You Are Not The First To Pass This Way: 2nd Magic Baltic Cruise, 6/24/2010

OK.. thought I would get our post up to the top again.. it has fallen too far down...
With the luggage restrictions, Do you think it will affect how dressy you are getting for dinners? I am trying to figure out if hubby can get away with just a tie and leave the jacket at home for the formal/semiformal dinners.. and what will work for DD and me...
And what level of dressiness (is that a word) you are going to do for dinners?

I am thinking this might be a bit more casual than a "regular" cruise... What do you think?

Hard to say. On the one hand, it's a lot of nights, so it's potentially a lot of luggage, which will make people think twice, but on the other hand, it's Europe and so potentially more formal than the Carribbean, which is tropical. Also, the formal night is on a sea day. We are planning to bring clothes for the formal and semi-formal nights, mostly because the DDs really like to put on party dresses and my DH never gets a chance to wear his tux. What I'm worried about in terms of luggage bulk is that it's not going to be hot, and we're going to need to bring bulkier things (sweaters/jackets) than usual. We have LL Bean duffel bags that are fairly large but fit the luggage restrictions, so I'm hoping that 4 of those, plus maybe a carry-on garmet bag, will do the trick.

From what I recall from the Med Cruise in 2007 people ran the spectrum in dressiness. If your husband wears a tie and is comfortable, don't worry there will be people less dressed up than that.

I'm assuming everyone got their pamphlet from Disney our cruise. If Disney wanted to go green with the lack of info they sent us they should have just emailed us a newsletter. For the Med cruise they sent us a DVD with the cruise director reviewing all the ports, a book with a list of all the excursions. There were even free podcasts available on Itunes. Oh well.

:idea:It seems like we have a fairly small group. Would any of you be interested in doing a Fish Extender? We would be interested... I would be willing to organize. I have never done it before but have read about it.. Let me know what you think and if you would be interested.
We are getting close to our double digit count down... (:cool1:ours in on Weds) for when we are leaving...:banana::banana:

Sure, I'd do fishextender. We did it on the last three cruises, including the Med, and it was good fun. Just need to agree to keep the gifts small and light, as there isn't much luggage space for international flights, which many will be making.

Got some formal attire for my two boys. Last cruise, I got them tuxes, but older wouldn't have it this time. So I let them choose. Nico chose a sailor suit and Max chose a zoot suit. A little less traditional, but they are happy.

Guess it's time to start looking at excursions. I have a private tour that I'm planning for St. Pete and otherwise haven't figured anything out.

Considering doing ship excursions in St. Pete and a private excursion the first evening because I don't like Disney's evening excursions much. Still in talks with a tour operator to see if she can include me on an evening tour already going out. There's another ship in port the same time as ours (Jewel of the Seas) so I might be on one with them...I have also let her tell me (because she asked) if she can fit me on a full two day tour with another group, but I have to see what the itinerary is before I do that.

I'd love to do fish extenders! I didn't do them for my first/last cruise and we really wished we had participated. It looked like a lot of fun!

We need a little instruction on how FEs work (never done them before), but we'd be happy to be in.

On excursions, our booking window is getting pretty close now (and we will be at Disney's Hilton Head resort that week, which seems fitting -- never been there and really looking forward to a week away). We've pretty much decided to do the ports on our own, except for Berlin and St. Pete. And I cannot figure out which night in the dining rotation to try to give up for Palo. All the special dinners sound fun, and our DDs like eating with us on formal and semi-formal nights. Maybe a rotation dinner, except I'd hate to miss the first rotation in AP. Anyone thought about this? Otherwise, I'm just thinking about booking some spa treatments.....:cloud9:

ok.. here goes my try at Fish Extenders... (disclamer)I have never participated in it before. I have only read about them on the disboards and they look like they would be alot of fun. We have a fairly small group so it should be fairly easy to manage..

Anyone who has any advice please come forward!

When planning goodies we should be mindful of packing and space. Luggage space as we all know will be a premium.

I am very excited and think this will be so much fun.

Please PM me with your names and cabin number if you are interested.. I will compile a list and give updates as to numbers participating..

Well, I was able to get half of the shore excursions and a palo brunch and dinner booked and confirmed for my friend and I before getting booted out. Fortunately, my cabinmate was able to finish up about 40 minutes later.

Here's my list:
Copenhagen - Tivoli & Harbour Tour
St. Petersburg - Hermitage Museum & Pushkin/Peterhof
Warnemunde - Cultural Splendor of Berlin
Oslo - Walking Tour & City Hall
Stockholm - Nobel Tour
Talinn - Medieval Spirits of Estonia

Yay!!!!!

When I get a chance I will put a notification to PM ktkspider about fish extenders in the first post if that's OK.

We put Palo dinner on June 26 after Oslo but then it doesn't make a difference to us if we miss one of the rotational dinners.

For our June 24 Baltic I have completed booking EVERYTHING, air, hotel, transfers Palos to Excursions to Spa and now I am going to stop worrying about all of it! :worship: It is in Disney's hands now! Including the money, almost! :confused3

Great!! thanks so much!:cheer2:

I am so jealous of those getting to book excursions already! I am hoping with the small group we have (compared to a couple of the others) we might not have too much trouble getting the couple of things we really want to book.. Time will tell.

We can't book until March 26th, but we're not booking any Disney excursions. We're hoping for Palo on the 27th, after Copenhagen, but I'm skeptical that we'll get it. Otherwise, I'm just going straight to the spa bookings and hoping that I can get some stuff. I don't have a feel for how quickly the spa books up.

Sending PM now. (Sorry for the post, but I needed this post to be able to send the message!)

Just ckecking in:surfweb: I booked all my excursions had lots of trouble with Cruise line website but finally got it done:confused3 - FEs are fun and count us in  I still need to read back to catch up on everything :surfweb:We are leaving for WDW on March 21st-26th at AKL cant wait:banana:we would love to meet other Disers if anyone will be at WDW in March- I will check in later :cheer2:

Just to get you thinking..

you can do
-one gift for the cabin
-one for each person
or
-one for adults and one for each child

your choice. It is not about the size of the gift but the fun, participation and anticipation of it all... :O) :cool1:

We currently have 8 cabins participating :thumbsup2
18 adults
5 girls
4 boys

:woohoo:I will update as we get more signed on... with how active our group is, I am not expecting too big of a group.

Anyone else interested let me know.. pm me your cabin number and numbers in your cabin.:surfweb:

I am new to disboards (usually hang out at the passporters forum) which is how I found you guys, while looking for other cruisers. We have paid off the cruise and have all the excursions booked .. yeah .. can't wait.

We are making the most of this trip and spending 3 days in Dublin and 3 days in London before the cruise and 4 days in Paris after the cruise. Should be a great time. Wish I found you guys before I booked all my excursions as I was debating to doing the tours or going on our own. We ended up going with the excusrions, but may still change our minds now that I see all this great info.

By the way, there are 5 of us sailing ... My self Julie, My husband Chris and my father Jim, plus our 2 daughters, Samantha 11 and Allison 6. This will be there 6th cruise so everyone is very excited.

I have always seen the great magnets and the pocket holders, but never knew they were part of a gift exchange. We would love to participate, but I have no idea what that entails .. so any info would be great.

Thanks .. can't wait for the cruise =)
