Just an fyi, my wife and I got drenched by one of the elephants towards the end of the jingle cruise and spent the rest of the Christmas party night wet. In fact I got more drenched on jingle cruise than Kali river Rapids. I read all sorts of threads previously that laughed at the thought of getting wet on that ride. Most said there is no way to get wet because of sensors in the elephants, etc. Well, I reporting that you can get wet and I definitely did.

oh I believe it. while on jungle cruise on NYE one year someone got soaked by an elephant.

now the ride people never believed I got soaked on TWICE was maelstrom.
both times I was sitting in the front on the right side.
the first time I was so unprepared that my purse got drenched and there was literally a puddle in it thank god my phone still worked after that.

While the track is set on Jungle (or Jingle) Cruise the skipper does control the speed so if no one on your boat is laughing at the jokes the skipper can choose to slow down so the boat will be sprayed by the elephants.

The skipper was actually very apologetic and the cast members quickly rounded up some towels for us. I still couldn't tell if it was part of the show or if something went wrong.

Something went wrong. Normally the only way to get wet on the Jungle/Jingle Cruise is if it's raining or the boat sinks - or the guest abandons ship.

About 3 years ago at DL the skipper got completely soaked on Jungle Cruise. It was late at night, after 10 pm, and the boat and the skipper were all having a good time, really into it. When we got to the elephants the timing seemed off (or the skipper was off) and she ended up getting soaked. It made the ride even more fun and she laughed it off. Definitely the best Jungle Cruise ever; didn't even think it was possible to get wet until then!

We had to pause and idle for a minute on the Jingle Cruise two weeks ago because one of the elephants was about to get us. Skipper started 'yelling' at it to behave before we started forward again. To be fair though, I don't think anyone would have minded getting more wet.. it was downpouring anyway and the water was coming in the boat anyway.

Speaking as an ex jungle skipper, that should have never happened. The boats aren't that difficult to control so the skipper must have really not been paying attention!

One year the elephant spray hit our boat so hard it tipped and I fell out. I was soaked and flailing around. Luckily, the skipper threw me a bar of soap and I was able to wash ashore.

THIS!

I'm not a former CM or anything, but I know for a fact that you are not supposed to get wet on that ride like that. The skipper messed up.

Maelstrom always scared me a bit at that part. The water got so close to the top of the boat I always felt like it was just going to pour in! It must have just been bad timing for you.

The sensor is tripped toward the middle of the elephant pool and the skips are supposed to time it so that they miss the spray. However, sometimes the squeeze play elephants are faulty or sometimes the skips get the timing off. One skip when I was there on his last night with the company drove every. single. boat. through the spray as a last hoorah. He was soaked all night.
