bags in Disney World because everything is right at your side.

The tigers are really pretty. And so big when you see them up close!

That's awesome you get to take advantage of the single rider line at EE too. :thumbsup2

It was a pretty spectacular view!

Just to recap: EMH at the MK at 7 AM, then DTD for lunch, pick up rental car at Dolphin, tour Art of Animation, then a couple hours at DAK. No wonder I was ready to go back to the room for a rest by 8:30 PM (after a quick stop at the McD's near Blizzard Beach).

I remember that once the morning clouds moved away it got pretty warm in the sun that day too. 13-14 hours of touring pretty much does it for me for one day.

Yes, it did get pretty warm once we got to DAK. Totally forgot about the McDonald's until you mentioned it the other day.

Hi! Thank you! The first day was definitely crazy-actually, it's still kind of crazy. haha

I bet a lake view room would be nice too. Since I won't be staying at BLT again anytime soon, I'm glad Dad was willing to splurge on points so we could get that theme park view.

Nope, we had no issues at all with the magic bands! I will hopefully start a mini report for the August trip when I finish this one.

Hello DIS friends! Wow, I can't believe it's been almost a month since I last updated my TR. As I said before life has been pretty crazy right now with school and everything else. I'm now 3 weeks into the school year. First grade is a lot of fun but my kids are very energetic to say the least (but I guess what do you expect with a bunch of 6 year olds? haha). Then last week Emma came home to visit for a few days. It was nice seeing her again and one of the exciting things we got to do was go to the Packer game at Lambeau Field last Sunday. It was only the second time I had been there and it was amazing. I am a little biased but seriously, how can anyone NOT love the Packers?! Such a great day and we got to see an awesome victory. :thumbsup2

Unfortunately this week got off to a bad start because I got rear-ended driving to school. :( So now I won't have my car for a couple weeks. Ugh.

But back to the good news...Dad and I are in the DOUBLE DIGITS now for our December trip! YAY!!!! I seriously cannot wait to get back to Saratoga Springs and see all the amazing Christmas decorations!

Anyway...are you ready for another update? :)

Saturday, April 6, 2013

For our final park day, we decided to head back to Hollywood Studios. Emma was off that day so she was going to meet us there and spend most of the day with us since we were also going to the Hoop-de-Doo Revue that evening!

Getting close to the park!

We're here and ready to go!

They opened a little early which again helped with getting to Toy Story Mania. It was nice to be able to walk over there and not worry about being pushed around or trampled. Some of the characters were out near the Sorcerer Hat, so I decided to stop and meet Stitch since nobody else was there.

It was going to be a beautiful day! Love that blue sky.

We made it down to Pixar Place and got right in line for TSM. Emma wasn't there yet so we just decided to text her when we got off the ride.

Something amazing happened on this ride. Check out the scores:

Yes, mine is the one on the left!! I finally beat my dad. WOOT! I guess it had to happen sooner or later. So that was a pretty good way to start out the morning. :) After the ride I got a text from Emma saying that she was there and was also going to ride TSM. So Dad and I just waited in the area until she came out. When we met up with her, we did the usual: go back to Sunset Boulevard to check out TOT and RNRC. We thought about doing the Jack Sparrow thing but decided to hold off until later.

We ended up doing Rock 'n Roller Coaster first.

We didn't enjoy it. haha, just kidding! As usual the ride was awesome.

I think we might've gotten fastpasses for Tower of Terror so we could go back and do the Legend of Jack Sparrow. We had to wait a couple of cycles before we got in. If you remember, I thought the Narnia attraction was really lame, so I was hoping the pirate one would be better. Unfortunately, it still wasn't all that great. :confused3

I guess it had some cool special effects but still it wasn't an attraction I'll need to see every trip. I think the best part was the sing-along to Yo Ho! A Pirate's Life For Me (though I was hoping we'd sing more...). Oh well.

up next: Tower of Terror and more DHS fun!

That sucks about your car! Hopefully you get it back soon.

On to the update...

I just love how they open DHS now. It makes the walk to TSM so much less stressful than it was before with the rope. Pretty cool that you beat your dad! The only time I have ever beat DH was when he had DS on his lap. :rotfl:

LOOOOOVE RnRC! Might be my favorite roller coaster in WDW.

I'm still interested in the Legend of Jack Sparrow attraction just because it's new and DS loves pirates, but your reaction seems to be the standard. Not great, just okay.

