My mom and I are going to Florida for 10 days, May 10 to May 19, andwe are staying at Silver Lake Resor for the until the 17. We are then moving to a Disney Resort. My mom thinks we are just going to stay at Pop Century but I want to suprise her with an upgrade. We stayed at POR Riverside and loved it but I was thinking of one of the deluxes, since it is just two nights. So which would you chose? I want to keep it under $800 for the two nights.

PS Please tell me why too!!!!

Thanks, Becca

Last year I stayed at the Old Faithful Club Concierge Level and they had impeccable service. And since I had AAA i got the rate of the room down to $385 a night

Either WL or Poly....

I would think poly just because it's 2 days and you really want convenience.

Also make ADR's for Kona cafe and Ohana's:thumbsup2

If it's you and Mom with no kids I'd suggest an EPCOT resort like the Yacht Club. Understated elegence, quiet but not stuffy by any means. Tons of good dining opportunities, walk to EPCOT, walk or ride a boat to the studios.

Polynesian or Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Poly - view of Magic Kingdom, monorail, south seas ambiance
AKL - animals, cultural theme & presentations in the evening, good bus service for the most part. Relaxing pool and two hot tubs.

I second the YC.:thumbsup2

I recommend the Polynesian resort. It's convenient, beautiful, and offers some of the best views on Disney property.

Here's my web page with a lot of pictures from my stay there in July:

I also have pictures of AKL, WL, and GF on my web site. Click the link below in my signature, the click on the "Disney World trips" link.

Have a great time, wherever you stay! :sunny:

We are die-hard YC/BC fans.... I can't even get DH to TRY another resort :rotfl: The proximity to Epcot can't be beat.... the Boardwalk is right there as well. We actually slightly prefer the ambience of the YC side though we'd stay at either hotel :thumbsup2

I say BC. This is our favorite resort! It has SAB, is right at the International Gateway to Epcot, walking or boating distance to MGM, close to BW entertainment, shops, and dining, gelato at the Marketplace (yum!!!), an awesome character breakfast buffet at Cape May Cafe, and Art! You just can't get better than that!!

Let us know which one you pick and have a great time!

does she have a favorite park? if she loves epcot, I'd choose an epcot resort (I love the YC and the BWI personally). if she prefers MK, I'd go with on over there.

The Contemporary, Tower, MK view. Why? Big, comfy rooms, amazing view- walking distance to MK.

I love the Boardwalk Inn. I love the proximity to both Epcot and MGM, the fact that there are plenty of places to eat and last time I was there, I had a room that I could watch Illuminations from the balcony.

My vote is the AKL with a Savanna View or Poly with a MK View!!
Here's a link to my video of the AKL:

I hope this helps you decide!! Good Luck!!

The Yacht Club. We love the pool and the walking distance to Epcot.

As of right now they are showing extra magic hours on the 18th of May for both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. Since we will only be staying on property for those two days we were going to deffinatly take advantage of one of these. I am pretty sure that MK is the night time one, and we love doing that park at night. I am leaning towards Poly but she really loves WL. One thing is that when they were there three weeks ago she spent a lot of time at WL and thought it was too dark inside. We both thought that the Contemporary was a little plain, and GF was a little stuffy. We do really like the Boardwalk and the Yacht and Bleach Club Resorts. I love the fact you can walk to EPCOT, but while we are at Silver Lake we planned to go to EPCOT several days and it would seem a waste to stay at an EPCOT resort if we dont plan to spend a lot of time there. EVEN THOUGH the Teddy Bear and Doll weekend is going on those days. What a delima!!!

Keep your suggestions coming. I love reading them!

Would anyone stay at a moderate over a Deluxe?

One word of advice about EMH evenings at MK, they are totally insane! With all of our stays we have tried them a few times only to leave in total disgust from the crowds. EPCOTs EMH's are much more doable because that park is more spread out, so the crowds are a little more manageable. The MK is like a sardine can. We tried to stay once during early summer, but left before the EMHs actually started due to the high crowds. Plus, the day people can still stay in the park, they just can't ride, so they tend to hang around, added to the resort guests that return for the EMH. The Poly is a lovely resort, very convenient with the monorail and also the resort launch to MK (small boat). WL is also great, but the rooms are smaller than the Poly's. Of the monorail resorts though, our favorite is GF, not stuffy at all. I really don't think that you can go wrong, but as I mentioned on the first time, check out the YC/BC as well. It is a wonderful location. We have always had a water/lagoon view and could see the high fireworks from Illuminations from our YC balcony.

ETA, I just realized that you were talking about the weekend of Teddy Bear and Doll, that was the weekend we were at the CR this year that MK was so packed. LOL
