You can spit on Space Mountain from here! An April '13 TR UPDATED 10/19 p. 28

I found a couple of different sites to use to host pictures when I started having problems with photobucket. Right now, I mostly use postimage.com. Really easy to upload and post from, just a very bare bones site. You really can't do much with the pictures but upload them, although that's all I really need so it works fine for me. And I do believe it's unlimited uploads!

Yay for another trip! :cool1: It's always so exciting when those "last minute" (not really, but in Disney planning world, it is!:rotfl:) plans come together! No experience with Pop Century, but you will be in DISNEY WORLD, so I'm sure you'll love it!!! :thumbsup2

Now onto the exciting stuff...

As some of you said in your comments, YES, I do have another trip planned!!!! :dance3: It all started when my parents drove down to Florida in June to help Emma move into a new apartment (I don't think I've mentioned it in this thread but she ended her CP early because she was offered a Professional Internship. Her goal was to either extend her CP once it officially ended in August, or get a PI...well, the PI thing worked out so now she'll be down there until January!) But anyway, I tweeted something about how I wished I could've gone with my parents but couldn't because I was still in school. A couple of days later she tweeted back and said how I should come down this summer. Long story short, thanks to her CM discount, I got a really good deal on a room. I'll be staying at Pop Century the 2nd week of August, which will definitely be different from our DVC experiences but it should still be fun (hopefully DVC hasn't spoiled me so much that I've become a resort snob...). And then we booked flights today! YAY! I can't believe I'm going back so soon (and to be honest, I wouldn't if it weren't for the fact that Emma got this new job), but with the December trip too that means I'll be purchasing an Annual Pass again. :goodvibes

If any of you have advice/tips on Pop Century, or things you love/don't love about it please feel free to share!

OK, have a good night everyone! Hopefully I'll be able to get another actual TR update done early this week. :)

How exciting! We'll be in the World in August as well - thought I saw you over on the August thread :goodvibes. We've never stayed at Pop, but loved the All-Stars, so I'm sure you'll have a fantastic trip. Maybe we'll bump into you at the parks :thumbsup2

I always enjoy seeing F&G stuff! The Monster U topiary was still there last month! SUCH EXCITEMENT.

The chewy caramel bar looks yummy! Is it like soft caramel? It looks like it has short bread or something on there too. Clearly I'm examining this a little too much.

If you've stayed at value resort before, I think you're okay as far as being a 'resort snob.' I mean, I went from BLT to Pop as well, and if it weren't for a few things that happened I would have liked it better. I do love the All Stars though!

Hey Sarah, sorry about your image hosting problems. :sad2:

I wish I could give some advice on Flickr, but having never used it, I have no idea. I'm sure someone will have some info though.

As for Photobucket, I ended up doing what Brenda did and just paid the $30 for the year of unlimited bandwidth. I certainly have no need for the vast amount of storage the "pro" account offers, but the 10 GIG per month bandwidth you get with a free account can get used up pretty quickly, so I really didn't have much choice.

Pop Century is a fun resort. Of course you can't have the same expectations as staying DVC but I think you'll really like it. The food court also has some good food.

Congrats on getting another annual pass. I'm sure you'll put it to good use.

YAY for your upcoming trips! WOOHOO!

I can't even fathom how awesome it would be to be Emma and getting to eat Disney food whenever she wants. I mean, whenever I had a specific craving, I could just go! That's insane! Does she get a food discount?

Still haven't seen MU yet! Will definitely do that in the next few weeks!

I messaged you on FB about how I use Flickr. Hope it's helpful!

Pop is a great resort. To be honest, if I am not staying deluxe there is no where at Disney I'd rather stay. The resort is cute, the buses are great and the customer service is among the best in all WDW :thumbsup2 My tip is request the 50's as it is just a short walk.

Since Sarah posted a picture of me with the Grumpy topiary, I have to mention that I was trying to look grumpy to go along with the theme. I don't ALWAYS look that grumpy.

Sarah, sorry about your photobucket/flikr dilemma. I can't offer any advice since I just pay for the pro service for my accounts. :badpc:

I loved your last TR update! I have not seen MU yet but it is likely that I won't get around to it until it comes out on Netflix or such. Glad you can relate to a shout out to MU! Now I'll think of you when I see it!

