I have more assignments, projects, lab reports etc due tomorrow than any other day all term and am going crazy trying to get everything done as the term is coming to an end and we enter exams. For one of my smaller assignments I have to gather info from others to make a database of answers for the following problem:

You are the new Vice President of Communications for some company. Make a (detailed) list of everything you would do in the first month on the job (and why if applicable). Be realistic with the one-month time-frame.

So there you have it. You may have even thought to yourself before "if I was VP, I would do things differently." So what would you do on the first month of the job as VP? I'm not expecting any VPs to read this, though if you are one guess I've hit the jackpot :teeth: but I'm looking from input from everyone, managment or otherwise.

Anyone??? :) Thanks a lot! :) And if anyone wants to pop over to help me out with my other gazillion things to do, feel free! :teeth: :p

Get to know the people working under me, and how things work right now, while brainstorming on ways to improve current methods.

#1 Review the existing budget. Can't do a dollars worth of communicating if the budget will only allow you to spend $.25.

#2 If I was new to the business, I'd meet with my boss, other key managers and my new staff to get their sense of what they have liked about the business' customer communications, etc., and what they think could be improved.

#3 If I was promoted from within, I'd already have a laundry list of things I'd like to accomplish. The first on this list would be to review the communications' calendar to see that it is meeting the business' strategic objectives.

#4 I'd meet with the company's advertising agency and my boss to review outstanding projects left by the former manager.

#5 I'd address any marketing and communications pieces that would be due during this first month to ensure that they are accomplished and that they are effective.

#6 Through doing this "homework", I'd develop my plan of attack for the future months.

#7 Network within the company.

Thanks for the good start!