It must be so great to be teaching first grade Sarah. Tiring for sure, but rewarding too. :goodvibes

So sorry to hear you got rear-ended. :scared: Glad you're ok though.

Congratulations on your TSM win. It's so exciting beating a parent at something for the first time. :woohoo:

I still haven't tried out out the Jack attraction. So many are just like you in that it's really not a Must see. I'm sure I'll try it once at some point if the line is short.

Oh no!! Sorry about your car. Hope you are ok.

Also, my condolences for the Packer loss today. Even though Rodgers passed more yards successfully than Dalton they (inset sad face here!) lost! I thought the Bengals weren't that great?? :confused3 I'm in a family of HUGE Packer fans. I actually watched the game with my DH today.

Back to your updates! I've never seen park open for DHS (spoiler alert for my own TR!) but that is awesome seeing a deserted Hollywood Blvd.

I wish my family would stop more for character photos so I'd have some like you and your dad with Stitch. That's great that he does that with you.

Congratulations on pulling off a TSM win over your dad. Can anyone explain the "prize" of the beaver character??

Never done the Legend of Jack Sparrow. I'll take your advice on that one and not rush to see it anytime soon. At least you can cross that one off your list of "done it" attractions.

Holy cow I don't think I've been on the DIS since my CP started a month ago :rotfl: But I just caught up with your TR and loved the updates! I always seem to go to the parks at night and I really need to get up and go one morning!

I haven't done the Legend of Jack Sparrow yet, but the other day I walked by and it had a 30 minute wait! That wait was pretty much the longest in the park. It was insane!

Oh, and, on your next trip if you see a CM named Emily at Mickey's Philharmagic, the Carrousel, or Princess Fairytale Hall feel free to say hi ;)

:lmao:... I have no doubt you let her win. ;)

You have no idea what a bad loser I am. I only wish I could score 147,000 points on TSM without doing my best.

It was some consolation knowing that Sarah was getting frustrated with all of my narrow victories.

Sorry to hear about your car. :(

Liking the double digits thing, though. :cool1:

Also like the blue sky, blue hat, with people in blue pic! :upsidedow

Just wanted to let you know that I finally caught up on your updates over the past few days! I can't believe you're going back so soon, woohoo! It'll be a nice thing to look forward to after putting in so much hard work with your job :)

BTW I love that pic of your dad on RnR, haha. Too bad my dad doesn't get into Disney (or even visit the parks anymore!) the way yours does.

Yes, thankfully I have the car back now.

Me too! It is so much nicer than the hoardes of people rushing toward TSM.

RNRC is great but BTMRR has to be my favorite just for nostalgic reasons. It was the first roller coaster I ever went on!

That's why I wanted to do it. I'm up for trying new things and if it's not that great then I don't have to do it again.

It must be so great to be teaching first grade Sarah. Tiring for sure, but rewarding too. :goodvibes

Yes, it is definitely tiring. There don't seem to be enough hours in the day-we are so busy in first grade!

Thanks. That is the bright spot of the accident. It just freaked me out at the time.

If you have the time it's worth doing once but not worth a wait that's more than 20 minutes or so.

Thanks. I was fine after getting hit, just shaken up. Ugh!

haha yeah, that Packer game...they really had no business losing, even though they were behind for a while. Should've won, but what can you do?! Atleast they've won the last couple of games.

I love meeting the characters! Because we've gone so many times Dad is willing to do whatever. But when you go five times in one year...:rotfl:

Thank you! It was nice to finally beat my dad. I think the "prizes" just depend on how many points you get. Kind of like the different rankings on Buzz Lightyear.

haha, exactly. I have no real urge to go see it again any time soon.

Glad you enjoyed the updates. I have really been slacking lately with school and everything.

Wow, really?! That is crazy. I can't believe that was the longest wait at the park.

How are you liking your CP? Are you done in January? I'll look for you in December!

I didn't think it was so exciting. :)

haha of course not.

:lmao:... I have no doubt you let her win. ;)

Somehow I doubt that! :rotfl:

You have no idea what a bad loser I am. I only wish I could score 147,000 points on TSM without doing my best.

It was some consolation knowing that Sarah was getting frustrated with all of my narrow victories.

Yes, you always somehow pull out the victories in the end. :( Atleast I can say I beat you once.

