You Are Not The First To Pass This Way: 2nd Magic Baltic Cruise, 6/24/2010

Just to mention to everyone, someone posted on the Baltic thread from Helsinki with a brief report. Apparently internet access on the ship really is bad, but it sounds as though debarkation in both Warnemunde and St. Petersburg was pretty smooth. Good to hear from someone from the ship.

Weather forecast for the first few days looks quite decent -- no rain so far. Now if they could just get rid of the thunderstorms forecast along the east coast on Wednesday, things would be good!!!!

We just got to our hotel in Dublin. 4 hour flight delay out of Chicago, but no lost luggage so far. One more airplane to take when we fly to London in 2 days. Temperatures here are nice high 60 Low 70. May want to pack a light sweater or two.

A 4 hour flight delay is likely to result in my missing the ship - hope the weather here holds up. Or the weather for wherever my plane is coming from.

Don't even think that!! As of today, possible thunderstorms for Wed. But those don't usually last long around here. I've been cking our flights the past couple of days and they have been ontime. One day last week, they took off about 20 mins late, but other than that all on time up till yesterday.

Been cking weather in the various cities, and Oslo looks like rain at this point. Of course, that could change.

Biggest concern at this point is DD woke up this morning with a sore throat. Says she is going to the Dr tomorrow. She has a tendency to get strep throat. Hopefully it's just stress at finishing her online class before we leave. At least, I hope that's all it is!!!

4 hour delays are really rare so I'm not anticipating that. Yes, when we have thunderstorms here they are pretty quick. I still don't want to check the weather for Dulles Weds. night yet.

I hope your daughter doesn't have strep! My toe is purple today but it doesn't hurt as much, so I'm thinking it probably isn't broken. It has till Oslo to be good for walking a lot. But because of the toe I'm now thinking of taking another hour off work because I'm walking slower.

I also have been checking how our flight has been doing. Good to know I'm not the only one!!!! Out of JFK, the flight seems to be leaving late pretty regularly, especially if there is any bad weather in the area. They are forecasting scattered thunderstorms up and down the east coast Wednesday, so I am expecting us to leave late. Just have to trust that we have enough built-in cushion at this point.

When I checked the Oslo weather for Saturday, it was partly sunny and a high of 66. Does it look like rain now??? That would be a bummer. Dover looks good!

Got to Orlando last night and leaving from MCO tonight for London!:cool1: Hope to be at Harrods for afternoon tea tomorrow! ;)

Safe travels to everyone!b:thumbsup2

Buck, safe travels to you and your family. Enjoy London!

Well, I have my bag all packed and DD 22 has started on hers. Still working on laundry and need to go pick up DS's suit on Tuesday. Next two days are going to be busy I think. I will relax when the plane is in flight.

TDC, hope the toe is better today.

Can't wait to be on the ship and be in my same stateroom. It'll feel like home!!

Happy Monday everyone!

I won't really be relaxed until I am on the plane and the plane has left the ground.

My brother offered a ride to Dulles and I may take him up on that. Then I can get there earlier. My nephew has asked me to bring him a Russian comic book, I wonder if they have anything like that.

Safe journeys to all who are leaving now! Soon we will all be aboard ship.

Hope the travels from MCO are easy and smooth!

Didn't get as much packing done this weekend as I had hoped, but have planned with DD 12 to get it done this evening rather than leave it to Wednesday as I am in the office today and tomorrow.

Still feels a little unreal that we are so close to leaving. It does look like rain in Oslo, but hopefully that forecast will change. Otherwise, so far so good.

Weather.com no longer has thunderstorms on the forecast at Dulles Weds. night.

However the high out here will be 96 degrees and will feel like 110.

You've just made my day!:cool1: I went to weather.com and they changed the forecast in NY too. High of 89 but no thunderstorms. WOW!

How is everyone doing on this last day before departure? My washer and dryer haven't stopped since yesterday. Most everyone's clothes are laid out and ready to go in suitcases. That will all be done by tonight! The girls and I are headed out soon for mani's and pedi's. Nice girly bonding time. Dogs go to the doggie hotel tomorrow morning.

I just can't believe this trip is so close after all this time. We are off to the airport at 3:00 tomorrow.

Good luck to all in their final preparations and safe travels to all leaving tomorrow. See ya on Thursday. :woohoo::woohoo::yay::yay:

Wait a couple minutes, the weather will change...now it's "scattered" thunderstorms around 9 pm, my flight leaves close to 10. Well, it will be dry inside the airport.

In NY, weather.com is saying that the thunderstorms will come overnight tonight and then again late tomorrow night. If that holds, we'll be incredibly lucky.

Woke up at 5:30 this morning and got all 4 duffles about 75% packed. Basically the fancy clothes and toiletries are what's left. DH is stressing about his stuff fitting and we might need to bring a 5th bag (a garment bag), which would be a bummer, but maybe they will let us carry that on. Today is my last day in the office, so I think it will be ridiculously stressful, but now I've got several hours tomorrow to finish everything. Still need to go to the bank today for currency but have the US $$ for Russia.

We're also planning to leave for the airport at around 3. Weather reports in Europe look good until St. Petersburg!

I'm actually in mid-departure! Eep! I'm sitting in the RCC at Washington Dulles killing time until my flight to London. I packed 2/3 of the stuff last night; only the carryon rollaboard was packed the day before. I think I ended up getting about 2.5 hrs of sleep last night so hopefully I'll be able to doze off right after dinner.
I'm hoping there will be a room ready for me at Le Meridian tomorrow when I check in so I can drop off my stuff before wandering out.

Safe travels Improv. Enjoy wandering London, my favorite city. See ya Thursday.

Hope those thunderstorms don't mess with my flight!!

So I ran out during a lull to get currency. Citibank doesn't carry Estonian money, and neither does the American Express travel office across the street. I'm going to go with it rather than try to find it elsewhere. I figure I can get it on the ship, find an ATM there or (worst case scenario) use Euros. Did want to have local currency to get sweaters from the old ladies though!
