Yo Ho Yo Ho A Pirate's Life for We Halloween *2012* PTR has begun!

So since Colton loved Splash so much I thought I would go online and try to find a VHS of Song of the South (has never been released on DVD) to put in his Easter basket. We have a VHS DVD combo & I have bought all the sing a long songs tapes and a few other Disney movies this way for really cheap some as low as 99 cents in the past. So great idea right?

Amazon has only 1 seller with this VHS available for $225.50!
E-bay has a bigger selection of 13 which run from $30 (early in the bidding) to $70
Amazon has a 4 pc set of action figures from the movie for $400!

I did buy him some pins of brer fox, brer bear & brer rabbit for $5.50 each.

I am having a bad case of sticker shock!

Maybe try the library. Can't keep it, but maybe he'll get to see it at least!!:goodvibes

No you are not. Those are crazy high prices. I am not sure what the rules are about me posting links to sites selling things so I will pm you what I found on getting "Song of the South" on DVD. I have no idea if the company is legit but because I have wanted the movie for a long time I have ordered it. Worst case I am out $20.00 if all goes well I will get the movie.

I just tried half.com (an ebay company). They have it in the Sing-a-long version only as far as I can see. But it is VHS starting at .75 plus 2.99 shipping if your interested. I have gotten alot of things on this site over several years. It may show up on this site in the future, so doesn't hurt to check!!;)

We do have the Sing A Long songs which has been played excessively since our return from the land. Colton runs around singing Zippidy doo dah every day.

Our kids wore those Sing Alongs out. I swear I heard those songs so many times I was sick of them.

VHS costs how much? DANG!@##$! I knew I made a mistake when I GAVE AWAY my stock of VHS to friends.

Even vinyl LPs sell for less.

What are we? Living in the '70's????!! :scared1:

Well we reached Fantasyland and headed for IASW which we had not ridden yet. I am one of those people that believe IASW is a one time per trip experience as I do love it but if I ride it too many times I can't get that song out of my head. Brant had never ridden it before...when he went with his mother at age 12 they did not do it because she is afraid of boats? (Never thought of IASW as a scary ride until I heard this LOL) and when we went in 2002 it was totally a "run by a teenager" trip as it had been a trip esp planned so Kari could go see the NBC overlay on the HM and IASW was not on her agenda at all. Therefore I had not ridden it since the 90's and Colton & Brant had never ridden it.

The wait was longer than most had been today but not bad at about 15-20 minutes although it felt long as I wanted to get to the dark rides before closing.

Colton adored it...I loved the "new" additions of the Disney characters. Brant says he was not as traumatized as he thought he would be after being told how the song would make him crazy. He thought it was cool but said he was sick of that song by the time we left. (wait until he finds out that it plays much more often when the holiday overlay is gone and you lose things like Ariel & Co singing Jingle Shells)

So we headed for the other FL rides we had not hit yet. First up Peter Pan with only a 15 min wait I have always loved it and my boys did too.

Next up was Mr Toad which Colton laughed at all the way through then off for a spin on the teacups at night.

Followed by a walk on trip with Alice..

There were about 10 minutes left until midnight at this point so we headed over and practically walked on to PP again

Then we did Snow White and Pinocchio both walk on...we were the only ones there.

After finishing up in FL we headed for Main St and did a slow perusal of shops with a stop for hot cocoa and moseyed around there until about 1 am.

Then we stepped out of the park for the last time and into the Esplenade and believe it or not there were still lines taking pics of the Calif Letters...masses of people I had still not gotten a single pic of them since you could not get a clear view due to the masses. We got in a line in front of the letter "C" as Colton really wanted a pic with it.

401.jpg

Couldn't even get a good pic of the C as there were people crowded all around me...very sad

We headed for Coco's (which is very near our hotel) to get some food and coffee & more hot chocolate. Due to the Holidays Coco's had extended their hours and we hung out there until almost 3 (Colton ended up asleep at Coco's for almost an hour. Unlike our BB experience he did wake up and walk to our hotel to meet Super Shuttle.

We picked up our bags and did a little re-arranging for the flight. Once the bags were ready Colton promptly went to sleep in the lobby by the fire.