I'm a fellow August Diser too! (mid-late August for us.) I think you'll be there later in December than me since we'll be there early December. Oh darn! So sorry that you have to renew your AP and look forward to more trips to WDW!

Oh and speaking of Wisconsin in your last update. I've been to Madison many times on business and to visit family. My MIL used to live in New Glarus which is a small town outside Madison. My FIL lives in Sturgeon Bay area. (Been to Baraboo, Green Bay, Osh Kosh, Appleton... gee, I think I've been to a few places in WI!!)

Take care and I hope you have a great week back in summer session.

I hope you get to see MU soon! haha, I feel honored that you'll think of me now. :)

YAY for your upcoming trips as well! My December trip won't be until after Christmas. I'm sure it will be insane but I really don't have much choice being on a teacher's schedule. I don't really care though, as I've said before my main reason for going then is to see the decorations. I can't wait! And yeah, it is such a bummer I have to get another AP. :rotfl:

That's awesome you've been to so many places in WI! If you're ever in the Milwaukee area, you should say hi. :)

Thanks for the suggestion for photo hosting!

That's right, I'm going to Disney World again so I can't be too mad about that! And I'll get to see Emma. Yay!

Hi there! Nice to have another August DISer joining in. When is your trip?

I always enjoy seeing F&G stuff! The Monster U topiary was still there last month! SUCH EXCITEMENT.

The chewy caramel bar looks yummy! Is it like soft caramel? It looks like it has short bread or something on there too. Clearly I'm examining this a little too much.

Ooh, that's cool the topiaries were still there. Were they still in that same spot at Epcot?

Yes, the caramel was soft. And now that you mention it, I think that it could've been shortbread on there too. I couldn't figure out what it was. LOL.

Yeah, it's just been a while since we were last at the All Stars. I'm sure it'll be fine there. Atleast I get to check another resort off of my list!

Oops I need to correct my post, I use postimage.ORG not .com

Thanks!

It's alright, thanks to Rachel I think my image problems are solved! YAY! I am just too cheap to pay the money to get the pro account.

Pop Century is a fun resort. Of course you can't have the same expectations as staying DVC but I think you'll really like it. The food court also has some good food.

Congrats on getting another annual pass. I'm sure you'll put it to good use.

I really can't complain because I would much rather be at Pop Century and get to stay onsite. And for as little as we're paying, well, I can't complain about that either!

Thank you! I haven't bought it yet but can't wait to get my AP again.

YAY for your upcoming trips! WOOHOO!

Yes, it is very exciting. Glad Emma is still down there. haha

It really is. Though now that she's not working at DTD anymore I don't know how much she eats there or in the parks. As for a discount, I think she gets one. I know when we visited her back when she was on her first CP she got a candy bar and got a discount. But who knows, maybe that counted as merchandise?

Hope you get to see MU soon!

Thank you for your Flickr advice! Now I can start using that instead of photobucket. I've complained so much about that site but still haven't given up on it.

I am glad to hear that. The theming does look great and I'm glad you've had good experiences with the buses. I am hoping it's better than when we stayed at the All Stars several years ago. I am sure we will have a good time there!

Since Sarah posted a picture of me with the Grumpy topiary, I have to mention that I was trying to look grumpy to go along with the theme. I don't ALWAYS look that grumpy.

haha, yes I should have said that. Just like when we met the 7 dwarves at MNSSHP. :)

Hello! I'm all caught up on TR now! Still loving that view you had from BLT!

What came on after the credits of Monsters University? We stayed for some of them, but left before they were all finished - wish we'd stayed now!

Ah, Flickr, I uploaded all the pics from our May trip to Flickr right after we got home, since I don't like the new Photobucket. I just had a chance to start my TR today. It took me awhile to figure out how to post pictures! I finally found a thread here that gave good advice. I guess Rachel has straightened you out on it, but I just click on the picture I want to post, then click on the icon to send (the square with the arrow coming out of it), then click on "Grab the HTML/BBCode", make sure to select BBCode and the picture size you want, then copy and paste the link.

Can't wait to hear more about your trip!

I skipped through your TR until the pictures show up, hope you can figure out how to make that happen again soon. How exciting that you have another trip coming up. I think you will like the change of staying at the POP. You picked my favorite value resort. I also vote the 50's area, I really liked the pool in that area, and the view of the lake from the balcony too. And that was before they finished AOA, now I'm sure it is even more beautiful.

