Yikes! You guys are scaring me!

Hi,

We will be visiting WDW the last week of October. After reading the recent posts it sounds like it will be hot and crowded. Coming from California every other year we try to come when it's not crowded and it seems we did not do a good job this year. I wanted to go in February, but DH wanted October because he thought February would be too cold to go to TL or BB.

Any reassuring words for me?

We have gone in October for 10 years in a row. I find the weather at the end of october to be wonderful. Usually around 80s during the day and 70s at night. The crowds will be the worse we have ever seen, mostly because of the success of the FTP, so nothing we can do about that. But I noticed your interest in the water parks, you do know that BB is going down for refurb. on 10/26 don't you. Which leaves only TL open and the biggest October crowds Disney has ever seen for this time of year....and yes, the FTP includes unlimited visits to the water parks. I'm hoping to get to BB on Saturday the 25th before is closes. Check the disney web site for the hours and refurb schedule.

Just finished reading the Passporter Newsletter, and they were reporting on everything they found out at the huge media bash Disney threw this past week at WDW! There were over 2000 media people there and they all went to scheduled events at each park. That could also have been the huge crowds others were talking about.

Don't worry about crowds - just go have fun! Since you've been a few times already - look thru the guide books for some offbeat things that you always wanted to do - and if the parks are too crowded do those! Parasailing, anyone?!?!?!

I agree with Harambe. I really think part of the heavy crowds last week was due to all the media events and surrounding hoopla. We're going at the same time as you (Oct 25-Nov1) and I too have been a little concerned about crowd levels. It made me feel a little better when I checked the Disney website yesterday and found that nearly every hotel has availability during our week. I'm not going to worry about it. It's out of our control anyway. We're just going to stick to our plan of going to the non ee park and going EARLY. We did this last year at this time and experienced very short waits for anything we did. Go and have fun!!

You're scared!? What about me?..we're going the be there for Thanksgiving! I'm NOT looking forward to the crowds..but I know we'll have a good time.

I don't even think things are that crowded now compared to some other times. There were still AP rates available for rooms on property last weekend, with about one day's notice. The MK was very, very crowded.....but I chalked it up to being the weekend. Epcot really wasn't as bad....WS was a bit congested Fri. evening...but its always a bit congested in the evenings, particularly since there's not really anywhere else to go at Epcot at those times. We were able to eat without a Priority Seating and without a wait....and that's not all that common. The only thing we weren't able to do on short notice (tried to make same day PS arrangements) was have dinner at Chef Mickey's....but we were able to get a Liberty Tree Tavern PS the same day.

I'm not really worried about crowds during our actual vacation (this past weekend was an unexpected trip that happened out of some really bad circumstances for us....we would have preferred to not be in FL last week, but had to be there for reasons other than WDW...tried to make the best of it by ending the week there). We've travelled at all different times of the year and they all seem to have their advantages and disadvantages...I'm guessing late Oct. is no different. We're still looking for a favorite time to go to WDW...though so far, we've just found lots of different reasons for liking different times!