I also dozed a bit but Brant is way too smart to take pics of me sleeping.

Super Shuttle picked us up at 4 and we were off to SNA.

Next up the ending of an eventful trip home that extended our vacation.

EDIT...the pics of the teacups at night were from another ride at some point (note the parade & crowd in the background) but I hadn't used them yet so I used them here.

IASW is a scary ride? :confused3

How cool that the Fantasyland rides were practically walk-on, especially PP.

Thanks for sharing.

Read your whole trip report in one sitting, thanks for sharing your trip with us. I cannot believe that you guys spent the whole day in the park, didn't leave until the next day and then were heading to the airport. What troopers all of you were. I would have been more than cranky to say the least.

Thank you again for taking the time to write your report. I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Fantasyland that night was like a do over for the worst MM ever! LOL

That was the only day we actually pulled off open to close and my son was the trouper after leaving early a few times and the sleeping walk from BB I was a little worried about all day & half the night but he did great! until we actually stopped at Coco's he never once complained about being tired or dragged or was cranky at all Once we hit Coco's he ate like 3 french fries and drank his hot chocolate and went to sleep.

Took me a while but I'm caught up again. As other noted it great that the light tower trick worked perfect for you.

I hate when the realization that it's coming to an end, starts to set in.

Hi Sherri...finally caught up! I hate to see this one coming to an end. I really enjoyed it. I am looking forward to reading all about your Halloween trip. I went the last week of October last year and it was so fun.

Quite a few on the uk version of e-bay selling very cheaply - less than $10 - of course postage would be a bit more to the US and check your VHS can play the PAL version (ours plays UK and US versions)

The light tower trick worked so well for us... right at the center of the action and even Colton at 48" tall was able to see everything.

That realization moment and Colton's statement at the end of Fantasia! were right on top of each other and just about wrecked me together.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I hate to see it coming to an end almost as much as those of you following along do. It feels like leaving DL all over again. You know the Halloween PTR will start as soon as this one ends though so stay tuned!
Also if you want to follow Colton's non Disney adventures I have been talked into doing a Montana travel blog (based on some non DIS local people being referred to this TR!) So all our adventures in Montana this summer will be recorded and I will post a link when I get it started.

Maybe I can just come to the UK and pick one up since currently it would be $700 cheaper to fly to the UK than to fly to DL in October!

Just had to share some good news! (Some of you may see this post in more than one place I am excited!)

The local newspaper editor saw my Christmas TR and forwarded my name and a link to it to a group looking for someone to write a Montana travel blog and newspaper travel articles about traveling with your kids.

I have been waiting until it was official but "Traveling in Colton's World" is a go!

So those of you that want to follow along with our travels around Montana this summer can! I will post the link when it gets started. Basically the idea is they pay for us to travel one weekend a month all summer and I write the blog in exchange for the travel $. Any blog article that they want re-vamped as a newspaper article I will actually get paid for on top of it! Since I owe this opportunity to the DIS all the money I earn is going towards our Halloween trip

Wow that is incredible!! You lucky duck!! Congratulations!!:goodvibes
How fun!!

Do they pick the places you travel to? If not, we traveled your way to Minnesota and back. We always stayed at a warm springs area just a bit off the main road. Going to see if I can remember the name. There is a huge hot tub LOL-- the olympic size swim pool is filled with that hot mineral water. There are water slides, also half the pool is indoors and half the large pool out doors.

This is worth a visit for weekend. There were activities you could sign up for. Fun place for kids - ok for moms to. :)

Happy 2 B Me

Glacier National Park is close to you also?

You are so blessed to be able to do this reporting this summer. And not to worry your reports are always fun and interesting,

Yes, please post link to the news paper reports.

Some they are choosing and some we are choosing... It is going to be fun!

April we are going to Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs which is only 17 miles from us and a favorite! It isn't the hot springs you are talking about though. They have everything you described but the mineral pool is all indoors. Would be interested if you could find out where the one you visited was and what it was called.

Glacier couldn't exactly be called close. It would be about a 5 hour drive, but the train picks us up right here in town and drops at Glaciers train museum & hotel so since Colton has never ridden a non Disney train this will be part of our adventure.