Thank you! Our view was pretty spectacular.

Oh, it wasn't much at the end but remember the one monster at the beginning of the movie who was worried he'd be late to class on the first day? Highlight to see what happened-I don't want to spoil it for people who might not have seen the movie: He ends up making it to his class but the school year is over! The janitor is inside cleaning up the classroom. :rotfl:

Thanks for the Flickr tips! I'm going to start using that now.

Ugh, I know I have to wait until I get to a certain date of the month (the bandwidth resets on the date you joined or something like that). It is really nice to have another trip planned. I am looking forward to going down again and seeing Emma.

I will have to see if Emma can add any room requests for us.

I just started reading your TR but I cant see the photo's :confused3

Hi there! Thank you for joining in. :) I am so sorry about not being able to see pictures...I know I was approaching my bandwidth limit with photobucket and it seems like I've reached it now. :sad2: I am going to be switching over to Flickr, so hopefully I won't have this problem with pictures anymore.

OK guys, well, it looks like I reached my bandwidth again for this month. Unfortunately, that means my photobucket pictures won't be visible again until the 21st! :scared1: From reading some stuff on Photobucket, it sounds like I might be able to post the links to those albums (that doesn't affect bandwidth) so if anyone is interested I can do that. I am so sorry this happened but I feel special because that means a lot of people are reading my TR. So thank you if you are following along!

I have made the switch to Flickr, so that should solve the problem for new updates. But that means all my old updates will be without pictures for another 10 days.

Thanks to Rachel (aka RachelNinja) I was finally able to figure out how to use the Flickr links so here's a really quick update just to test it out. I need to finish our Epcot part of the day before moving on to DHS!

Thursday, April 4, 2013 cont'd (part 3)

As we continued on through World Showcase, we admired some more of the Flower and Garden festival displays, as well as the amazing architecture of the different pavilions. I tell you, I have a much better appreciation for WS as I get older.

There were several Beauty and the Beast topiaries near France. I only got a picture of Belle and the Beast, but I think Emma got one of nearly every topiary! They also had Chip, Mrs. Potts, Lumiere, and Cogsworth.

I also love all the princess topiaries. :goodvibes I had to stop by Cinderella and Prince Charming!

Peter Pan was atop a roof in the United Kingdom. That was pretty cool.

Once we completed the World Showcase loop, we headed through the Oz garden again. I needed a redo of the picture I took by the Oz balloon because I didn't like how it turned out. This one was much better. :thumbsup2

The Oz garden was a great addition to this year's festival. Like so many other things, it was just so colorful. Check out these glass flowers!

Adorable little monsters near the Monsters University display. So clever.

Our final stop before leaving the park was the pin station.

I like to get pins that represent something from a given trip and on a couple other trips I've gotten one for the Flower and Garden Festival. I skipped the pin last year but decided to get it again this time. There are always several designs to choose from, including exclusive pins for DVC and Annual Passholders. However, I decided to get one of the "open" limited editions (all of the event pins are LE...but anyone can get them) that had topiary Mickey on it, as well as a little spinner element. Because I wanted to do some trading (again I blame Emma for that idea...she had so much fun pin trading at work) I also got a small mystery pouch that had 2 pins. I'll post the picture in the next update because I might have made a couple trades...:rolleyes1 I think I might've bought a second pack so Emma had a couple more traders too. Yes, I am a nice sister. :)

After making my purchase we made our way out to monorail station (oops, I first typed bus stop!). We wanted to go back to Bay Lake Tower for a short break before our dinner at the Prime Time Café!

TTC!

Way to look on the bright side Sarah!. Bandwidth limit reached means lots of readers!!

Love that Peter Pan topiary! I found that so clever.
I really do miss the all the topiaries around World Showcase when they're not there.

I love that Peter Pan topiary in the UK! Thanks for sharing all your F&G pictures with us!

Aw, now I really wish we'd stayed all the way through the credits of Monsters University! :)

Totally agree. MK is my favorite, but I appreciate epcot more & more with each visit. It's unexplainable. Even without the awesomeness known as flower & garden.

Cute hoodie!!

I can't wait to hear about dinner! I love prime time! I could so go for some pot roast right now.
