I think they're trying to make it more like a ribeye steak at the casino buffet when they do that. But I'm not so keen on how that would come out. If you want a ribeye, go to a place that has them rather than try to turn an already cooked rib roast slice into one.
Ketchup, bacon, and some chopped lettuce. A BLT hot dog. By the way tomato ketchup is actually a modern thing. Ketchup was actually mushroom based in the 18th century:
I like my dogs simple, with nothing but my homemade chili sauce. I make a batch and then freeze portions in the snack size ziploc bags so I can just heat a portion when I am fixing hot dogs.
If it's a special occasion, maybe just a bacon-wrapped hot dog with onions. I got one from a likely unlicensed street vendor in downtown Oakland after the 2015 Warriors victory parade. Walked right by a radio station table set up on the sidewalk, and one of the hosts mentioned it on air, and I lifted it up in acknowledgment. I know these things originated in LA. At the Oakland Coliseum there are tons of these guys working the ramp from the stadium to the Coliseum BART station. Didn't get sick off of it, so it couldn't have been that bad.