Sorry to hear about your car. :(

Liking the double digits thing, though. :cool1:

Also like the blue sky, blue hat, with people in blue pic! :upsidedow

Thanks. Atleast the car is fixed now. :)

Me too! Under 70 days now! :hyper:

Yes it will! I don't think I have ever been looking forward to a trip as much as I am now. I like my job but I am ready for some time off! We don't get any days off until Thanksgiving. Ugh.

haha yeah, Dad always tries to make goofy faces on RNRC. :) Bummer your dad doesn't enjoy the parks that much. How can he not?!

I am loving your trip report - please finish it!!

I am glad you are enjoying it. I am going to try to finish it. Sorry it is taking so long!

Hi everyone! Sorry again for the serious lack of updates lately and also for the lack of details in this update. As much as I enjoy doing trip reports I'm kind of at the point where I just want to get this one done! That way I can do a little review of my summer trip. :)

Saturday, April 6, 2013 cont'd (part 2)

After our first experience at The Legend of Jack Sparrow we went to do another one of our Hollywood Studios favorites: the Tower of Terror! Other than the first couple of times I ever tried it, this ride never fails to entertain me. Between the special effects, seeing first timers' reactions, and the unpredictability of the ride, it is a lot of fun. I wanted to try to get some on-ride photos this time, so I bravely held onto my new camera throughout the ride. I have to say, I was pretty impressed that I was able to get this one of the ghosts! Awesome!

About to enter the Twilight Zone...

From the Tower of Terror we headed toward the Animation building. There was hardly a wait for Sorcerer Mickey, so of course we had to wait! While we were in line I overheard the girl in front of us asking her mom why they hadn't seen Daffy Duck or something strange like that. Maybe because you won't ever see Daffy Duck in Disney World...but whatever.

I'm not too crazy about this picture, but again, this is what happens when you have two different people trying to take your picture. Atleast Mickey looks cute. :)

Emma and I stopped in Sweet Spells (or whatever the name of that candy store is on Sunset...I am blanking on the name!) to get a treat. Everything looked really good but we both got a yummy smores bar.

Then, since it was the final day of the Disney Channel Rocks! show, we stopped to watch. It was kind of sad seeing these CMs doing their final performances after how long. There were a few hardcore fans watching (like this person who even had a sign...).

You could tell that after the final song a lot of the performers were getting pretty emotional. Some were in tears. I just remember feeling really bad for them. Though hopefully they are now working on a new show!

There wasn't anything else we wanted to do at DHS, so we ended up taking the boat over to the Epcot resorts. It was such a perfect day, which meant I had to take advantage of the opportunity to see the Flower and Garden Festival in all its glory!

We strolled around the Beach Club.

I just cannot get over how gorgeous the whole Epcot resort area is. As we looked out over the Boardwalk, I couldn't help but think about the trip Dad and I took last year when we stayed at the BWV. Whenever we visit there now I'll always look for our room. Wow I miss it there. And really, how can you not?! SO PRETTY.

More palm trees.

This place is perfect.

Then we made our way to the International Gateway so we could enjoy one more Epcot visit!

Beautiful pictures around the Epcot resort area! That is my favorite area in all of WDW:)

Sarah, you got some GREAT photos on ToT! Goodness. :worship:

Ha, that kid in the Mickey line should have been immediately ejected! :lmao:

I wasn't a big fan of Disney Channel Rocks (I did like the HSM shows though), but I still often watched. Those guys and gals worked so hard even in that Florida heat.

I have to say, I was pretty impressed that I was able to get this one of the ghosts!

That is the best one I've seen! :thumbsup2

:scratchin

Maybe I don't want to stay onsite, if you feel wistful about staying one place, even when you're staying in another. :upsidedow We do the "remember when we stayed there?" kind of thing now, but we don't miss the places we stayed before. Maybe if I stay onsite, it'll upset the balance. :scared:

See, this is how I always manage to talk myself out of staying onsite before it comes time to be making reservations. Although the fact that the kids fuss about how small the units are is probably the biggest factor. I need to convince the two oldest to get their own unit, is what. :p

I haven't ridden ToT in like three years but this update made me want to! Awesome ghost picture!

Ahhh those Epcot resorts. Too perfect!

haha, I know, right?!

Yeah, the Disney Channel Rocks show wasn't as good in my opinion, but that's probably because I didn't know all the songs like I did for HSM. :rolleyes1

That is the best one I've seen! :thumbsup2

No, staying onsite is still awesome. I think the problem is there are too many great resorts to choose from. It's not that I'm unhappy about the place I'm staying at-I've just loved all of the places we've been to!
